Seems tedious to me and i pay around $600/mo.

The problem i have is that she is always asking for more on top of that.

Its pretty bad when both ppl make the same amount of money, have 50/50, and yet the guy always has to pay. (What a joke)

The one receiving the support is usually living beyond their means and not really providing support with the money.

The CRA and their money comes from the revenues they help generate. Auditing child support payments generates no income, it would be an add cost for the government.

Also huge amounts of money goes uncollected by the government because they lack the resources to properly chase people and collect taxes.

So this idea would raise the tax burden across the board.

Then if the audits come back with frivolous spending what’s to be done? Cut off the child support. Great idea, let’s punish the kid for the parents (perceived) negligence.

Sorry, but this is an ill conceived idea that was thought up as way to enable deadbeats to dead beat.

From what I've been told rent/ mortgage payments count as proper spending of child support. So does utilities, food, etc.

I'm a step parent raised my two girls from the ages of 3 and 5. Their bio dad is a piece of crap and paid child support and put up the same argument. He would have weekends with them and drop them off at his moms and go to the bar but gripe about paying for child support. Child support doesn't begin to cover all the expenses. I can't tell you how much money ive spent over the years but it's alot and not that i care. but fuk these dead beats

Once the kid is like 16 the money should go into an account for them or something.

Also I really dont think a parent should pay child support unless they get half custody unless the parent is proven to be a danger to the child.

Imagine how the dynamics would change if each parent had to pay child support to the other parent during the periods the child was with the other parent.

Child support is literally just separating fathers from their kid but keeping the financial support. Think of how diabolical that is while also considering this:

My point is that the Government puts money into the CRA cause they generate revenue. They are a net financial positive. This silly receipt auditing idea would be a drain on the government.

And the entire purpose is not for the benefit of the kid, it’s for benefit of the dead beat.

Pretty sure this is just bollocks

Here earning 40k and supporting 1 child the princely sum of £78 per week

https://child-maintenance.dwp.gov.uk/calculate/complete

People wouldn’t just lie on the internet would they?
A grown ass adult who supports themselves already has a place to live. The man isnt paying his ex fewer her entire fuking housing bill, only 50% of the difference of a one bedroom and two bedroom apartment.

Neither should the man pay for all her utilities. How much water and electricity does a 7 year old use? The man pays half the difference.

It is entirely doable.

Hes telling you that your tax dollars are being wasted handing out expensive steaks and lobster to people unwilling to work and your retort is to call him an idiot. And its not even all your tax dollars, its your childrens future dollars being taken as wells since the current year taxes dont cover the current year expenses and the government debt piles on to be paid in the future by your children.

But sure hes an idiot if that makes you feel better.

You guys make no sense. Lol my child support doesn't even cover 25% of the mortgage.

You want your kids in a good school then they are going to need to live in a good neighborhood.

If I don't count the roof I doubt my child support covers internet (necessary for school) electricity, water, gas, sanitation.

Not to mention food, clothes, insurance, phone, sports, transportation etc.

I think the problem here is that people who don't have kids assume the father just jacked on his kid and doesn't want to pay.

The reality for most is usually the female has decided to breakup the family. Now through no choice of his own, the father only gets to see his kid at the weekend.

I will happily pay to raise my child. However, I don't want to pay for the mother's bad spending habits ontop of that.
It is the same in the US except the rates are not set. That is atleast good the UK lets you know ahead of time how fuked you will be if you get some sloot knocked up. In the US it is a subjective amount determined by some man hating feminist judge and entirely dependent on how much they feel they hate men on your day in court.

What’s the consequence if it’s determined that the receiver of the child support can’t account for 100% of the money? Will the same amount of money be handed over but a coach will be provided for show how to properly spend money on a child? Is that your idea? No, your idea is that the child support payment would be slashed.

The entire purpose of the silly idea is to give a channel for people (men) to pay less child support.

The child support should go into a separate escrow account, similar to a checking account with a debit card. All payments come out and solely go towards the child. The person paying child support has full view of the debits being made and full right to review receipts at any time to see where their money is going. If they feel the money is being abused, then they have the right to petition the court to have their support payments reduced since obviously they are overpaying and the money is going elsewhere.

When the child turns 18, they get the remaining balance back. If they want to give it to the kid for college, that is an option but they have no legal obligation to do so.

Guess you didn't learn your lesson the first time around. Once you pay your child support you are not obligated to do more, right? I know you love your kid but to make a point with your 2nd ex-wife, stand your ground and don't give more than what is needed. Maybe this will get her to be more responsible with the monies.

It should be made tedious. It should be setup to be fair and balanced, not convenient for a freeloader to misuse the funds on themselves. Maybe if it was a pain in the ass to track your expenses and not the financial windfall it is today, it would provide incentive to work things out and not take off and leave with someone's children.

This explains a lot and why your perception is skewed. You lucked out in that youre broke and your ex makes 3x as much. Normally the man is more successful than his woman and gets absolutely ass raped by the feminist judges in court.

Proof of where the money is going. You should get no more than 50% of the cost of an additional bedroom towards the mortgage. And technically your ex should be getting equity in your house since he is paying towards your equity, so you are getting a house paid off from your ex with no benefit to him.

I have zero problem with the concept of child support.

Where I wish Snails and folks like her would focus is child support enforcement reform. I think there is too little leeway on each side of the enforcement issue.

Wrong. One of the conditions of our divorce was he completely detaches from the house so he is freed from the mortgage and it comes off his credit. It's solely mine now.

It was also tongue in cheek. The whole of his child support doesn't go to the mortgage.

You dont understand equity.

He was freed from the mortgage but you are getting free money from him every month to put towards the mortgage. He maybe be off the mortgage and the house was determined yours in the divorce but he is still paying towards the equity. You will look it over since its an obvious benefit to yourself. He is paying into equity for the house while you get that equity.

This is solely supposed to be to the benefit to the child.

I would favor this only if they started executing parents that don't pay. Not to mention 90% of people don't pay enough for the custodial parent to splurge on stupid ****. Be responsible and choose women carefully.

Why would she pay me? I can't take care of them as well as she can. I travel for work sometimes gone for a month at a time.

Even if she paid me it would be hard for the three of us( now two of us to live and they would have gone to a much worse school.

When you get divorced you aren't supposed to want your children's lifestyles to go backwards just because you want your ex punished.

I think most of you are warped. You want your kids moving into a dump of an apartment after all they've known their whole life is a decent house in a decent neighborhood?

Yes! My sister gets child support so she can spend it going to gym and buying her cosmetics while my mom had to retire from work to take care of her kid for free. Pathetic.
