The prequels sh!t all over the Disney Star Wars films (except Rogue One which was the best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy)

Only thing that worries me about that trailer is all of them riding goats or whatever horse like things across the deck of what looks like a Star Destroyer during a battle. And the two main characters destroying what looks like Darth Vader's helmet/corpse together which means Kumbaya time and they live happily ever after. So two things that would make me walk out of a theatre.

Last Jedi was just terrible. Hoping they can redeem themselves.

Rogue One was the only Star Wars movie post 1983 that captured the same feel as the original trilogy.

I was born in 1989 so I only saw the originals on VHS after they had already been out for a long time so I have great memories of seeing the prequels in the theater with my family and friends as a kid growing up. Also loved all the video games, toys, comics and books that came along with it. Despite all the hate it gets, The Phantom Menace was such an awesome experience for kid back in 1989 and Lucas did his job of creating a whole new generation of Star Wars fans.

I have seen every Star Wars film in the theaters, with that piece of dog-sh*t "Last Jedi" being the last one. They won't get my money for the new one after robbing me with that last one.

I was able to tolerate The Force Awakens but I think The Last Jedi is my most disappointing theater experience of all time, maybe besides Justice League which just destroyed my childhood hopes and dreams completely lol

It's not Disney Star Wars... IT'S YOU and you're a racist bigot for not liking Rose Tico, *******. Now go watch the fuking movie, you fuking racists.

You may have a point but the sheer gall in which Disney rapes, burns, and hangs the star wars corpse outside the village for us to all see is truly unprecedented.

In fact, building off your point, we should have known what was to come when they didn't retcon the prequals. Now retconning anything doesn't make sense because it should all go away really.

If you're going to dismiss the new ones, you have to dismiss the prequels...IMO the new ones are better than the prequels.

I liked the visuals of the ships flying towards the icy looking palace/city and I thought the scene with Rey and Kylo fighting looked like they got some of the saber motion down better. I think the emperor reveal was cool since we all knew it was coming and it seemed that Rey and Kylo were working together at one point again, which is cool and could be interesting to see what happens. I'm hyped to see it even though the Last Jedi was terrible. I get excited each time and hope that this time they don't totally **** up my childhood. Please give Luke some screen time even in ghost form.

Agreed. The Force Awakens was too derivative of A New Hope, but at least it was done OK and entertaining. The Last Jedi was by far the worst Star Wars movie. Rian Johnson is a moron and tried to be edgy by basically just invalidating everything JJ Abrams set up for him in TFA, and it turned out to be a major fail. The prequel movies could have been OK except that Hayden Christensen almost singlehandedly ruined every scene he was in.

Rogue One was excellent - very dark. I enjoyed Solo a lot, too. People had already written it off before it even came out because of how bad TLJ was, but Ron Howard is a great director and Woody Harrelson is one of the GOAT character actors.

rogue one was good. i think rogue one was the best they did overall in the entire series, aside from empire strikes back, shame that one didn't turn out to be the new trilogy.

1)rogue one
2)empire strikes back
3)revenge of the sith

top 3

My same top 3 expect swap RO with Empire. Not sure why RO gets hate and why anyone like TFA. TFA was terrible and I only saw TLJ because I thought maybe they could turn it around but somehow that one was even worse

I don't care what anyone says I like the prequels. The dialog wasn't very good but I enjoyed watching them

Oh, and this time there is some kind of fleet of Death Stars - or ships with Death Star-like weapons.

Because, y'know, it's not like we haven't had enough goddamn floating death machines with impenetrably stupid weaknesses that get exploited in the third act.

I'm not watching that trailer, though, because... I simply don't care enough to expend the bandwidth, let alone pay attention to whatever the next wave of Disney, space-retardation they have cooked up, honestly.

A long while back, they actually admitted as much that they went into the "trilogy" without so much as an outline of movies A to B to C, so you're spot on.

JJ Abram's entire goddamn career has been predicated upon the "step 1. Make a mystery box, step 2. ???, step 3. profit" model, which he applied in full effect with TheForever AloneForce Awakened.

Then Disney decided that instead of at least humoring everyone by letting JJ drag out step 2. withnobloody clue on how to actually build off from remaking the original movies but worse, they hired the asshat who thought that a time travel movie also need inane psychic powers* and some autistic, future Hitler, little sh*t kid as a key plot point.

*It just occurred to me: Did they go with Rian Johnson because Looper had all of that stupid telekinetic bullsh*t shoehorned into it, which might as well also be "the force?"

Never mind that Rian Johnson also happens to be a world class kunt all on his own, but he actually proved a somewhat controversial theory with The Last Jedi by showing that Star Wars fan(atics) will figuratively prostrate themselves (and let's face it, probably also literally) over Star Wars regardless of how artistically, intellectually, canonically, or narratively insulting a Star Wars movie might be.

That said, TLJ was divisive enough to give Disney pause, so they went back to the safe bet with JJ to just "mystery box 2 electric boogaloo"aroundTLJ with the final movie. This will be further supported if any leaks saying that the movie will hop back in time for flashbacks (because that issuchgood storytelling right there...).

I'd wager the writing rooms devolved into this:

Yep, just like every one of these properties that get continual, unwanted, unneededcontinuations because Hollywood is a vacuum for original thoughts.
Lucasfilm originally hired Colin Trevorrow(Jurassic World) to write and direct Episode IX.

Later they fired him due to "creative differences". Really he took too long with the script because he "couldn't come up with anything"

Agreed about Solo. I was expecting a dumpster fire, but it was pretty entertaining. The whole Lando "pansexual" hysteria was really blown out of proportions. There was only one instance that it was somewhat indicated, but even then you'd never know unless you were expecting it.

Will not watch. TLJ was so unbearably stupid I am not willing to give Disney's Star Wars another chance. Rogue One was the last decent Star Wars movie, Force Awakens was palatable, and TLJ was a steaming pile of idealistic crap with more plot holes than a graveyard.

The prequel era was the GOAT time to be a Star Wars fan even if you hated the movies. Brb best videogames, best books/comics, best cartoons, best new characters like Revan. What did the new Star Wars give you? A nihilistic cowardly version of Luke, Leia a dyke now and Han a deadbeat failure of a dad. Eps 7-8 adds nothing of value to SW, it just ruins chit. If Galaxy’s Edge opened up in 2003 it would’ve been insane but Star Wars is so dead, the theme park was virtually empty within weeks of its opening fukcing lol

Pretty entertaining is a bit of a stretch, but it wasn't a complete dumpster fire either. IMO, it should have built up to and ended on the Correlian Run or whatever that was, the movie never recaptured even a fraction of the energy it had then after.
