I am good at math but to have been anything that is really math heavy like engineering would have been a struggle. As you can tell from this board I'm analytical and a good communicator, so I narrowed it down to either being a lawyer or something in finance.

Corporate finance is awesome because you rarely do the same thing twice, it's extremely analytical, and we are the decision makers just below the CEO.

I have no idea. I just know they make balling money and their results inform decisions that can impact tens of thousands of lives and hundreds of millions of dollars. Pretty cool stuff.

Me I’m a cyber security guy by education and have been working with computers since I started selling custom rigs at 11. My last official job was in robotics operations but my unofficial job is honestly to extensive to even explain. Well just say doing grimy chit for the federal government though pay is coming I’ve yet to get paid for. Some of which included cyber security but not as of recent.Bro I swear you been doing this chit for like ever

Depends. In a way, its not as "safe" a degree as people think because - like so many other fields it has gotten sort of saturated. Like so many other things - at entry level it sucks - everyone wants experience (even though oftentimes you could practically train a chimp to do the job) and no one wants to give it to you. I do emphasize though, I was in San Diego during that time and I think it was probably even more difficult there than a lot of other places.

Accounting is pretty versatile though (or atleast perceived that way), so there are a lot of other directions you can go with it. I have zero actual professional Accounting experience (although there are strong parallels with what I do), so I can't really comment on that. As previously mentioned though - I do recommend the Contracting field pretty highly and its not something a lot of people know or think about.

Yeah true. People say that jobs like that will be replaced by automation in years to come. For people born before the 80's had no fear of losing their jobs to robots. (Or so I think?). Who knows when that will happen actually, could happen next year or in 100 years.
Yeah I see what ur saying, sounds like something to atleast consider if things don't go to plan. The contracting field would require a long line of academics to get started. Which I'd like to think I'd be up to? But yeah, see how it goes lol. Does your job support you in day to day life, like, no negative balance or terrifying bills?

Dude yeah my mentor was a computer science teacher from university of Pittsburgh but I graduate risk analysis information security from psu. Started working for a place called computer literates only making computer parts for money cuz I didn’t even have a work permit when I was like 12. I love tech and what I’ve been planning is to do tech/government stuff including nasa. Though we’ll see how the chips fall exactly at the end. Robotics was cool cutting edge stuff but it was mind numbly simple (cuz I was only a robotics command level one I do not claim to be a robotics engineer by any means) and not exactly what I was most interested in. When the Fed originally reached out to me I was so psyched thinking in my head like hell yeah this is why I chose cyber security and penn state, I want to work for the nsa or cia, this is my chance to do some James Bond type chit with which I made the end goal of myself space travel. I can’t get much into specifics at all but I’ll just say feeling like I was James Bond was cool but it was also similar to a departed situation. Cuz I was going up against all types of corrupt law enforcement none of which who knew I was being directed by the fed and no one to reach out to directly when I needed help. It’ll have worked out for the best in the end but damn it’s been a rough road for real I still have all kinds of ptsd related sides and I’m still experiencing fallout for fighting corruption cuz of the fact I’m still in the city, though there are other reasons.
