I still tip 20% as long as service is good. Usually if I have a larger bill like this, it involves multiple drinks, apps, entree, and sometimes dessert (usually not cause I'm full af at that point). So, a lot of back and forth plus any little check ups in between, on top their other tables.

That's not my problem. I think only have gotten a free desert or something a few times and it was usually because of a mistaken order they would just have to dump anyways, or that's what they tell me. Restraunt owner gets nearly free help, sooooo they get what they pay for.

Depends on the size of the place, I'll happily throw 30-50% in smaller places but I've hung out with way too many servers pulling 250 to $400 in four to six hour shifts that blow it all every night to throw down much at the restaurants where they make good money.

It depends. I try not to tip unless socially expected. I'll tip 20% at good restaurants. If the watiress is "sexy" and tries to flirt or be friendly, I will tip 15%. I don't tip fast food. I will usually tip delivery for pizza like 10%. I try not to tip attractive women, usually only tip incels. I always tip delivery cash. If it's a manlet or a fat incel, I give him a large tip.

Food - just move the decimal place on the total for 10%
Haircut - add $ 5 to my $ 15 haircut to make it $ 20
Pizza Delivery - Usually tip generously just because I use to be a pizza delivery guy.

Same percentages. If you can afford a $100 meal you can afford to tip appropriately.

I had $50 in gift cards for Saltgrass, went with the wife the other night, I'm sure the waitress cringed when I handed her those with my CC thinking we would tip like chit, but the bill in total was $75, so she got a $15 or $16 tip.

I typically start at 20% and then round up. Sometimes a couple bucks more. I figure that extra dollar or two literally won't mean jack chit to me as soon as I leave the restaurant, but it may make the server feel a little bit better.

I start at 10% then depending on service will go up to 15%. Rarely a 20% tip unless the service is remarkable.

No i'm not that generous. I feel guilty every time. lol

I do 15-50% depending on a few factors. I have a minimum of $4 tip which I use sometimes when just getting breakfast somewhere and it’s barely $10.

Damn bro, its like I wrote this myself!

First, the black thing. Second, the being a former server thing is why I tip big at any place I plan on coming back to (as long as the service didn't suck). I remember when I was a server, I not only remembered the big tippers (and gave them better service) but as a staff we'd also talk about the big tippers. So someone else could get a big tip, then the next time they came in get a different server and get extra good service because they knew about the previous tip. There is a place down the street from me that I knew I'd be coming back to alot. The first time I was there by myself I dropped a $10 cash tip on a $30 tab. The next time I walked in they already knew me by name and service was great.

There are generally only 3 times I leave a poor or less than 15-20% tip. One is if the service sucks. What I tell people is if the service sucks, leave a bad tip. It sends more of a message than if you leave no tip. Leaving no tip just makes you look cheap, not that it was their service that led to it. The second one is if I am out of town or in some place I know I'll never be back to. Sometimes I short change the tip because I simply don't care. The third is just a judgement call when I feel like the situation dictates that I shouldn't tip by percentage of check. I think getting a $5 tip from a 2 person table is a nice tip, particularly if the table is quick (which alot of 2 tops are). As long as I don't involve the bar (servers have to tip out the bar by percentage), I'm probably going to leave $5 whether we ordered $20 worth of food or $80.

I feel like that's a good tip

That’s done right but if he had payed in cash I would require my waiter to report 11% cash tip. They aren’t allowed to clock out with 1000 in cash sales and less then 110 in reported tips or it’s an audit flag.

No, why must you tip for carry out. I hate this.

Same thing goes for in Smoothie places,cafeterias, burger joints. this tipping chit is getting out of hand in the US.

I've taken a stand to not tip Uber/Lyft.

Those services had done a great job at first replacing the conventional yellow cabs where tipping was customary and the initial value proposition of Uber/Lyft was that the drivers "tip" was factored into the price. They have since made a shift to encourage or push tipping which is antithetical to the reasons I began using their apps in the first place so I will not follow suit.

I never understood this but I'm assuming its just the same paper as the delivery receipts. Although some places have an actual computer screen asking you to tip so I don't know. What is the cut off on someone just doing their job at deserving a tip these days?


Sit down restaurants I always do 20%.
