I guess we just disagree on the ratio of reds that are good posters vs. garbage posters. In my own personal experience browsing the misc homepage, almost everytime I click into a thread that's absolute garbage, it's a red. I'm sure many others would back me up on that experience.

Well, TBH man the majority of the threads here are complete ****, created by reds or greens doesnt matter. But yeah obviously reds are in general worse posters than greens.

And within just a few weeks you're not only out of the red but have more than a 3:1 rep to post ratio. Hell, I repped you too. Let's be real here. Only the very worst posters stay red for any length of time.

Pretty sure I got negged by some high repper on my very first post and later got mod negged a couple times. Think I was red for only a very brief time.

That happens to like 90% of new users, thats pretty much the problem.

Good posters like you may get out of the red but not everyone is a good poster. Mediocre posters, dumb posters, teen posters that dont know **** etc will have a hard time.

Nope. The red should be for bad posters or trolls, good and great posters should have eventually high reps. But theres an inbetween too its just not black and white.

If a mediocre poster is randomly put into the red, they will just go deeper and deeper because lets be honest, the forum is harsher with reds. Dont get repped as much and get negged often.


Regardless, the problem here is not newbies being put in the red. The problem is newbies being negged to the red for literally no reason whatsoever by guys with ridiculously high rep powers, making it pretty almost impossible to get out of there.

I mean i agree with the spirit of the OP I suppose. I see newer members, and low reppers get absolutely dunked on by high reppers just because there is no recourse for them for doing so. Negs shouldn't be used because someone has a different opinion than you. And reds absolutely get no respect here, which makes it hard to even post here regularly, which leads to less users.

At the same time, the rep system here is like the only thing that makes this forum unique. Removing altogether is folly.

A +1 like system just turns it into instagram social media status. Any rep system needs to have a way to weight itself like the rep system here does. There is no rep game without it, and the rep game here is fun as fuk.
