So overbought the last couple years and the buybacks too, was a tinderbox waiting for a spark, coronavirus was it, also all top companies put all their eggs in one basket depending on China for profits...glad I’ve been in cash and bonds before the ****storm

Guys.....I know many of you have traded for a while and are not novices. I myself have been trading since I was a kid, worked on the CBOE, and trade for my living.
I never knew there were so many people on the misc who trade. I think I have seen 7 to 8 threads today alone about the market.
So....all that being said, one thing I have learned in any bull market, whether it be gold, oil, stocks, crypto, etc....is when you see SO MANY people investing? In this case in stocks? That is normally a sign that things are about to go very very bad. People that have no business trading or investing see the market reaching new highs every week and think to themselves "hmmmm, I think it is time to put money in". 9 times out of ten while the novices are doing that? The pros are selling.
This is no direct retort to any of you specifically. All I am saying is be very very careful. Most of you have never been in a bear market. I am not saying we are entering one here, but the money has been very very easy the past 2-3 years....a bigtime correction will be coming sooner or later.

Still like the upside though, especially if it reaches 20-25%.
Also agree with above, be psychologically prepared for a 50% correction. For every trade there’s risk.

Just curious as I just added 20K to my money market account and I've been sitting on that cash.

dont know.. but the media is pushing the whole panic campaign contributing to it.
The total cases are going down in china and some of their stores are reopening.
my stock went down 3 more % earlier but then recovered 2 back. It cant go on forever and will only get better.
its funny how my first experience with this stuff is right when this "virus" hit. bad timing. Just the kind of luck that Nicklol has..lmfao

- the US is in a 12 year bull market, exceptionally long time
- volatility is low indicating a lot of complacency from market participants
- cyclically adjusted price/earnings ratio (CAPE) is above 30...only other times it has been >30 is before the 1929 great depression and the 2008 GFC
There is a lot of risk for not much reward in the US right now IMO.
I get the feeling a lot of the price increase has been driven by central banks, any time bad news comes out the markets go up in anticipation of an interest rate cut. I don't think this is sustainable in the long term, it just adds to the risk of a big market sell off...probably worse than the GFC. Meb Faber explained it well on a podcast I was listening to the other day and used the analogy of workers at ski resorts setting off fireworks to create mini-avalanches, thereby decreasing the risk of a big avalanche later on.
Central banks have not allowed market corrections to happen, which has the effect of:
- erasing the business cycle and allowing poor quality companies to continue to attract capital and remain solvent
- artificially reducing volatility, creating a false sense of security among newer market participants.
- allowing the risk of a massive sell off to build up in the market
Some of you US brahs who have been investing for a while would have done very well out of the last few years, might be time to take a bit of money off the table.

It'll dip further.
Italy is completely incapable of containing virus (they just have no clue/organisation/control/discipline) & will spread it to Europe throough open borders. So Europe will get a little virus outbreak & lose some confidence. Market will drop.
USA is just getting it's first "bloom" of cases. I am not convinced the response has been well co-ordinated enough & the tracking/detection/treatment methods are not as sophisticated as some other nations (sorry USA brahs, but your borders & healthcare is actually among the lower tier of OECD nations). So you'll get a little drop there too.
I don't think the virus itself is world changing. But markets are massively emotionally driven. Crazy in this day & age but we see it time & time again. It will dip further on the drop in confidence + genuine shrinking in world trade due to China's extended cut off. USA might be doing ok but in a globalised economy, if China sneezes, errybody else gets a cold.
Wait a month at least.

Lots of fear right now
I would honestly expect a slight down market tomorrow with a huge plunge late into the afternoon. Like a 1500-2000 point plunge. Nobody wants to be holding the bag if this virus blows up over the weekend.

Keep this in mind with the fear of the coronavirus and the market changes right now
Seasonal flu kills 291,000 to 646,000 people worldwide each year.
The fear of this is fueled by the MEDIA.....the largest terrorist organization on the planet, they inflict panic and fear in the people with their reporting on a daily basis.

All my investments are for long term growth so the downturn doesn’t bother me but it is very difficult not to dump money with this drop. I won’t lie because I did buy yesterday but that’s because I am weak lol
I do realize this will last a little bit so I am not concerned about buying the ‘bottom’ I have some money to throw in but I may just continue my normal weekly additions and stay away from buying more.
I get an addictive personality and can empty out all cash funds into the market very quickly if I don’t stop myself.
