TFA felt like beating an already blended horse corpse smoothie as if that were humanly possible, and everything since has deviated so far from the appeal of the originals in favor of politicizing and propagandizing.

On an additional note, Disney even managed to completely ruin the video game side of Star Wars. Throw on top of that the Ginger Hitler, who also happens to be difficult to separate from the guy in Ex Machina who fell in love with a glorified Real Doll who ended up playing him like minesweeper.

Anyway, I think any hope of salvaging the trilogy is shot because they[i]did[/i]have the option of walking back on TLJ and retconning the second movie. That ship has sailed, however, so now they're stuck trying to retcon in the[i]middle[/i]of the final movie.

If the leaks are correct and Rey is actually Palpatine's granddaughter, then it shows just how stubborn they are to actually[i]sticking[/i]with TJL (almost out of spite at this point), what with that whole line fromKyleKylo about Rey's parents being nobodies.

Like, "[i]technically[/i]he was right about Rey's[i]parents[/i], but oh-ho! Bet no one ever expected her[i]granddad[/i]to special!"

Sure, that is technically correct, but it's also dancing around semantics since the big mystery around Rey was her general lineage given how she was a preternatural deus ex machina out of the box.

TFA didn't lay a particularly strong, calcium-fortified set of bones for this new trilogy all around even without TLJ, either, and with the SJW angle being shoved to the front of priorities, they were setting themselves up for failure. Much of the original trilogy's appeal is that it just[i]is[/i]; anyone, boy, girl, man, or woman can find something appealing in them, and they're not setting out to yell from the mountaintops about the idiot hill everyone should die on as a society.

I got "the feels" in Force Awakens in the climactic scene after Han dies, when Kylo reaches for the lightsaber and we see it fly past him and into Rey's hands.

Brings the sense of wonder and destiny to the Force that the originals had that was missing in the prequels.

JJ does emotional scenes well.

Super 8 is full of good examples. The scene where they're filming just before the train wreck happens. Elle Fanning gives a very emotional performance and the kids are fixated on her. The scene where the kid and elle fanning are in his room watching the projector footage of his mom. The scene where the kid has to let his picture watch of his mom go.

Star Trek had a good one. The scene where Kirk kept trying to get a rise out of Spock about his mom then it finally happens. Spock busts out and wails on Kirk and starts choking him. His dad's the one that calms him down.

Have a sudden urge to go look up deepfakes of Daisy Ridley.

We know the Emperor will have some role, since his laugh and his throne are in the trailer. We also hear her say, she doesn't know who she is anymore.

What I would like to happen is Palpatine somehow being around as some kind of evil spirit residing in Rey's body slowly trying to take over and using her body as a vessel for his return. This would explain Rey's overpoweredness and give her some challenge.
We can have her being close to turning evil, but in the end Kylo saves her and becomes a good guy as well and they end up smashing.

Asian sloot has some limited screentime and does a few comedic scenes with Finn. The rebel pilot dude wisens up and becomes a competent leader.This honestly makes him interesting IMO. We know the dude is struggling with his role, so he could turn into a good guy anytime.
I fact I would say he is the only one of the new characters with any personality.
