Tried Knob Creek for the first time last night. I was going to get the standard version, but the single barrel reserve was only $4 more, so I got that. Really good taste to it, and seems fairly smooth compared to others I've tried.

Man that is so good. For the price, it's killer. Great taste AND high proof.

Liquor store has some different gift sets. I also love coffee so I got the Knob Creek one with these mugs:

Bottle of Knob and two mugs for $35, not bad.

I feel like the single barrel has more flavor, I have both but never really tasted them back to back.

EDIT:. Definitely like the single barrel more. I taste more pure alcohol in the regular one for some reason, in the SB I just get a nice barrel note.

This might be an impossible question but can anyone point me in the direction towards a bottle of Yamazaki? (12yr or the new non dated ones) I don't feel like paying $50 in shipping to TWE.

Also if you guys have not tried Kavalan classic yet, I highly recommend it.

I picked up a bottle for my dad while I was in Taiwan, and it was beautiful.

Yamazaki is one of those right place at the right time bottles. I haven't seen one in the wild.

Funny that you said that, story time!

I went to Binny's to pick up a bottle of Kavalan for my buddy who's having a little bday thing today. While browsing around the Japanese section, an old lady was talking to the guy who works in the whiskey section and I overheard him saying "I have 1 bottle of Yamazaki 12 in the back", she then said she was going to browse around for a bit.As soon as she moved away, I went up to the guy and said I'll take the Yamazaki 12. Got it for $100

I’m surprised to hear this. Didn’t realize BT was hard to come by. Nonetheless, there are countless other bourbons that are at least as good if not better than BT. Four Roses Small Batch would be another solid go to for me.

I have some of that here too, it's just OK for flavor, but still a good value for 20 bucks.

Came home with this bottle this weekend. Apparently it won bourbon of the year in the bourbon bible or something or other. I dunno, but that's pretty neat and I liked it.

I think it’s a scam to increase bourbon prices globally, not really a fan of Jim Murray and the whiskey bible etc. Just taste stuff and choose what you like. And I’ve had a lot high end whisk(e)y and could act all pretentious but it all comes down to personal taste and what your feeling that day.

I've been gone from this forum for too long, I missed out on two years of this thread!

Currently sippin on a bottle of Four Roses Small Batch. Great flavor and smoooooth and usually right in that $30-35 range.

I saw a regular bottle of Four Roses a few weeks ago which I'd never tried. Quite let down, it wasn't nearly as smooth as the small batch.

With the winter approaching and nights getting colder, it's scotch season! Love to see what Scotches everyone is sippin on

Apparently...

Haven't delved in to any of the 1792 line. I'll need to get a bottle. A lot of TW's keep the BT on the counter up front. That's pretty sad.
