Doubles advocate here: even if the crowd (generalizing) was offended they probably would still clap and fake laugh to keep up appearances.

I don't think anyone on this forum can use their powers of wizardry to get in to the minds of the hollywood elite in attendance and discern their innermost thoughts about Gervais' performance. As such we will likely never know and this will be Misc R&P Theory #753981.

I wish they would’ve panned the camera around to DeNiro and Leo when he said how Hollywood is in no position to lecture the public.

I watched an interview with DeNiro saying “Trump is crazy” and when asked what he’s doing that’s so crazy he just said “the guy is crazy” lol.
