Misc 405 For Reps Callout Thread

So a few people expressed interest in another thread about hitting a 405 amrap deadlift set. It's time to nut up or shut up. Gonna keep this simple. <150#, 150-200#, 200-250# and 250#+. Dead stop or touch and go, but the touches have to be controlled, not bounced. Straps allowed.

150-200's -

Jk202 - 7 reps

200-250's -

JamesA1990 - 4 reps

thought this was a bench thread.

honestly deadlift is a cope lift. some guy just posted a 630 PR today (I repped him) but he looks like a twink.

Thought this would be bench, anyone can do 405 deadlift for 10-15 reps as long as they've been lifting for at least like 6 months

Ha! I'll drop an old "cardio" training vid. This was 405x20@ 200lbs. Had more in me but was just gassed and was not going to risk getting sloppy on my form.

Yea...not so much deadlifting lately. Rear ended in car accident last year. Spinal fracture and 2-bulging and 1-displaced disk.

No worries....wish I could play though.....I'll cheer you guys on. Look forward to seeing your vid.

Damn that bites man, hate to see a fellow lifter knocked down by something like that. I hope you are able to recover 100%!

Thanks man. No worries. Like anything else, just have to do the best we can with what we got!

Injuries are a double-edged sword. Breaking my neck in 2009 provided the motivation to get back in the gym after a decade off. I am looking for ways to find and keep motivation once again. I will just have to do it in other ways.

Hoping to recover as well, but doc said basically there was so much soft tissue damage, it may never return to where it once was. The one thing that is different now training at 47 vs 25 is injuries dont heal as quickly. I just have to let time do it's thing and do what I can do day by day.

I used this as motivation to get in the best shape I have ever been (which I currently am) but it is hard to resist my motivation to push heavy weights.

In on seeing some good vids!!!

I may try it tonight. Not even sure if I'll post it bc Miscers gonna Misc.

I'm not nearly as strong as I used to be, and I just stared getting back into powerlifting-style training about five months ago. So we'll see what happens.

Is strength loss from weight loss? I'm trying to ask people how much strength they lose when cutting to get an idea of how much strength loss is normal and acceptable when cutting.

No I just went through a period where I got really fat and out of shape. I've lost a bunch of weight over the last 5 months (like almost 90 pounds) and my strength is coming back up pretty quickly. A few weeks ago I deadlifted 425 for 3 reps and it wasn't the hardest thing in the world, so maybe I could knock out something respectable with 405.

I just meant that I'm not as strong as I was when I competed several years back.

I've found for me personally I have to keep carbs high when cutting to maintain any semblance of strength. If I try to go the low carb/keto route my chit falls through the floor and I start hating training really quick. But that's just me, plenty of others do very well on low carb. If strength is a concern at all I would reduce overall volume in your training while cutting, but keep the relative intensity high.
