Note how in this one the G19 completely covers up the 2.0. They are effectively identical in size. Some may find the aggressive grip texture of the 2.0 uncomfortable against the skin. Talon grips would fix that, if one were so inclined. Doesn't bother me though.

I grew up shooting and just kinda picked up stuff along so I'm not really sure where you'd get classes on that but this is really important for people getting into guns as an adult. Hopefully Ikeman or Farley can chime in as I've seen them both recommend different types of classes in the past and I don't want this post to go unnoticed. Do you want to learn how to shoot for hunting or self defense, pistols or rifles cause they are two very different skill sets?

I guess I would say I want to become knowledgeable in the general use and care of firearms, if that makes sense. But probably more focused of pistols for practicality's sake.

Understandable. Without knowing anything else about what you want to use a gun for I'd recommend anybody getting into guns right now to buy a 5.56 AR. They are as cheap as they will ever get and are in more political danger than any other type of gun. You can get a decent AR right now for sub $400 it is absolutely insane how cheap they are.

I'd step up in quality from a Freedom edition PSA rifle. That's bottom tier. Minimum I'd start at is about $620 or so for a Ruger MPR or the 16" version of it.

Smaller pistols hold fewer rounds, have shorter barrels which might mean a little less terminal ballistic performance, and are more difficult to shoot (because heavier guns absorb recoil better and because larger they have a longer sight radius and sometimes fit more of your hand/fingers for grip)

'Number of rounds is the biggest trade off. There are tons of police videos out there of criminals taking several bullets to subdue and in a self defense situation with the adrenaline going you probably aren't going to be as accurate as you are at the range so you want as many rounds as you can get

To put some numbers on this, average hit rate for officer involved shootings and private citizen self defense with a handgun is legit like 18-20%. And handguns can take several (or more) good hits to stop an attacker. At the same time, the typical private citizen defensive gun use is rule of 3's, it happens within 3 yards, 3 rounds, and 3 seconds. Close, personal, violent, fast. But not always. More ammo is better.

Main reason so many DGU's are few rounds, is because of the psychological stop (as opposed to physiological). In other words, what ASP calls the FIBS factor...F-, I've Been Shot (or shot at). Most people most of the time don't want shot. That's where most stops come from, you shoot at them or shoot them and they bail. But, if you need a physiological stop...all bets are off.

Oh, and multiple attackers is quite common

Some really good channels. The first SW I carried at work was an old school 6906. I am a big fan of Smith and Wesson, had a Shield at one point. I wouldn't consider myself a Glock fanboy but I do frequent Hickok's channel, and he is very awesome with his reviews. I don't know man, it seemed way different to me the Compact 2.0 vs. the G 19. The full size MP is only a few inches bigger. I just picked up a G43X today.

The upper can be shipped to your house but the lower has to be sent to an FFL. The lower receiver is the part that is considered the firearm and all other parts can be sent directly to your home

Just purchased my first handgun a sig p226. Spent quite a bit more than the ones you listed, ended up spending a little over 900....but pick it up tomorrow! Can't wait to take it out to the range and start shooting.
