Guess it also depends if you're talking about half-assed reps.

Your arms need to come out to the side in a wide L, then up and in to the center of the chest.

Incline
Incline dumbbell press is easier, because you have more leverage in the push from the incline, and your arms don't come down as far and wide. They sink into the lats and rear shoulders, which offer immense support. On the flat bench, it's all in the chest to stabilize the weight when it comes out to the sides of your body properly and sinks below your pec-line.

Your arms don't have to come out wide lol, tucking elbows is safer and actually usually harder. You're full of chit.

Either way, most people naturally should be able to get a good set of 8-10 with 85lbs within 1-2 years of lifting. It's really not much... at all

So...a "juice diet" is (illegal/prescription) drugs?

I can easily rep 88s (highest in my gym) and I don't even use "juice". Random idiots like to make themselves feel better thinking that I inject, but that just shows what jealous dummies they are.

Negative OP.

The circuit for the chest muscles works from side to side across the body. Thus, only moves that bring the arms in towards the body (and out to the sides) properly isolate the chest. Tucking your elbows is detracting from isolation, and large portions of your fibers are receiving no activation in dynamic exertion; they are remaining neutral as a stabilizer. You will never develop a full form factor in your chest this way.

Yes you will, unless dumbbell press is the only fukkin movement you ever do for your chest. But who was bench, incline bench, flyes etc.

I'll take lifting into my older years, over lifting for 5 years 'optimally' then not being able to anymore because i've destroyed my rotator cuffs from impingement causes by excessively flaring my elbows on presses.

Either way, jumping straight to 'juice' because of 85lb DB press is retarded. With any form, 85lbs is a piece of piss for anyone who has lifted consistently for a decent amount of time.

No you didn't OP. Anything you break-down the body builds back up stronger. What destroyed your rotator cuffs was a chit diet, that didn't include enough carbs and fatty acids, so that your body was thrown into Ketosis too often (for too long), and your collagen structures were broken down cannibalized in the process.

I think it's a mobility issue for most. I'm pretty flexible and can bench elbows flared out and not have any shoulder issues.

That's real heavy. How is your form? I see a lot of guys doing flyes without going deep. Or they turn it into a half pressing movement when coming back up.

Firstly i'm not the OP.

Secondly, i never said i've damaged my rotator cuffs from impingement. But mechanically speaking, there is impingement from excessively flaring elbows which over time can lead to boreing a hole in your scapula for a lot of people (of course not all, but mechanically it's a vulnerable position). Those with short arms can sometimes get away with it though.

Thirdly, "ANYTHING you break-down in your body 'builds back stronger'"??? Who was ligaments, bone, tendons?

FUKIN LOL, thanks for the laugh bro

There's a reason most of the worlds best benchers use some elbow tuck, despite it being mechanically inefficient

You were the OP of that statement.

Spare me your inconclusive Big Lab results. Spoiler alert—Big Lab is a business to them first and foremost of all.

There is a lot of hindering, sheltering, and even botching of information in attempts to stall for time while they seek to monetize the aspect for themselves.

Greedy scientists are no different than anyone else. You can't take the face value of anything they report for full value.

I'm telling you—it was a chit diet—or chit training schematics that involved not enough rest and training too heavy, too often.

lol 'science is wrong, i'm right'

"big lab" lol, it's basic mechanics...

If you're gonna use subjective reasoning, this back and fourth is a waste of time. You do you, i'll do me.

Either way, 85lbs dumbbells are not exactly hard, and not a good reason to jump straight to the 'juice' comments.

I got up to the 80s with like 10 reps when I weighed 140 a year ago. 85s at like 3 reps. If my scrawny ass could do it plenty of heavier brahs can if they actually try.

I'm not out at 90, but pretty flared

You also lift with a lot of control and know how to properly load for the movement you are doing. Some dipchit that says you have to have your arms straight out to the sides for a db press to count probably doesn't...

I'll continue to tuck my elbows and work through a full ROM without pain thank you very much, lol.
