I know someone who has been dealing with a BPD guy for years now but she figured it out quickly. Once he was blocked everywhere, he created new profiles on social media to stalk her with. Any time she'd post something where she appeared happy, he'd send more threatening emails that yammered on for pages about how she was such a bad person and how he was 100% devoted to her, how could she not be in love with him still? I read a few of them and they were nonsensical rants about how the world needed to see why she was actually a bad person. It really is all about control. If he can't control her, he'll try to control the way others perceive her, with unflattering videos and emails to bosses, family, anyone. Which to the normal person, who cares, right? I honestly thought it was weird, like why can't you just tell him to fuk off when she told me this, then looked at me with the most intense expression and said something like, "You need to understand that the moment he knows I've stopped caring about his threats, he'll kill me and then himself. It will be his final act of control." As far as I know though he's left her alone for a while now maybe he found someone else to fixate on. He's been arrested multiple times for stalking, domestic violence and violating restraining orders yet still has an arsenal of firearms he posts to social media. BPDs are like emotional terrorists, and usually so threatening that you can't just go NC on them unless you have serious resources to handle them. The worst part is he's LEO or was, not sure after his most recent charge so it's been difficult for his past abusees to navigate the legal system. He constantly threatens to kill himself which I'm sure everyone at this point is like oh noooooooooo don't do that. Sounds bad but the world would be a better place if he finally did kill himself.

Seriously, if you ever find out someone you're involved with is borderline, run for the fuking hills. They will ruin your life. I also think it's almost identical to PTSD in men and it's misdiagnosed way too often as a female mental disorder, or maybe there's stigma in diagnosing veterans with BPD, not sure. Anways, chaos and drama are all they know, and the moment they feel you can't be controlled by them anymore, they become suicidal, homicidal, or both.

I've never been close to anyone with BPD but my friend's mom has it. She has uncontrollable temper tantrums and has been to jail multiple times for messing with the police (tripped an officer just for the hell of it) and violent streaks.

There's good time and bad times.

We work on it as a team, we go to dr. appt.'s together, make sure we're both on the same page with what's going on medication wise and we adjust and adapt as needed. Not everything is a win and sometimes its very disheartening and overwhelming, but for us its worth it and that's what makes the work doable.

I don't think its necessarily something you recommend or don't recommend, but its more what two people are willing to do with and for each other when there's a strong foundation built out of love and it feels right. It that wasn't the case I wouldn't do it.

I take pride in what I've learned and the strength I've gained.

Yes. Single worst experience of my entire life. She was batchit crazy. The only highlight of my entire experience with her was the bedroom cardio. Everything else was a living, breathing hell. She was a giant attention hwore, and tried to claim i got her pregnant twice (each time i attempted to break things off with her). Once i did successfully break things off she stalked and harassed me any way she could...blocked numbers, calling/emailing me at work, sending false pregnancy tests and baby bump pics to me. She legit took a year and a half of my life from me before she finally gave up...and she ONLY gave up because she found some other poor bastard to sink her teeth into.

Please run as far as you can. If you aren't strong willed, these women will ruin your life.

I dated a woman for two years whom I suspect has BPD and has not been diagnosed. Her mother has it and has been in therapy for it and appeared to find it helpful; she certainly was more stable, at times, than my ex-girlfriend. I had hoped that the family history would have served as a bridge, and; that my ex would have been more open to acknowledging her disposition and eventually engaging in strategies to help manage it. I, unfortunately, neglected to consider the fragility of her ego and the extents that she would go to in order to maintain it.

She projected her own toxicity onto others; constantly accusing the people who cared about her of disingenuously trying to take advantage. She made a routine of poisoning her relationships, one transgression at a time, until they reached a threshold of toxicity and she would then disengage. Each of her relationships, whether it be with a coworker, friend, best friend, family member, me as her boyfriend, etc, was somewhere on the cycle of being slowly poisoned or on a cool down. Eventually it got so bad that the only two major relationships that she was focused on was her relationship with me and her relationship with her mother. I continued to urge her to seek professional help, for her own benefit and for the sake of our relationship, however; nothing that I said could ever penetrate.

I often felt like I was speaking a different language and the absolute inability to effectively communicate eventually wore me down. She was convinced that I was the literal embodiment of every wrong she had been done. Her projection of her own toxicity onto others allowed her to then displace onto them the stresses that her ego could not stand to bear. I spent a lot of time pondering the question of how someone whom was presumed to hate me so much would go to lengths to keep me around and it eventually started to really get to me. I began to hate myself for all of the trauma that I caused and, at that point, I had to get out. We lived together at the time and there was no immediate economical exit strategy. We seemed to have come to an agreement to keep things cool until the end of the month and we would both go separate ways.

Cliffs for the story time ahead: didn't happen.

I was awakened to her viciously mounting the bed and striking me in the face. She gave me a black eye. I hopped out of bed, naked, and found myself cornered against the wall as she continued to lunge at me, screaming and holding my phone in one of her hands. She alleged to have caught me cheating on her (I wasn't - the notification she is presumed to have seen was from my roommate who had forgotten his keys and was in an uber home), destroyed my phone, and then threw it at me as I attempted to cover up and get out of the house. She had me backing up through the living room, trying to get my underwear on, when she ducked into the kitchen. I ran out the door. Halfway down the street I heard the door open, turned to look back, and saw her coming with a knife. Ran all through the neighborhood and lay low while she threw all of my things out of the window.

Someone evidently called the police and they took statements from the both of us. She said that it was just a disagreement that never got physical; I provided my battered face, shattered phone, and sidewalk full of belongings as proof of battery and destruction of property. The cops concluded that, since they weren't witness to the battery, the destruction of my phone, or the depositing of my belongings on the sidewalk, and because our stories were in disagreement, that nothing warranted their actual involvement. They did, however; order me to surrender my key to the house. I complied and left to find a parking lot to sleep in before returning the next day, with police, to recover the rest of my things. She had conveniently tossed everything, including my refrigerator and two car seats, into a neat pile in the backyard, on top of my scooter. Police didn't seem to find any issue with that, nor would they allow me into the house to retrieve any of the specific items that I had not found in the pile. Cut my losses and took off.

At the time I was working at a local high school and she knew that the coming Monday was the first day back from spring break. She and her brother drove onto the school grounds, broke into my truck, and she smeared her literal feces all over the inside of my vehicle and then posted about it on instagram. The school resource officer was mandated to report the crime as it occurred on school grounds, during school hours, and involved a school employee (me). At that point I felt it necessary to get a restraining order. The judge granted an immediate order of protection on my word alone, and the next judge saw fit to extend the order for the year after hearing both hers and my accounts. The last I saw of her was at that hearing. I never wish to see her or hear from her or her family ever again. Both her and her brother are on court ordered pretrial probation as a result of two felony counts, each, for the incident with the truck.

Stay safe.
Isn't is ironic how much law enforcement enables these people?

During the months leading up to and through my divorce I had a bunch of experiences like that with my ex. I have about 7 police reports for various incidents involving her craziness. The best one though....she smashed all the windows in my car one night because I wouldn't let her into the house. She had been at some other guy's house and drove home drunk. I had our daughter in the house with me, so I locked the doors. The cops show up and proceed to do absolutely nothing because they didn't see her actually driving. Then they force me to let her into the house. Then when I get up the next morning and proceed to start cleaning up all of the broken glass (she broke all 8 windows in my car), she told our daughter right in front of me that "daddy must have really pissed somebody off, but I didn't do that". At that time I decided to call the police back over to report a break in and vandalism. She then goes in the house and hits herself with a glass to cause a cut on her head (not huge, but visible). Then before the cops show up she comes down to the garage and says to me "why do you keep hitting me?" I look up and see the wound and immediately walk over to the neighbors front yard where he was outside doing yard work. I told him what was going on, he knew about her instability, and he said he would back me up that he saw me cleaning up the glass the entire time. Cops show up and ALMOST cuffed me immediately, but finally used some judgement to see she was trying to burn me. He pressures her into admitting that she broke all the windows and that I never touched her. Then after all of that, the cop still tells me I need to leave and go to a relative's house for the night. He forced me to leave my daughter with this crazy woman the whole day and night.

How stupid is this world we live in?

At least I had the police report on record showing that she tried to falsely accuse me of domestic violence and destroying marital property for no reason.

Vent as much as you'd like, but this person sounds like someone you need to run, not walk away from. I know this sounds cheesy but you really do deserve to be happy and safe, and I hope you are working to take steps to get there.

My experience, the girl was never clinically diagnosed but it messed me up real bad after I finally grew the balls to end it. Had to get cognitive behavioral therapy to help with a lot of the drama she caused. My therapist said everything I told him suggested that she has BPD.

Long story short, I was 19 and she was 29. Was my first longer relationship (14 months) so I thought everything she did was part of a normal relationship. The lies, the manipulation, it was complete hell. But she really made it seem this is how a normal relationship is; I was living at her apartment as well. The only saving grace was the cardio.

I wasn't able to have any female friends, let alone talk to females. However, she would go hang out with exes - smoking joints, drinks, random hangouts. Pretty sure she cheated on me but never got confirmation, it all adds up though. As I said, I couldn't even speak to females. We were at a Shoppers Drug Mart and I went to go buy my stuff, got it bagged up and we exited the door. As soon as we got outside she started screaming at me "how could you be cheating on me!! after everything I've done for you and now you are f'ing this sloot behind my back!?" I had no idea what she was talking about, and after a few hours of her screaming and belittling me, she eventually said she knows the cashier and I have something going on. There were about 3 tills open and the other 2 had long lines so I went to the one without a line up to pay for my stuff, which had a female cashier...and you get the idea.

Literally everything was an argument. Anytime we went out, I was supposedly checking out any female that walked passed. It got to a point where it was so bad I would just look down the whole time as to not accidentally look at someone that could cause an argument.

We used to get into screaming matches, and I would go for a walk right after to clear my head. She ended up wanting to control that too and not let me go out for my usual walk. So one night she started screaming at me while standing in front of the door and kicking/punching at me. She backed me up into a corner then grabbed a knife and told me I'm not going anywhere. This fight freaked me out quite a bit and was the beginning of the end.

She used to end up calling my family members and screaming and yelling while complaining about me. She made multiple family members cry and that's when I said enough is enough. I finally grew some balls and ended it. My friend saw I was pretty messed up and depressed, so we went to Dominican so I could clear my head. She started threatening me and said if I did anything while I was away there would be consequences. Brushed it off and went away. Wasn't in the mind set to hook up because I was still pretty messed up from it. Just enjoyed my time away. She kept trying to call me then, then began FB msging me a million times, then began msging my buddy when I wasn't responding. As soon as I returned, she found the resort I went to and immediately booked a ticket so she could go there and ask all the hotel workers if they saw me with any girls. Halfway through her trip, she called me on her cell phone while I was back home absolutely balling and saying how it was a mistake she went there and she's so lonely.

She got back and I blocked her on absolutely everything. I was pretty heavily involved in martial arts at the time, and she called pretty much every surrounding gym talking sh* about me and making stuff up. She would tell people that I was saying a lot of real bad things about their gyms, being racist, etc etc but thank god she was well known by many and had dated other martial artists and this was a common thing for her.

Messed me up for quite some time and I had thought a lot of the controlling subjects was a normal part of a relationship so I employed that in new relationships and obviously messed every single one up. That's when therapy became an option as quoted above.

Looking back I wish I had the balls to end things a lot sooner before I had been mentally messed up so bad. But in my defense I was still pretty young and dating an older person who "seemed" to have their sh*t together.

On the positive I can pick out a crazy girl almost immediately now and end things before it gets bad. Also helped build a pretty good back bone not to deal with anything like that again.

edit: oops, that was longer than I meant

Bipolar is an actual "chemical imbalance". While BPD is not well understood, but it's considered a behavioral disorder. It's purely a pattern of thought processes that are very difficult to break down and solve because the thought processes are self-sustaining and structured in a way to defend a toxic inner world.

Ex. BPD cases are often terrified and enraged about being abandoned, and so engage in extreme paranoid and controlling behavior that causes them to be abandoned, thereby proving their point that they should be terrified about being abandoned and enraged when they are abandoned. The people I've encountered in the past who were like this often had root stories of abandonment that supposedly explained why they were this way, but the stories never really checked out.

Likewise with NPD, the narcissist believes that they are perfect and that this is general knowledge, therefore the rest of the world trying to tell them there's something wrong with them is proof only that the rest of the world is a deceitful enemy who deserves whatever they get. Dealing with that logic is super fun happy times for a therapist, who is always one wrong move away from being at the top of the enemies list.

This thread is hard to read. Sorry for what some of you guys have dealt with.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

BPDs dont EVER let you go if they see some value in you. Its going to be a pain in the ass, im going have to warn whoever i start dating next lol, srs.

Screaming, crying, blaming, anger, cheating, attention-whoring, manic episodes make up so many interactions. But on the other hand, the good interactions which become fewer and fewer until they want to win you over again, are so incredible. so sweet, so loving, incredible sex. and she was so beautiful. they convince you that you are their savior and their everything. but nothing you do can help them.

hadn't heard from my bipolar+bpd ex in months, was productive and finally happy, and she began bombarding me constantly through text, email, Venmo, calls begging for me to respond. "Coincidentally" when I decided to move to a new city. I broke after a week of this and ended up responding because she truly seemed to be manic and in pain and was sending money and nudes and hysterical. First I messaged to say stop, it's gonna be okay, then I began feeling bad for her and was nice to her. Of course she was relentlessly loving and sweet and it brought back all these feelings. Then I realized what I did and blocked her on her new channels of communicating with me. now I'm depressed as fuk again. it's crazy because it feels like you're torturing them by not taking them back, and it feels like you're torturing them when they have you again and decide to become cold and apathetic and lash out at you constantly. I regret dating her so much. but life goes on.

I know a dude like this. He was Highway Patrolman of the year in my state. Ded fukn srs. He proposed to 8 different women in the 3 or 4 years I knew him. He also had a German Shepard that he kept tied up on a 4 ft lead outside that was malnourished and infested with ticks. Dog looked like it should have been on a Sarah Mclachlan commercial. Last I heard about him the friend that introduced me to him ended up beating the ever loving chit outta him at a party because he wouldn't stop messaging his fiance and trying to arrange a hook up for DUI help for her which I thought was hilarious since that dude thought he was such a badass. Everybody knew he was a pussy but were scared he'd get them in trouble with the law if they beat him up or called him out about it. He ended up dating a female highway patrol officer and finally got arrested for beating her up and got kicked out. Hopefully that ******* ends up on the street

That I love her, in sickness and in health. If I didn’t than I wouldn’t.

I’ve almost lost my grip on my own sanity of plenty of times, I get it.

I feel a little more aware of her bull**** psychosis all of the time now. The lies. The constant "some sort of pain" they're in.

A big part of things is how you look at them. You need to separate the illness from the individual. You’re not going to cure them but you can learn to manage things when they happen. If you loved someone and they had cancer you wouldn’t decide to not love and care for them anymore when they have days where they are sick more than others, you’ve got to look at it the same way.
Regardless of the validity of said illness’s and pains, she’s still in a lot of pain and turmoil, don’t get hung up on the specifics.

Can't plan with them because heaven forbid you try to change the plan.

Totally, or they can’t handle whatever the plan is once the time comes, or meltdowns leading up to said plans.
You strategize what info. to give when and you do your best. I make sure that I don’t have set expectations because if I do I’ll end up disappointed, frustrated, mad, etc., so I keep myself open for change at any time and be ready to adapt.

The worst is when she is blaming or accusing me of things shes actively doing

This is where you need to sperate the illness from the individual. I get caught in this one a lot, we’ll start fighting about something and I’ll start losing my sht and start saying things like, “wtf are you even talking about, that doesn’t make any sen….”, then I clue in that logic isn’t in play here. I remove myself so I can calm down and not be pssed off and then re-approach with the intention of helping and providing her an out instead of proving who’s right or wrong, etc.

she medicated?

Very. I make sure I’m in the know of what’s going with medications at all times and that she’s taking them, especially when she’s in the midst of an episode (for lack of a better term), to make sure she keeps taking them because if she stops it will take longer to recover. Self-care goes down the tube when this is happening so if I don’t make sure she’s taking them she won’t.

im just venting I don’t think I’ll last much longer in this relationship

If your not feeling like this is someone you love and you’ll do anything for, then yeah man, get out and live your life. But if you do than there you go.

Vent where you can. I hold things to myself as I don’t want to leave myself open to criticism and such, here being somewhat anonymous though I guess I’m willing to share more than I would normally

Good luck bruh.

I believe it. The proposal thing is crazy, this guy did the same thing, maybe four engagements within 5 years or something? They always try to involve other people in the drama too, or set them up in some way. God forbid their victims be able to move on with their lives, it's always about getting even.

But to be honest, and I'm cautious to sound like I'm victim blaming, anyone who gets involved with these people needs to do some serious reflection. Even if they didn't show they were psychotic in the beginning, you knew the love bombing was manipulation or at best moving inappropriately quickly.

it's really my own fault, it came from within my own flaws. I always focus on hot, fashionable girls and am deep down a sucker for girls that need to be taken care of. I guess it used to fulfill my ego and also give me purpose, and I've always been a people-pleaser since growing up my parents were not the best and quite cold. I've gone to therapy since, and have been working through it. but that's what it comes down to a lot of the time, realizing you're the reason you're still stuck with this psycho chick and then breaking through your thought patterns and weaknesses and growing strong enough to leave and not chase those things in the future. but it definitely left me with some sadness in my heart and a quite a knock on my confidence and ability to trust others.

Good for you man, this is a lot of self-awareness. People who get into relationships with BPDs need to take a hard and long look at themselves. Hope nothing but the best for you.

thanks bro means a lot, all the best to you too. Hope any bruhs in this same situation find the strength to seek therapy and eventually leave an unhealthy situation. You can do it, just look past the love that's blinding you.
