- Wife and I go to dinner with friends

- Friend says he was quarantined this week because a coworker was exposed to coronavirus

- Coworker had fever 101.9, CDC tested him for flu, flu positive

- CDC did not test for Covid19 after positive flu test, CDC removes quarantine

- CDC gives our friend and all coworkers Tamiflu let's everybody go home

-Friend tells me all of this AFTER dinner, which was home based buffet style salads

If me, my wife, or our friends get the virus I will post the full details. I learned a lot about the CDC procedures (they wouldn't let him tell his wife he was quarantined).

Did I mention....These are people who dealt with the quarantined patients at Lackland in San Antonio.

I don't want to give out any personal information unless we actually catch it.

A home gym setup makes too much since right now. Wouldn't be shocked if some gyms close temporary soon due to panic.

Not all that worried about catching anything right now, but having to use gloves and disinfect everything would be a pain.

Supermarkets ain't going empty. They may run low on certain items, but we won't need to scavenge for food. Medicine is the thing to keep an eye on.

He couldn't tell his wife the day he was quarantined. He could only tell her after they lifted the quarantine. Which was a few days ago.

I don't want to say his job, which would explain a lot to you but also give away who he is. If I get it, you'll see me on the news.

He is not a jackass, he firmly believes his coworker has the flu, but his coworker was with COVID19 patients for 2 weeks straight at Lackland. Then roughly a week later gets 101.9 fever.

I thought you could tell your spouse anything and not be asked to testify against them?

"Federal Law on Spousal Privilege

Federal (and many state) courts recognize two types of spousal privilege:

Spousal testimonial privilege, barring testimony against a spouse in a criminal trial, and
Marital communications privilege, barring testimony about confidential communications between spouses.
"

so if he told his wife, then they wanted to charge him with anything, she can just deny it?

I would be livid if someone did that to me, especially a friend. Dude should not be out having dinner with anyone. Would knock a bro out if he knowingly put me and my family in jeopardy of catching COVID-19.

Folks at work here are still planning going away dinners for coworkers even with infected cases happening in and near our city. **** it, I'm staying my ass home.

There are deaths in my city from it. Im still going to the gym, not licking the bench or my hands. These brahs buying home gyms etc are still going to go outside, unless people are disinfecring their clothes or have a decontamination chamber that virus will get inside. It can live on surfaces which easily include skin, clothing, hair, shoes. Enjoy decontaminating EVERYthing every time you return home.

I actually do decontaminate wverything. Phone, keys, wallet. I leave my shoes/socks at the entrance along with my coat. I throw away my nitrile gloves. My pants and shirt go in the hamper.

Theres no doubt my floor and coat may have the virus, and that the top of my hamper may have it, but I wash my hands 20+ times a day and think about every single thing i’ve touched before putting my hand on my face. I disinfect my doors or kitchen cabinet handles if I suspect I’ve spread germs on there. I live alone and Im self quarantined and go out once a day during non peak hours if I need to, in my car.

I even consider all the food i’ve recently bought to have their containers contaminated so I take that into account as well.

I doubt I will get the virus. Only way is if I forget to decontaminate something and then touch my face. Theres no way I’m going to get it from a person coughing on me.

I've seen kids pick up packaging/ tissues from the ground and put them straight in their mouths. And this is out in the park/ playground LMAO.

There's no way to stop kids doing dirty things and getting scratched up.

You should always check your kids for bite marks if you suspect wild animals though. Be on the guard for rabies. Just LOL at Covid-19

Fr though, I've been rotting for about half a year in large part because of my circumstances and was just now going to start living life better again, going to the gym, going out on the weekends, etc.

Seems like I got the order wrong. Shoulda designated my rotting time differently. Canada crew btw. We're not doing that bad it seems.

Typical weak-minded excuse. "I was going to get my life in order, but global pandemic! Otherwise, I would've been a legend."

Do you think our ancestors let the Spanish Flu stop them?

Well, yes, OK, but still.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Strong this.

Testing won’t do much of sh!t. There are still plenty of idiots who will think they have it yet still go to malls, ride the subway, go to conferences, etc. Just assume that whatever public setting you’re in there’s someone who has it in there with you.

I'm temporarily closing this thread to catch back up on the ~5 pages I missed. I originally intended this thread to be news and updates regarding the virus, legitimate scientific information on how you can potentially stave off an outbreak and not misinformation, fear mongering, panic, etc. I come look at the top post at the top of page 10 and see people with suggestions on stocking up on guns and ammo - that isexactly what I wanted NOT to see in this thread.

So, if you find your post in here has been deleted, that is the reason why.

I wonder if there are any studies that show what a face covering of any kind does to the number of times you touch your mouth and nose? Maybe there is even carry over to how many times you touch your eyes? Or is that too much speculation for the information thread?
I'm seeing a lot of vendors on Amazon sell obvious dust masks as "N95" so can show me an actual picture or link to where these are sold and that they are certified as N95 and not just some BS scammers trying to get people to buy these masks out of fear?

I think I'll trust them on this one. After all, it's what they're telling healthcare personnel to wear when dealing directly with patients infected with the virus, so they're clearly effective.
So you're planning on wearing this getting through your entire working day? This picture is obviously meant for healthcare workers.

Fortunately before I ate anything I washed my hands, but when I was doing chores around the house and just touching stuff, I've been using the expired germ-x. Hopefully it still disinfected..

Also is it true that this stuff only works for 2 minutes?
Alcohol pretty much lasts forever, so you're good in that regard. And yes, the Germ-X and related products only kill what's on your hands then evaporates, leaving your hands susceptible to more germs. Best way is to wash your hands with water and soap as that keeps your hands more impervious to germs for a longer period.

I don't have a source on how long the alcohol based anti-viral handwashes work, but if anyone wants I can't try and dig it up/

SARS-CoV from 2003 was 96 times more deadly than Influenza
Still no vaccine for SARS-CoV from 2003 (17 years). The 'vaccine' unfortunately caused respiratory failure in mice.

'S' Type SARS-CoV-2 (2019) = original type and less virulent and contagious and most common
'L' Type SARS-CoV-2 (2019) = mutated type and more virulent and contagious and less common

A man has recently tested positive in the United States for BOTH types of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Each mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus requires a NEW and DIFFERENT vaccine.

Most important part about Official Case numbers and Stats:

The cases you are seeing today happened 10 to 27 days ago (incubation period).

What is happening now, we will know in 28 days.
Do you have a source for this?

That was decided by some posters from that thread. They asked the old thread be closed and stickied and a new one created, so that's what I've done. I wanted to leave this thread devoted to science, medicine, news and info updates and that's it. The other thread is you can post whatever you want.

Pls go to the conspiracy thread. This is information coming from scientists so far out of your pay grade it would make your head spin. I really fault the MSM for spreading thisFUD. 40k people a month die of the flu and the coronavirus hasn't even scratched the surface that long. The government is doing all it can (with the exception of a certain orange faced leader) to try and stop the spread of this virus and create a vaccine as promptly as possible.

All this reminds me the South Park Episode "Red Man's Greed". Which is about the residents of SP getting the SARS virus an lamenting they only have a (98%) survival rate until Stan goes on a "spirit quest" and discovers the cure for SARS is Campbell's chicken noodle soup, Sprite and Nyquil. You can only watch the episode on Hulu, or go download if you want to check it out.

So far, there is no information to suggest this virus can be transmitted via mosquito.
Although 2019-nCoV likely came from an animal, it now appears to be spreading person-to-person.There is no evidence whatsoever that any coronavirus is spread by mosquito bite. But what, exactly, is ‘person-to-person’ transmission? This occurs mainly via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to how influenza and common colds are spread. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or may even be inhaled into the lungs. Usually this happens within about 6 feet. Also, note that some viruses are highly contagious (such as measles) while others are less so. We still have much to learn about just how contagious 2019-nCoV is as well as many other aspects of its epidemiology.
