Taking babies in business class?

So I'm going on my first family holiday soon with my wife and twin newborn daughters. Since the flight is about 6 hours I figured I'd splash out on business class tickets so that we can fly in a bit more comfort since my wife and I will be holding them the whole way.

I told a couple of friends about this, for some reason they got all weird about it, apparently they would be pissed if they had bought an expensive ticket and had to sit next to a baby (let alone 2).

I don't see what the big deal is myself, crying babies are just a part of life, and at the end of the day a plane is just public transport. I don't know if the other passengers will be upset but I imagine they just need to suck it up.

Am I in the wrong here?

Excellent troll thread.

People don't "figure to splash" on business class. They either go on business, or economy.

Maybe you meant "premium economy".

Also, you don't sit next to anyone in business class.

Yes you are wrong and your friends are right. If I spent biz class $ and you were sitting next to me with twin 6 mos I would wish death on you and your children. Slow painful death with lots of suffering.

Why would you travel on a plane with new borns. Headaches for everybody smh.

They should make a place in the cargo hold for people who bring babies on planes srs.

Yes people will be mad (if they cry) - but they can suck a dick. Bring a bunch of titties, bottles and pacifiers. I mean if they are quiet the whole time the same folks would be telling you how "well behaved" your newborn is - **** 'em. Do what's best for you. If you don't want to hear a crying baby on a plane then charter your own flight.

Are the people in business class more entitled to a baby free flight than the ones in coach?

If the airline has no policy against it I'd take them on whatever would make it easiest for you and your wife.

I have a bunch of frequent flyer miles that I used to make the booking. So all I'm paying is $100 or so in booking fees.

Ok, that makes more sense.

I would recommend to try to pick seats in the middle section either all the way forward in business class, or all the way back in business class. This will minimize the people affected. Failing that, two seats on the same side, but again, either all the way back, or all the way forward.

Seats 1C/1D for example, but that's close to the tiny washroom near the pilots, so whatever C/D is near the second set of washrooms is probably ideal.

Thanks brah, repped. I'm sure I can count on getting some looks from grumpy boomers!

Funny thing is, they will probably have paid full fare for their tickets, whereas my family of 4 will be travelling for next to nothing since I used FF miles to make the booking.

have taken 31 hr flights to/from Cape Town from az (2 short stops/layovers along the way) and have never splurged on business class even when $ was real good. i will happily 'suffer' for some hours then pay like twice the amount+. like sure if u give it to me ill be happy but im not paying for that chit. either way flying is boring and uncomfortable. maybe if i was a literal billionaire i guess i would but nah, srsly, fuk that noise

in a way yes, but the only difference is that your babies are the ones producing the sound, and affecting multiple others. wants of the few vs the many going on here.

but IMO if I were you I would do it, but I would accept that its a dick move, but its whats best for the family.

I fly at least 5x year and 1/2 of the time in B.C. In fact, I’m flying to Aruba in 4 weeks. Shocker.

And I get it, infants are people too and we need to move people’s in todays society so I offer a solution - add a “nursery area” or “child section” - it was good enough for smokers in restaurants for decades so why won’t it work in this application? Each flight has a designated “5 years old and younger” section with all of the amenities you actually really need to make your journey in a comfortable way all while not making the other 150 passengers miserable. Just a thought
