Are you a generous tipper?

Assuming the server does a decent job with service. I consider generous AT LEAST 20%. Terrible service is a whole different story, of course.

I remember one year I went to lunch with a couple co-workers at a pizza joint. There was a younger girl who was working alone (serving, answering calls, baking). One of the co-workers was nice enough to pay for the lunch. Total was around $20. Peeked at the receipt when leaving and noticed she left a $1.88 tip. Aggravated me a little because I took notice of how much she was doing by herself. I decided to throw another $7 on the table, which was all I had at the time. Probably would of gave more if I could, honestly. In general, I tip at least 20% as long as the service was good.

I was conditioned to over-tip by one of my long time bros who was a server back in the day when we'd go out regularly. No problem with it to this day, but if I'm out and have particularly bad service I'll let my tip do the complaining.

I tend to tip at least 15%, sometimes I'll go up to 25% if they're extra nice.

With that said I hate tipping, but I understand it's something I'm signing up for if I go to a sit-down restaurant. I hate the idea that at a restaurant, the cost of the ingredients is usually less than like $3-4, depending, and then they deem the service and convenience to be worth the remaining $15+. When you start to step back and just think about how that works, and where your money is really going, it makes you realize how asinine restaurants are lol. Fast food restaurants are no different, except the fact you evade a tip, but are still charged 2-3x or more what the ingredients are really worth.

I always over tip for good service. But, I was also a server when I was a really young adult, so I remember how much I appreciated it since you don’t get paid a livable wage. Plus where I worked, we tipped out busboys because they worked just as hard to clear our tables so we could get more customers in at a faster rate. So the tips didn’t exactly last long in your pockets. It’s just something I’ve always done because I’ve been on the receiving end.

Sometimes I noticed the tip I through in negated the cheap fukc actually paying his share. I always demand to pay separatists.

Quoting myself, but I actually had dinners where the bill is a lot and I pay what I ate and drank plus $20 and most others did too. Which more than covers the bill, way more. Then one or two fukc tards pays not what they ate and drank because our tips covered the bill and then some. I don't like those motherfukcers.

I tend to go by service, both quality and quantity, not so much the actual amount on the bill. Overall, I tip well.

LOL @ non-tippers. Imagine being such a peasant that little amount bothers you. What goes around comes around.

Most of all, service can make or break the whole dining experience. Servers remember two kinds of people, one's that tip well, and those who don't tip at all. Pro-tip: when you find a good server, tip them well and request them. You take good care of them they will take good care of you. Oh, they forget to put drinks on the bill and other things. Dessert just shows up.

I had a good friend who was a server at Applebees last year. She was struggling with personal life and bills, so I know she was extremely appreciative of any tips during that time. My girl and I went to dinner with her serving us and we spent around $40-45ish on dinner. Combined, we left her a $50 tip ($25 each). This was around Christmas time as well. I enjoy helping others as long as I can afford it and not hurt me financially. That's if they truly mean well and their story checks out.

20% as the norm. sometimes more if the service was great

unless it's drinks. $1 per beer or shot. 15-20% if it's something that required time to make

tip barber 20-25%

I tip well at places I go to or order from often so that Im provided with good service, and continued good service.

Other places get minimum tips and in some cases no tips when the service is utter crap.

NO... I am a fkn horrible tipper because I have always felt like waiters & waitress' always hold their hand out expecting me to a$$ up extra money for them doing a fkn job they chose to do in the first goddamn place... which is in fact not my fkn problem.. get a better paying job.

That said , I have had a few occasions where the service was above and beyond and I did my best to compensate for that.


Now... before I get ever tray totting ******* coming at me...

I leave the tipping for my wife to do.. she basically worked her way through college working as a waitress at a high end steakhouse here in Houston so knows what its like to survive on tips.

Generally yeah. I delivered pizzas in college and can count on one hand the times I got stiffed. People 95% of the time tipped very well so it's just me paying it forward. Although I travel so much it really sucks going to foreign countries where tipping is vastly different and I have to resist the temptation to overtip/tip at all.

Yes. I was a server once so that affects it a bit. I sometimes even tip the people at the hole in the wall pizza place we frequent even though I pick up, just because they're awesome and always make our pizzas fantastic.

I happily tip at least 15% up to $40 bill. If it’s a small bill, I’ll tip 20%.

If bill goes up to $80 and $100 I cringe at 15%...

What do you guys do for larger bills?

I wonder how you would feel if you owned that Restauraunt and drinks and desserts were just showing up at your customer’s table in exchange for higher tips to the waiter. That’s just BULLLLLSHEEEEEET

I usually point it out to the waiter and have them fix it...USUALLY. There have been a few times when I let it go cuz I was feeling cheap lol

I start at 20% and they can work their way up or down from there. Usually stick around the 20% mark 90% of the time. If I go lower it's because the service was so drastically poor that I will just leave whatever coins I get back if paying cash, or if card enough to round the bill to the nearest whole dollar to make a point. On the other hand if the service is exceptional I have no problem bumping that up to 25-30+ percent.

A lot of people forget, but if you order water, add that on when you tip. If I was wait staff, I would hate bringing water to people.

Always 15-20% at restaurants, but just a buck or two at the bar if I’m just getting beer. Some of my friends tip like chit and it bugs me. For example leaving a 2.50 tip on a 17.50 tab to make it even

Here's a question for the rest of you. Do you tip when you pick up a pizza from Dominos or whatever? I've noticed that when you pay by card some places even ask if you want to add a tip on the reader and it's defaulted to 20%.

I cringe and I don’t if I’m picking up pizza.

Even if it’s crappy service I tip Atleast 8 to 10% cuz I know we can’t be at our best performance 100% of the time.

But what about when it’s a Huge bill like $80 or $100? What do you do?

I don't. There's been a couple times where the option has came up on the pad and they exited out without me even picking the option. I think Subway has this option on their touch pad as well.

Adequate service in a restaurant? 20% I go alittle higher if theyre really good. Now if they suck or they are a rude ****, ill lower that chit quick as phuck. If its bad enough, ill literally give 0%. No phucks given. But they have to be REALLY bad and REALLY rude for that to happen.

Also I dont tip on takeout, when I go inside to pick it up. Theres always a line there for it. But who is tipping that?

Ate at a chitty diner with the fam last night. Dudes were nice, guy working the flat top was efficient and even though the first guy got slammed he remembered to stop by with the fry sauce he had reccomended that we didn’t even ask for.

Gave him a 20 tip on 50 buck meal, won’t be going back, don’t care hope it made them happy and merry Christmas from a satisfied customer.
