I came into a huge chunk of profit flipping one of the Sigs I've gotten tired of. Do I buy:

Springfield Professional ($3200)
Wilson Combat CA Protector ($3300)
Dan Wesson PM7 ($1500) and pocket the rest

Only 1911 I own is a range officer operator in 9mm.

I had left two Chrome tabs open of primary arms, one the shopping cart and one a product page. Between those two tabs they started using like 30% of my cpu and 8GB of ram... lmao wtf they probably mining crypto or tracking my meta datas

Wilson is the only 1911 that holds its value. You can actually buy a Wilson, shoot the hell out of it for a few years, and sell it without losing a dime for some reason.

I've been offered a good bit more than I paid for my Para Blacks Ops and Recon now that Para is gone, and they are rare double stack 1911s, but Wilson is still considered the 1911 guy.

Dan Wesson if you want hands down the best "production" 1911 on the market. (Wouldn't even really say production. They're totally hand fit guns.)
Wilson if you want to drop 3K to say you own a Wilson.
The only used DW's I see going for considerably less than they cost new are their lower end models. Their $1,500+ models will hold ~80% of their value if you don't beat the **** out of it and neglect it.
Honestly, I've seen lots of $3,000+ Wilson's going for ~$2,000 (and less) as of late. Maybe it's desperate sellers, but deals on used Wilson's are not hard at all to come by. I think it's because the $3,000+ pistol market is small (in comparison to the sub $1,000 market) and someone dropping that kind of money is just going to buy brand new, not used.

Makes sense. I've never held a Wilson, but the DWs I've seen are pretty damn tight fit. Only downside is only two models are CA legal- the PM7 and the CBob. Anything else you're hunting for private party. Sucks I can't buy a full-size with front strap checkering.

On a positive note . . . I have almost another year before I have to suffer watching them blow a game they should have won again. They are the Sig Sauer of college football. Historically great name. Maddening lack of qc and slow to fix what's broken and nothing new they try seems to work very well.

you may want to get a beater colt 1911 or springfield 1911 first if you want to get a higher end custom. because if you don't understand production 1911's it would probably be hard to acquire an appreciation for the handfit custom 1911's.

Also, you will want to punch a hole through the wall if you get a 'dummy scratch' on your high end one, so the better part of owning a lower end one is you gain familiarity with the battery of arms...just so you can avoid that dreaded dummy scratch. It happened to my DW. It was such an eyesore I dished out the big bucks to send it back and get it fixed.

I used to have a Dan Wesson Valor. It was sweet but I just don’t like 1911s.

My range has Wilson’s for rent in 9 and 45 and they have a 9mm PCC too. I might shoot that today.

Are you able to buy newer production DW and WC guns with the CA roster? I'd suggest the DW and spend the rest on ammo, if you're allowed to buy more than 30 rounds per month with your communist gun laws
