Pogue is out of touch with reality. Hes like a boomer or hes stuck in circa 2014 and trying to figure out 2019. I dont think the problem is that bad and they just wrote the articles because this place hasnt turned into reddit

We're very familiar with spambots. They're just programmed to post random replies to threads to get their post counts high enough so they can post URLs to whatever they're trying to sell. They use software calledXRumerthat can bypass email verification and CAPTCHAs and since our vBulletin version is so old and no one can seem to figure out how to install addons to filter out known spammer IPs, they get through constantly, so we have to manually deal with them instead.

It's not some kind of conspiracy to hype up a political candidate. Usually, it's just to post a link to sell Viagra from Thailand or something.

Absolutely. That's just spamming for a higher post count, and it's usually so the person can get to 50 posts and post links/images that sort of thing.

Nah, we can't really do anything with posts like that. A mod would have to look into the account, check the IP and do a bunch of other tests to see if it's actually a spammer. We prefer just to get reports on actual spam that's actionable and we can delete/ban the person.

Why would the Mossad bother trying to infiltrate bodybuilding.com? They would have to be stupid to want to waste their time here. All you have to do is look at the metrics to see bodybuilding.com has fallen to the wayside in recent years with the advent of Reddit and other bigger sites.

And I can tell you that the competition from Amazon has really pushed bbcom down in the sales department to the point where they're definitely not getting as many sales as they used too. I get a coupon for 30% off stuff here and I still don't buy from here because it's almost always cheaper on Amazon.

I always chalked "that group" up to two types:

1.) They were a Russian troll farm trying to influence and divert traffic using bots and pre-programmed thread titles and content + replies.

2.) It was just a bunch of affiliate markets trying to generate traffic for that wack job... Alex Jones? I think is his names website. They always tried to link to his supplement line. As soon as I would call them out... there would be a flood of random replies with join dates from that month and like 5 post history...









If you look at the patterns, and not the content, to can always see whats really going down... the conspiracy theorists are hilarious, but they are most affiliate marketing people trying to influence traffic SRS

on the subject of politics though. its not right vs left, its rich vs poor. and what i mean by that is billionaire club vs everybody else. the two party system is a diversion tactic, and liberal policies are used as a trojan horse to push that control agenda. you get these liberal politicians who get everyone all fired up over emotionally charged issues so every one gets mad and stops thinking. then these same politicians push thousand page bills that are full of litigation that only serves to benefit big business while publicly patting themselves on the back for having fixed whatever emotionally charged issue.

the ideas that are being pushed by the mainstream media are all centered around this idea. there is an agenda to brainwash american males into being soft, emotional weak victims because that type of person is easier to manipulate.

I have to say, even though the constant alt accounts get annoying and the R/P section appears heavily tilted toward Trump, the posts are honest. Every one of them (besides alts), people feel free to speak their minds here. If you come bearing trash and call it gold you'll be laughed right out. Misc has a pretty good bullchit detector built in here. Now, certain views are laughed at here (lefties) but there is no overarching authority singling certain viewpoints for punishment.

One of my favorite forums on finance happens to ban nearly every right-winger, these guys are extremely intelligent (I would estimate median iq 130), but the echo chamber is almost unbearable. I would agree if that place was called cultish for that and other reasons. Misc is too big and has too wide a variety of posters to have a unified cult like group think mentality.
