yea, im looking for a gun that i can just cock it by pulling the top back, switch the external safety and its ready to shoot. kinda like an airsoft gun

i have no idea what Double action/single action/striker fired even means

You are probably better off with something more simple, with fewer controls. Like a striker fired and no safety

I will admit, some people have converted their V3 into a V1/V3 hybrid V4.1 where you have the pre cocked V1 trigger with the safety of a V3. Pretty sweet setup and would be the only reason why I would get a V3.

Edit: Get a proper holster Vegas and stop worrying. Safetys will only get in the way and the only true safety is your booger finger.

Yeah, that's kind of the point.

If you plan on pulling the trigger on a loaded gun and having it not shoot, you probably shouldn't have guns

The one and only legit use of a manual safety on a carry gun is when you are inserting the gun into the holster that you are wearing (aka re-holstering). Do this slowly, carefully, and deliberately, while looking, and this concern is pretty much gone.

Don't be like the majority of reddit and arfcome neckbeards who can't keep their finger off the god damn trigger and excuse it with iT's PoInTeD iNa SaFe DiReCtIoN. Finger off the trigger and completely out of and away from the trigger guard until sights on target and preparing to fire. Problem solved

HK DA/SA triggers are heavy and gritty as fk. 100% aids. Would never own. Rather throw rocks at attacker.

Double action means on the first trigger pull its a lot heavier and all subsequent pulls its pretty light. This helps to keep you from shooting when you don't mean to (ND). Single action only is a light trigger pull each time (think 1911), Striker fire has no hammer and instead uses a striker to fire the gun (think Glock or most other polymer handguns).

I like an external safety as well but people like us are in the minority. If you think about it when you have to use your pistol in a defensive scenario you want as few steps as possible

I decided to get my CZ RAMI with the safety to remove the grit from the trigger when It's time to cajunize it. I carry it loaded and hammer dropped. I use the finger in the gap of the hammer with a trigger pull technique to drop the hammer safely. :P

Edit: It's the safest way I can think of dropping the hammer without leaving room for error ex: hammer slipping from weak finger grip etc. A meaty finger in the way makes a nice hammer drop safety.

You know the safety and decocker can both achieve the exact same great feeling trigger with CZ's right? Not sure what idiot started the rumor that safety models can get a better trigger than decocker models, but that person should be shot.

I don't have a ton of experience with Da/SA guns myself but I love CZs. I wish all the city boys hadn't found out how good they are and drove up demand making them expensive. Similar thing happened to those Croatian guns that eventually turned into the XDs

Something about those CZs just feels right. I get the same feeling with 1911s in a different sort of way

How do you feel about the 97's? None of my local shops have one and I'd hate to order a gun I've never even picked up before. I'm thinking about getting a metal frame .45 for my next pistol and don't want another 1911

yea external safety literally takes half a second to switch. I understand if u are a police officer why someone would not want that but for an ordinary citizen who will be keeping my gun at home or in my car, i prefer an external safety.

97's are bad ass guns if you want a steel framed .45 gun that isn't a 1911 for sure. Would have bought one already, but have no interest in a .45.

Double action and single action refer to guns with hammers. In a single action, the hammer is already cocked back and pulling the trigger only performs the single action of dropping the hammer. In double action, the hammer is down and pulling the trigger performs the dual function of pulling the hammer back and then also releasing it. On most modern hammer fired pistols, the action of the slide will cock the hammer back, making every shot a single action. Many hammer fired pistols also have a decocker which drops the hammer without striking the firing pin, so you can load a round by racking the slide (cocking the hammer back in the process) and the decocker will drop it, making it need to fire in double action mode, or the hammer to be pulled back again. As you can imagine, the feeling in the trigger is usually much longer and much heavier (some would say "safer", since negligent pulls are that much more difficult) in double versus single because of having to draw the hammer back.

Then you have striker fire which are hammerless guns. When you rack the slide, the striker pin is pulled back and cocked in place internally. Pulling the trigger releases the pin. This is what a gun like Glock and similar use.

if i pull the top back to cock the gun...and the bullet is in the chamber...and i dont want to fire it...how can i decock the gun so it wont go off if i pull the trigger...is that even possible? the bullet will have to go back in the clip

Done right it doesn't add any time to the draw, and is done on auto pilot just like that every single time the gun is drawn. Which pretty much leaves you handling a cocked and unlocked short light SA trigger...for safety lol

Do not pull the trigger on a loaded gun unless you want it to fire

Get training.

FFS just get on YouTube and start watching legit gun channels to learn the most basic **** about how they function.

If you rack the slide and cock a DA/SA gun into SA, you can drop the hammer by either engaging the safety or engaging the decocker, depending on the gun.You don't pull the trigger on a loaded gun to decock it(revolvers excepted)

I don't know of and can't imagine a semi auto where you have to pull the trigger to decock because that's just plain dumb AF

Lots of guys actually carry 1911's with safety off since it has a grip safety.

Manual safeties on carry guns are a dumb/bad idea. Period. If you can carry it hammer down, safety off, that's fine. But hammer back with safety on is fking retarded.

Some pistols have what is called a decocker. I have a striker fired Canik that has one. When you press the decocker it kills the trigger. To get it back into firing condition you do what is called a press check to get the striker back into firing position. The bullet never goes back into the magazine. You'll need to remove the magazine and rerack the slide to clear the chamber
