If my son or daughter did that I would not want them "detained". I would want a phone call and a chance to correct the behavior myself--as the parent. It's not the job of some inpet cop to physically force my child into compliance. If they were a danger to themselves or others that would have been a different story but that's not what happened here.

As I remember it the SRO's job was not to patrol the school but more community outreach and safety.

Is there a legal definition and job description of SRO?

Reality is that many people have mental/physical disabilities, addictions, are raised in poor environments, or just don't give a fuk. Cops earn/deserve respect becasue they have accepted the job of professionally cleaning up after the worst society has to offer.

Pretty delusional to think that asking people to please stop that chit is a solution to acting unprofessionally.

The primary cause of the whole ordeal was the child's awful behaviour and inability to follow basic rules and commands from a figure of authority she was supposed to be listening to. If the officer was heavy handed it was because being polite and just talking was going nowhere. That girl thought she owned the place and needs to be taught a lesson.

I don't know why you keep pretending that normal disciplinary action works on kids like this. Your son or daughter are probably in the vast majority where this situation would be resolved normally by an administrator or parent. In most of these incidents, things "go too far" when someone finally snaps because there is no discipline at home, calling the mother is pointless, administrators can do nothing, etc.

No I wouldn't encourage that. But it would be handled by me the school and the police collectively.

But I would not for one second tolerate this cop or any bbn other adult doing this to my 11 year old child.

There are so many ways this could have been handled, it's almost a joke.

So much this. This girl's big crime was....getting an extra milk! lol

And the school officials are scummy for tryign to say she assaulted them, when she clearly didn't. More proof that schools are filled with idiot amdins/teachers, and that manlet cops are always going on that excessive force time like female cops. I agree with this , in the future she’s only going to get worse . All she had to do was listen , but that was way to difficult for this entitled sloot

Furthermore, it's a school, they know who she is, and can reprimand her another way.

Additionally,it's a goddamn 11 year old, not exactly the fountain of reason.

Charge the parents for the stolen milk, suspend her, detention, community service, etc.

Lots of ways to do this.
This part is important. I was 11, and never would I have refused to comply with the police like this. Hell, I'd have complied with the school long before the police got involved. Even if I did do dumb chit, like take an extra milk, once confronted, I would comply. And my brother & sister would do the same.

Not complying is more than an issue of youth, it's an issue of values that are lacking. Values that your parents are supposed to have instilled into you, because they are necessary for any type of healthy community to function. What angers people about her behavior is that it's the consequence of her growing up in a culture that is deemed harmful to a stable society.

That said, I don't agree that physical force from an officer will result in the best outcome here. The problem goes much deeper. There's reasons for some differences in values that have have historical contexts, and examining this takes more effort than most people want to put in. Frankly, the officers behavior was highly unprofessional, as he is held to a much higher standard of conduct than this child, and he should have been conscious of that.

I didn't see anything that bad from the girl. The fact school amdins flatout lied and said she assualted them, only points me to them being the problem. I've been in scummy schools where teachers/admins will accuse students of sh!t they didn't do, and if you deny it, they will give it to you worse. The claim is she got an extra milk...that's it. My guess is she probably said no i didn't, and then all of this ensued.

But as adults, why are they stressing over milk? And lieing about assualts? And slamming 11 year olds to the ground?

No, the girl didn't need to be taught a lesson or anything of the sort.

She needed to be removed from school grounds without endangering herself or others until admin can decide whether to allow her back on campus.

Call parents or CPS and observe the child until they arrive. That's it.

1) yeh, a milk. And my guess is she denies that

2) She wasn't belligerent at all. The video clearly shows her leaving quietly for her mom to pick her up. The school admins lied.

3) The school cop didn't have to do sh!t. He could simply wait til her mother arrived. How hard is that?

Lol. You all act like the officer saw her grab a milk and then speared her into the wall to teach her a lesson. The only thing the milk has to do with any of this was that it was what triggered the entire situation. Her defiance, disrespect, resistance to the officers/administrators commands, and all of her other actions LOOOOONG after the milk was taken are why she was tossed around.

Bold: Yes the cop snapped

She was ultimately pick up by her mother after that fiasco. So what was accomplished?

The school even had to tell the guy to calm down bc he was going apechit. What was he gonna do, arrest her? She walked past the two school officials not “assault”. Her mom was otw there, there was no need or reason to arrest for for what was called “assault”. Imagine going to work later and seeing your fellow officers disgusted at you for getting worked by an 11 yr old girl and then getting fired for it lmao.
