Please for all that is good in this world, none of you should be comparing yourselves to that chart. If you can in fact relate to that chart, stop everything you are doing financially and start doing the complete opposite.

It is inheritance, I own 10% of the total. The lump at some point will be split between me and my brother.

Not gonna act like I somehow was able to pay for it, save all I have, go to gradate school all at the same time.

My family is top notch at saving money and building wealth over time, but not great at investing (not bad per say, just have no background in it really).

I hope to be the one who learns to do both amazingly.

Edit: Other than the land, the rest I have earned on my own while paying for graduate school myself (worked full time while going).

How much are just land taxes on that parcel roughly? just curious. have no idea how just land purchases work. i know for my house it's the lot size/estimated value each year some percent based off that for my area i'm still obviously pretty clueless lol

All good. I was just curious. A lot of people will "forget" about a mortgage or lien when calculating.

I personally don't count the two. I don't think you really should unless say you have multiple cars i guess and most aren't necessary for day to day living but that's just too confusing.

Only "small" items i'd count like that are things that are a decent chunk of change and hold their value.

Like more expensive watches. Or other higher end luxury items.

I don't care about your poverty 7% average annualised return or 20% at peak bubble, i have increased my monthly savings amount x10-x15 in 2 years.

I never said anything about investing in gold, I said 'putting' on purpose because it is insurance

I'm 25 with a net worth of 200K right now, which puts me at +$175K above this chart. I've been "working" for 3 years, but I had saved up $25k by the time I graduated college.

I've been living at home, saving money, and making a few smart investments. I got a full ride to college so I never had to worry about student debt, always pay off my credit card, or I don't have any debt in general.
What part of living at home, making a few "smart" (lucky) investments and a full ride to college sounds normal to you? You have high net worth for your age because of extraordinary circumstances.

I used to have little debt, just a car and student loans - but that was in my low-mid 20s.

Then bought a house and started a family...lol

That feel when you make good money but networth ain't where it needs to be. All good cause we're heading in the right direction. 401k since 21, house adds some netwealth as well. Also wife is SAHM for now while kiddos are little. Once they get older she'll likely start working again and then we really will be building our wealth even more. If we keep going on this path we should be upper six figs maybe even seven figs by the time we are 40/early 40s.

My friend said originally when they had their first baby that she'd be a SAHM for the first year. I understood that. Fastforward to now and it's been over 2.5 years and their 2nd baby is on the way in a few months.

But hey, if he can pull it off, more power too 'em. Good for him. I'm just a finance nerd so kids low key scare me.

This chart doesn't even make sense. Why are they adding pre-tax savings and post-tax savings? Am I missing something?
