Yeah if you want to have him as the big bad, you are right. If the big bad is someone else like Snoke or now the Emperor, than Kylo can be wimpy.Seriously exploring such themes would be taking Star Wars way too serious. It was always some space opera and even the original trilogy had lots of comedy in it.

If we treated the military like real world military there would be way too many ethical issues to enjoy the movie. (Rights of the Clones? Committing genocide by blowing up the death star? What about droid's rights? They seem sentient after all.) Star Wars has to stay superficial to be the lighthearted pop corn cinema it always was.

Still Finn is ultimately some boring dude because he seems to have no real agenda and just stumbles through the first movie, before getting horny for Rey.

Midichlorians made sense to me - don't understand why people get in a hump about it? How else do you explain the force? There has to be something controlling it. And it make perfect sense.And this, there is not enough backstory to show what happens from Episode 6 to 7. If there is I probably turned off as Ep. 7 was such garbage.

I lost almost all my interest in this trilogy after Last Jedi so I wasn't bothered seeing them.

Usually I avoid trailers if I want to see a movie because they always spoil something.

I'll wait for this to come out on Netflix to see it.

I just read the reddit leaks and tbh if they wind up being true it's like 7 leagues below laughably bad. Like I had to stop reading 3 or 4 times to fcking sigh and once to laugh out of my chair. Fully aware that I sound like a new trilogy hater but this is straight trash.

This ^^ I really tried to like them, and I'm not one of those grumpy old guys who just says "OrIgInAlS wErE tHe BeSt"........ I'm easily entertained and I don't really need a indepth plot to enjoy the movies, but they bastardized these new films in unspeakable ways. Aside from doing no justice to the previous films, they are just bad movies.

Only good thing was John Williams happier, grandiose version of the main theme in the trailer. Had a sense of finality to it. Incidentally, the movies in this new trilogy certainlyhaven'tearned such epic music.

Force Awakens left me completely cold. It felt like a hollowed out Star Wars.
Last Jedi seemed to directly insult anyone who enjoyed the lore of the franchise. Seriously. Felt like a middle finger to the fans, especially how the director and everyone else involved with the movie started attacking anyone who didn't pretend it was a good movie. Last Jedi I left the theater like "What in the hell was that?!"

The damn prequel trilogy is better than anything I've seen from Disney. But that TV show looks sick. Mandalorian or whatever.

The comedy in the originals were subtle, bro and I don’t member any yo momma jokes. And being a little more thoughtful about the military structure wouldn’t hurt Star Wars, in fact it’s the world building aspects of the Disney ones that are lacking. Imo we should know more about how the galaxy works after all these years, it’s how you become immersed in a fictional setting

John Williams said all previous themes are returning for Rise Of Skywalker. So that means we get to hear Duel of the Fates and Imperial March on the big screen again.

The only thing holding the trilogy of Star Wars trilogies together is his epic music.

Guy is nearly 100 years old and still making music. Glad Rise Of Skywalker is going to be his last Star Wars movie that he does.

That doesn't even qualify for basic bitch writing 101, that really is throwing sh*t at a fan and observing which particulates happen to stick to a dartboard full of half dumb ideas, half tropes ripped off from other movies or Star Wars itself. If TFA wasn't masturbatory enough, this is a Siamese circlejerk in full swing.
Personality crisis perfectly sums up Kyle; you almost expect him to come out identifying as a twelve year old girl.

Finn is a tragedy of botched potential and characterization with who alone has so many forehead-slappingly obvious inconsistencies.

Why/howis Finn theonly soldierto be too chickensh*t to fire off a round and nearly faint at the sight of blood? Is he the squad intern or something? How did he pass basic training, let alone get put alongside the first wave

Yet Finn also has insane amounts of easy (plot convenient) access to rescue a high security prisoner while going AWOL. Speaking of chickensh*t, what kind of operation is this "First Order" running if they can let that kind of Spaceballs wackiness ensue? How in the hell are they a galactic superpower?

But why would Finn turnagainstthe First Order if the supposed "reason" was witnessing a comrade die by being shot by theresistance?!?That makes zero goddamn sense. Are you telling me that if somebody kicked Finn's dog, he would run around kickingother people's dogs?

Most importantly, though, when Finn's time to shine comes about - again thanks to his absurd access toeverythingin the First Order that the plot demanded, sike! He wasreallyjust, like, the space janitor there and wanted to tag along with Han.WHAT?!Did we not already establish that he was a soldier and apparently was qualified to be in a critical mission vanguard? How did he do everything, get to where hewas, when he was basically the water boy?

Oh, and that "reveal" was all for a lame joke, but Finn was the true butt of that joke in the overall narative sense because he went from a character brimming with potential to be knocked back down to such an impotent twat that his role with the First Order was something aSpace Roombacould do, but they had him do it just because he wasthatsh*t. That only reinforces the looming questions of how in the fresh hell he wound up in the frontline, got sand in his vagina, and rescued Poe. Wouldn't they have kept him on the ship to keep the seats warm or cook everyone pancakes?

With your example, we could have seen someone who has had to first have a legitimate reason to break from a former allegiance and gain the trust of new allies, all while trying to adjust himself mentally and emotionally to these drastic shifts.

But nope, bugger that - we need Finn to realize the errors of his ways in a good five minutes so that we can jump right into the buddy comedy and have him team up with the good guys who have zero qualms with taking in an expat of their sworn foe.
Honestly, regardless of anyone's opinions on JJ, I wouldn't give him or most other once trustworthy names any credit in regards to the level of trash they would associate themselves with these days.

JJ/Bad Robot hopped onto the Cloverfield Paradox* and even James Cameron signed his name onto Terminator Dickless Farce. In Star Wars' case, JJ has that Disney money to change his mind, and we really don't know what kind of contracts or deals they might have made behind the scenes. Disney could have easily offered a tempting quid pro quo that would have funded a future passion project in exchange for "saving the franchise" as one example off the top of my head.
