Their forward group is deep - no point rushing him to play on the 4th line.

So long as he has a good season in the AHL, specifically the 2nd half, his development is still on track. Plenty of guys who go on to be solid pro's spend 1-2 years in the AHL first.

They're still high on him, and he's playing well with the Phantoms. Flyers just have a log jam at center. It wouldn't benefit him to come up and log 4th line mins on a checking line. You have Giroux, Couturier, and Hayes w/ Patrick coming back at some point. Unless AV moves Giroux to the wing there's no spot for him yet.

if they would've scored immediately its one thing but that puck got passed around him repeatedly, there's no "i didn't see it"

give guys an extra 2 minutes if a high stick gives them a little ouchie on their lip but rolling around in agony while holding your head doesn't even warrant a play stoppage

People often argue that the play needs to go on until the other team secures the puck because otherwise there's an incentive to embellish, but I'd much rather have Sean Avery situations (that can be addressed harshly after the fact anyways) if it means not unnecessarily risking a player's health. Even in soccer players have the decency to stop play when someone is down with obvious pain.
