It's because these people are delusional.

None of them actually understand how many underlying concepts and principles of success have to either be implicitly or explicitly understood for them to get to their spot.

You will never find a truly accomplished individual talking as brazenly as some of these people, why? Because they know the real stupidity, cowardice and repetitiveness that pervades the world. <-To get to that spot you actually have to interact with people, observe people and read, most barely do one.

One thing you cannot underestimate ever is people's ability to talk out of their ass when they have NO idea on the subject matter, it's rather astonishing really, but then again people think if they talk **** about someone or something that reflects well on them, so logic isn't something we can hold them to.

Driving along the highway, come to the part where there's normally heavy traffic, take the offramp in my zero emission vehicle into a tunnel and drive under all the traffic, pop back up the other side and get home 45 minutes early. Sounds exactly like the subway. Thanks twitter.

Even in terms of marketing and self promotion he was pretty smart, he had bad hands and couldnt get knockouts for the second half of his career but he played up the heel well to sell fights.


In the ring he was a genius. Always prepared, never drank, smoked or did drugs, didnt balloon up in weight between fights, only drains 2-5 lbs max to make weight. Conserves energy the entire fight so by the end his opponent is exhausted and hes still fresh. I think it's impossible to deny that Elon has done some pretty impressive things (putting aside his current companies, his early success launching and selling Zip2 and PayPal) but equally the cult of personality around him needs to end.

SpaceX and Tesla, while both pretty dope, are bankrolled by the taxpayer and all of the actual heavy lifting is done by the engineers and physicists (who are notoriously underpaid there) so this whole "real life Tony Stark" **** is just cringeworthy.

tesla takes a net loss in every car they sell, did you not see the numbers.
They make profit on every car they sell. That's not the same as a companies net profit. The cost of ICEs is stagnant while the cost of batteries is only going down, which will lead to better and better margins. The design of the cars is not the same and it's not that easy to just reprogram the robotics. If it was they would've done it by now.. they're going to have to restructure their entire build line. Traditional car companies outsource almost all of their cars components and then piece it all together whereas Tesla now makes everything in house. They also don't have to deal with the dated dealership model which hurts both consumers and the car companies. It was useful ages ago to get inventory off the books but it's dated and people prefer direct to consumer where they don't get ripped off by car salesmen. They have several competitive advantages and the market is just now waking up to it.

Those aren't individuals.. He's put in 80-100 hours a week for years. You have no idea what it's like to put in those kind of hours.. Gates is and is probably the only individual who is having a similar or greater impact. As far as the tug of war it's more about showing that it's superior to the F150, which is the benchmark for pickups, rather than the actual physics.

Like him or not he is a visionary tackling some tough problems, anyone like that is going to come up with some stupid chit. No one was buying EVs seriously before. No one landed rockets vertically either. It is quite something to build a teams of people and accomplish these things while much of the world is just incrementally changing things.

the design of the car is essentially the same. the body, suspension, steering, interior. all the same. It took chevy more time money and effort completely redesign and to retool their factories to make the new mid engine corvette than it would be to simply make an electric sedan. there is nothing crazy or special involved in it, car companies make new designs all the time. Its expensive but completely within their abilities.

why haven't they done this, well the entire market share of ev's has been less than 2%, as that market share increases we will see how tesla does.

now don't get me wrong, i have no ill will towards tesla, I just don't see how they can compete with the absolute monsters of companies like VW Merc Ford Toyota, I mean those companies just dwarf them and they often work together and share platforms, giving them even more power. like a squirrel vs 10 elephants.

You're seriously underestimating how much of an undertaking it will be to retool their entire factories. Again all of those companies are reliant on other companies making the components and them putting them all together. This is one of the main reason they're struggling to produce comparable electric vehicles. Where can they go to get the components?
