I wonder if there are any studies that show what a face covering of any kind does to the number of times you touch your mouth and nose? Maybe there is even carry over to how many times you touch your eyes? Or is that too much speculation for the information thread?

I think I'll trust them on this one. After all, it's what they're telling healthcare personnel to wear when dealing directly with patients infected with the virus, so they're clearly effective.
How dare you!

WOW. I just found out that the germ-x 2 liter bottle (hand soap without need for water) I've been using at home expired in December 2016. 3 YEARS AGO.
I pulled out the one I bought a few weeks ago and it has tons of what looks like bubbles in it. The expired one has no bubbles.
Fortunately before I ate anything I washed my hands, but when I was doing chores around the house and just touching stuff, I've been using the expired germ-x. Hopefully it still disinfected..
Also is it true that this stuff only works for 2 minutes?

SARS-COV-2 virus global fatality rate: 3.4%
Influenza virus fatality rate: 0.1%
The SARS-COV-2 virus is 34 times more deadly than Influenza.
SARS-Cov from 2003 fatality rate: 9.6%
SARS-CoV from 2003 was 96 times more deadly than Influenza
Still no vaccine for SARS-CoV from 2003 (17 years). The 'vaccine' unfortunately caused respiratory failure in mice.
'S' Type SARS-CoV-2 (2019) = original type and less virulent and contagious and most common
'L' Type SARS-CoV-2 (2019) = mutated type and more virulent and contagious and less common
A man has recently tested positive in the United States for BOTH types of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Each mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus requires a NEW and DIFFERENT vaccine.
Most important part about Official Case numbers and Stats:
The cases you are seeing today happened 10 to 27 days ago (incubation period).
What is happening now, we will know in 28 days.

N95 Respirators vs Medical Masks Four RCTs compared protection from N95 and medical masks against different clinical or laboratory-confirmed outcomes [24–27]. Of these, 3 [24–26] specified rPPE use throughout the work shift. Compared to medical masks, N95 respirators conferred significant protection against self-reported CRI (RR = 0.47; 95% CI: 0.36–0.62) (Figure 3A), but evidence of superiority against ILI was limited (RR = 0.59; 95% CI: 0.271.28) (Figure 3B). Meta-analysis indicated statistically significant superiority of N95 respirators over medical masks against laboratory-confirmed upper respiratory tract bacterial colonization (BRI) (RR = 0.46; 95% CI: 0.34–0.62) (Figure 4A) but not laboratory-confirmed influenza (RR = 0.84; 95% CI: 0.36–1.99) (Figure 4B) or other viral infections (RR = 0.78; 95% CI: 0.54–1.14) (Figure 4C).
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
Eight case-control [29–36] (Table S4) and 4 cohort studies [2022, 37] (Table S5) assessed the effectiveness of rPPE in protecting HCWs from SARS infection (Appendix B, Table 2).With one exception [30], case-control studies consistently reported a protective effect of medical masks against SARS[31, 32, 34] (Appendix B, Table 2). Compared to “no rPPE” controls, N95 respirators conferred protection against confirmed SARSCoV infection in 2 of 3 case-control studies [32, 33]; no protective effect against SARS was reported for disposable [29, 34], cotton [35], or paper [32] masks (Appendix B, Table 2).

T his systematic review and meta-analysis quantified the protective effect of facemasks and respirators against respiratory infections among healthcare workers. Relevant articles were retrieved from Pubmed, EMBASE, and Web of Science. Meta-analyses were conducted to calculate pooled estimates.Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) indicated a protective effect of masks and respirators against clinical respiratory illness (CRI) (risk ratio [RR] = 0.59; 95% confidence interval [CI]:0.46–0.77) and influenza-like illness (ILI) (RR = 0.34; 95% CI:0.14–0.82). Compared to masks, N95 respirators conferred superior protection against CRI (RR = 0.47; 95% CI: 0.36–0.62) and laboratory-confirmed bacterial (RR = 0.46; 95% CI: 0.34–0.62), but not viral infections or ILI. Meta-analysis of observational studies provided evidence of a protective effect of masks (OR = 0.13; 95% CI: 0.03–0.62) and respirators (OR = 0.12; 95% CI: 0.06–0.26) against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). This systematic review and meta-analysis supports the use of respiratory protection. However, the existing evidence is sparse and findings are inconsistent within and across studies. Multicentre RCTs with standardized protocols conducted outside epidemic periods would help to clarify the circumstances under which the use of masks or respirators is most warranted.

The person that caught it in Washington and came back had a lot of interaction with the public after he got back, including going to church and out to eat, and little to nothing is being done

My reading of the NY statute is that before they'll issue a legal quarantine order - which is a criminal offense to violate - you first must be subject to a complaint that you are behaving in a way that endangers others. In other words, you have to first be told you're sick and to stay home, then someone who knows you're sick has to notify the health authorities that you aren't isolating and they must investigate like a barking dog complaint.
This gonna be good.

Abstract
The emergence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)-CoV underscores the threat of cross-species transmission events leading to outbreaks in humans. In this study, we examine the disease potential for SARSlike CoVs currently circulating in Chinese horseshoe bat populations.Utilizing the SARS-CoV infectious clone, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse adapted SARS-CoV backbone. The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild type backbone can efficiently utilize multiple ACE2 receptor orthologs, replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells, and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.Additionally, in vivo experiments demonstrate replication of the chimeric virus in mouse lung with notable pathogenesis. Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from CoVs utilizing the novel spike protein. Importantly, based on these findings, we synthetically rederived...

This paper though is highly relevant. Nice find.
It also states the Ebola vaccine is not effective. Which makes sense, we got that info from China a month ago. However remdisivir an AIDS treatment has been working.
Here is the spike protein they refer to that certain treatments cannot inhibit and prevent binding to ACE2

Binding of the viral S protein S1 domain to Vero-E6 cells, a monkey kidney cell line known to permit SARS-CoV replication, is blocked by a soluble form of ACE-2.1,7 In addition, SARS-CoV-mediated infection and cytopathicity are inhibited in Vero-E6 cells by antibodies directed toward ACE-2.7

Here's another study saying masks help prevent infection.
The OP still lists masks as not helpful at the end.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440799/
We can all now ignore Jerome Adams, our inexperienced, unqualified, appointed US Surgeon General from Indiana and anybody else (CDC) proposing the myth that masks don't help.
I understand healthcare workers need them, but don't lie to the public.
The OP still lists masks as not helpful at the end.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440799/
Principal Findings
All types of masks reduced aerosol exposure, relatively stable over time, unaffected by duration of wear or type of activity, but with a high degree of individual variation. Personal respirators were more efficient than surgical masks, which were more efficient than home-made masks. Regardless of mask type, children were less well protected. Outward protection (mask wearing by a mechanical head) was less effective than inward protection (mask wearing by healthy volunteers).
Conclusions/Significance
Any type of general mask use is likely to decrease viral exposure and infection risk on a population level, in spite of imperfect fit and imperfect adherence, personal respirators providing most protection. Masks worn by patients may not offer as great a degree of protection against aerosol transmission.

We can all now ignore Jerome Adams, our inexperienced, unqualified, appointed US Surgeon General from Indiana and anybody else (CDC) proposing the myth that masks don't help.
I understand healthcare workers need them, but don't lie to the public.

Last Paragraph:
The East Asian populations have much higher AFs in the eQTL variants associated with higher ACE2 expression in tissues (Fig. 1c), which may suggest different susceptibility or response to 2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2 from different populations under the similar conditions.
