One of the LGS here that charges $20 for transferper firearm(that sucks, e.g. I bought a few lowers at one go from primary arms) also sells Aero M4E1 stripped lowers for $95.
Next time I buy a firearm and have it shipped to said LGS, I am going to try to talk them into doing the transfer fee for free if I buy one of those M4E1 lowers and just include it on the same 4473 form. IMO that's fair and if they go for it, the way I look at it, I get that M4E1 lower for like $80 (after tax).

Personally I never really understood the appeal of a pinned 14.5". You're only saving about an inch over a 16" and giving up the ability to change muzzle devices. Maybe not a huge deal - I've never changed mine in the years I've had it, but if I ever get a suppressor I might want to. It just doesn't seem like you're getting enough in return for giving up the ability to change things down the line.

Nobody says a 16" barrel has to have a 15" rail lol (not one of mine does, longest I have is a 13" rail on a 16"...)

Seems like a big if to me.

Has anyone here ever had a problem out of cheap lowers? I'm trying to figure out if there is a good reason to spend more on something like the BCM vs an aero or poverty pony. The only thing I can think of is for lefty shooters for the ambi controls. I've never heard of anyone having any fit issues but I could be wrong
I'm not talking about the parts kit just the stripped receiver itself

My go-to LGS does $20 per 4473. The old owner was a boomer fudd and charged $50 per transfer and sold things way above MSRP. His philosophy was to sell at higher margin, lower volume and if people aren't buying firearms from his store then he will make enough money from the transfers. His philosophy caused his business to close. I know his prices from his distributor so he could've easily pushed more product at a lower margin. The new owner basically did the complete opposite from the boomer fudd and it's been the top LGS in the area for a couple years
Did they not teach economics to these boomers in school?

Having lived in the Kansas City metro most all of my life until the last handful of years, and then living in AZ and ID, I can confirm that the majority of people that ask where I'm from think of KS when I mention coming from KC and not specifying a state. The pro sports teams have also basically been irrelevant up until recently outside a year here and there for essentially ever, so not surprising someone might not be up to par on knowing the stadiums for football and baseball are actually on the MO side. Plus no one likes MO anyway.

Would you rip on somebody for not knowing geography if they talk about New York City after, say, the New York Giants win? Or the New York Jets?
'cause, ya know, they both play in New Jersey
