It's winter. My abs go south for the winter. Should have probably stop doing that since it's not getting any easier for them to come back the older I get.

Strong thread derail........

Question, or call it opinion on the topic of thread title:

I've been carrying my hk vp9 AIWB and a ruger lcp II in my pocket. Thoughts on carrying 2 firearms vs one with spare mags, or both? This is for EDC.

can go the route of meatie, and carry 4 spare mags for the hk and leave the lcp, or carry both or just the lcp.

reasoning for carrying both is for ease of access/drawing. the hk is the preference, so the lcp serves as backup to hopefully act as a solve for most situations i would encounter. Any other, i'm in a warzone and need to gtfo or bring something bigger.
the above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks for your time.

What first aid kit do you carry? If the answer is none, or the equivalent of band-aids, forget the spare mag or second gun and carry something to stop legit bleeding in that pocket. Small tourniquet and/or gauze/israeli type bandage, etc. Lots of pocket expedient IFAK's out there.

The chances of a 'law abiding' private citizen who understand avoidance and deescalation needing a second mag or gun are extraordinarily low. Just, so low. However, people get injured all the time, all kinds of ways.

BTW, if GTFO is an option, you take it, every time, there's no "oh I only need a handgun to shoot my way out of this I'm good", no, if GTFO is an option, take it

Now, if you have a full size semi auto primary, and you have first aid kit, and a good hand held flashlight, how about a non-lethal option that doesn't require being within arms reach...pepper spray.

Cover more bases before doubling down on the one you are least likely to need. Having a VP9 puts you in a really good spot there already.

Got the primary, non lethal, first aid, and hand held light covered?

Then I'd go to a secondary small gun. A second gun fixes everything a spare mag fixes, and more. You can arm somebody else with it and you can fix any possible malfunction or breakage to the primary that way, plus expand your accessibility/drawing options

You must be new here.

On your question . . . comes down to personal preference and playing the odds. How often has a citizen needed to go to a spare mag and/or a back-up gun? I think the average # of shots in a defensive encounter is 2 or 3. So it's up to you. If you're looking to hedge your bets and be more prepared, a spare mag would probably be choice #1. Comes down to how much you want to tote around all the time.

But if you find yourself needing to pull your weapon the odds say "it" will be over before you would need to change a mag or have time to pull a back-up.

**of course, if you carry a P365 . . . a backup gun is probably not a bad idea.

Didn't think about an IFAK, there's the basic one i have the that comes with the car, but that's not quite EDC. i alternate between a j5 tactical and a streamlght protac 2l for a flashlight. Do have a 4 D cell maglite flashlight in the car as another alternative when on the road (this is not something i carry just for car trouble incidents).

No midrange non lethal. Aside from the vp9 and lcp, a tac pen and a folding knife. Did the pepper spray for a bit, but found things to be too bulky and carrying around too much. The tac pen is slim enough, and same for the knife.

Usually can put the lcp in my backpocket without too much print and not looking like a wallet, and can then put a IFAK in my pocket, but not a fan of sitting on it....being the secondary.

Any recommendations for IFAK?

New to more regular posting, but long time lurker. Read through a few threads as they were happening.

I agree, though. Chances of firing 15+ rounds in an encounter, as a civilian as Farley added, very low.

But that did remind me of something. I took a class a few years ago and the instructor made a comment about when is a safe distance to discharge your firearm, or to draw and discharge your firearm. I believe it was something like 15 yards. Reasoning being the average draw time, and how quickly someone at 15 yards can be on top you, just a matter of seconds, maybe 2 or 3. Now you're in trouble.

My lcp is .380 acp and i like it. Maybe 500 rounds through it, which isn't much, but no issues with eating ammo.

Only thing i did was use some white paint, nail polish worked great, on the rear sight. It was tough to see, and that helped a lot.

Hahaha, Kyle usually spends some time in the booth so I spoke with him a little. Yeager actually did roll through so we spoke briefly. The rest no, but I'm not big into the industry "celeb" thing so I don't go far out of my way. I only interact with them if they're people I know or I'm pulled in for something work related.

And Phil is a good friend so he definitely doesn't count. I see him literally daily.

Imminent threat of serious bodily harm or death. Put another way, ability, opportunity, actual jeopardy (for serious bodily harm or death, forcible felony, whatever terms by state). <--Justified to draw and/or fire

If a person is threatening you with a contact weapon from a close-enough distance, that generally represents lethal force and calls for drawing your gun while (if you can) moving, possibly firing. You will generally see people parrot 21 feet as this magical distance because of Tueller, but that's too close. 21 feet is a typical distance where, if a person is standing facing you from 21 feet, and you are standing facing them, old hollywood-west high noon face-off style, and you draw when they start to move, they'll plunge that knife into you (or hit you over the head with the object, whatever) before you can draw and fire or, maybe if you're fast, you'll get one shot off right before they get you.

And of course remember that even if you're super star speed and you draw and hit them square 3 times in 1.1 seconds, they still might get you because guns especially handguns aren't magic and it's not like the movies and people don't just stop and drop because they got shot you might hit 'em good several times and not even know it because they haven't changed their actions at all

Fine to be new. The more the merrier. I was just joking that we have a long, distinguished history of derailing for stretches . . . just happens with a thread that's gone on as long as it has. Lots of gun/weapon and related talk, but there are other topics we spin off into at times.

"21 Foot Rule". Anything within that with a holstered gun and you better be Doc Holliday. So farther than that is ideal. 21 feet is like the VERY closest you probably have a remote chance of drawing and maybe hitting the target.

EDIT: In after Farley

Speaking of Doc Holiday, they made him look like a bish in the Wyatt Earp movie. He was all sickly and just rode Wyatt’s nuts. I don’t know why he gets so much credit.

"21 Foot Rule". Anything within that with a holstered gun and you better be Doc Holliday. So farther than that is ideal. 21 feet is like the VERY closest you probably have a remote chance of drawing and maybe hitting the target.

EDIT: In after Farley
thanks for the input.

although i do think a muzzleloader may have more "stopping" power. Pry not, otherwise they would be more common, i think, or it's just down to the "carry more every day" mantra. *shrug*

certainly no way I'm Doc Holiday. And to Farley's mention about guns not being magical, especially pistols now, yea. Still no bueno.

Also seems like there isn't much new people that come in and stick around, happy to stay. And good video. Illustrates it well
the above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks for your time.

What would you rather have as a full time suppressor host?

BCM MK2 BFH 11.5" (or 12.5") with MCMR rail
Geissele 11.5" Super Duty (10.5" SMR MK16)
BCM MK2 BFH 14.5" pinned with MCMR (no SBR restrictions or pistol BS)

Can't say I got close enough to smell all that many people. Though the booth was absolutely slammed all week so it seemed to add humidity...

I did get some time to wander the show. Not much really stood out this year. CZ's Dan Wesson DWX was kind of cool. I'm pretty impressed with Vortex's new 1-10 LPVO. Also excited to see hiperfire offer an MPX trigger. Mossberg's new 940JM looks like a big improvement over the old one. I talked to Lena about that one to see if it was marketing nonsense or if she was actually happy with it and she had good things to say. But overall there wasn't a lot of stuff that I would go out and buy.

Kyle is a good dude. We've worked with him for years.

Yes, that configuration will run. While not pushed as a "modular" platform all P365 slide variations function with all grip module variations. The dust cover length on the 365XL was very much intentional for that compatibility.
