Rural speak for guitar player. I'm not that good but I enjoy it. I can also do simple work on a guitar like adjusting the action, changing bridges and tuners and that sort of thing

Accounting legal framework. 2nd year paper that I took early. Law stuff is easy, it’s mainly logical reasoning.

Uhhh...long story. I had a lot of missteps along the way as far as getting a career started. The condensed version - worked in a factory a few years after HS, went to college (business), did 4 years in the Navy, got a Masters in Accounting, eventually landed the job with the DoD. Its a really good field if you can get your foot in the door.

yeah - networking and people skills are important. there are alot of engineers who can do the physics and calculus and whatnot to get their degree, but in the real world software does all of that for you. the ones who separate themselves at consulting firms are the people with a good personality who can manage clients and projects and bring in work. Anyone can do the work. Doing the work is easy. Landing the work is hard. That being said, doing the design work and understanding it is a prerequisite to advancing, so you can't ignore that either. so work on being well rounded, start networking and attending social events and join engineering societies (not sure if you are in US, but here that is ASCE and stuff like that). I am part owner of a 50 person firm. We have 50 people who can do the engineering work. We only have a handful that can do the rest. So I graduated 18 years ago (40yo) and now I don't do any design work but am responsible for my company's business development and strategic planning. So I network, play golf, drink beer, chase projects and get them under contract, and make big picture decisions. The design work, once under contract, I pass to one our design teams depending on the fit and everyone's workload.

I would have to spend a ton of time practicing to play that. I'm not a solo shredder by any means. I like to play rhythm and sing along type stuff.

Also a consultant. Most of my engagements focus around inclusion and retention and it's awesome.

Except for right now, today is brutal, but 99% of the time it's the best job in the world.
