It's possible an aftermarket barrel was installed, any way to find out?

Take it to a gunsmith, he will know how to properly field strip it without damaging it. My guess whoever had that HK did some work on it by themselves.

Are you making sure the slide stop engages? Maybe need to push it up a bit to get it to lock? You did get it at a pawn shop, so perhaps it's a tad imperfect?

how can i tell by looking at the barrel how many shots have been fired through it? Also when i inspected the gun there was lots of lint/dust in there ..bad sign >?

this is becoming a new valid safety concern, as it should slide lock every time you pull the trigger and the slide cycles.

i figured it out, i wasnt pushing up on the slide release while pulling the slide back. If you fail to do that it wont stay in place (at least on the P30L)

having another issue, when i push the slide release button its not pushing out far enough on the other side...its supposed to come out 1/4 of an inch but its barely poking out ..seems like its stuck and seems like the gun has been sitting around for a few years

Neither. Sideways . . . like wine. Have to keep the boolit moist.

You don't have a boolit rack? Rookies.

edit: finally got it...had to push the slide release button while the slide was 100% back (held by my hand) and not idle ..(has to be aligned properly with the groove on the other side) this **** is confusing when u do it for the first time but after u get it it seems super easy
