Historical night- Market is crashing tonight

Futures are limit down at 5% down, 10 year bond yields are down 30%, oil is down 30%.

This is not good boyos, stop freaking about the stupid virus, take your precautions but wtf man. Never seen bonds go crazy like this. If this chit goes on, employment is going to take a huge hit.

https://m.investing.com/rates-bonds/...ear-bond-yield

https://m.investing.com/commodities/crude-oil

Mortgages are going to be a lot cheaper , problem is if the economy goes to chit, lots of home prices are crashing too.

Yeah the circuit breakers kicked in to keep the futures from dropping any further.

Tomorrow will be interesting.

Oil and 10 year bond yield moves are unreal, I dont think I ever saw both 30% down on the same night.

30 year bond yield is under 1% , has never happened.

For those that dont understand, the yields on bonds are predicting future gdp growth, and right now they are predicting recessions.

Do not promote panic selling of stocks.

This is how property tycoons were born. Taking advantage of fear to accumulate property lots, which they turned into malls and apartments.

They just want to purchase at a discount and people who fear will let them. Anyways, it's good that most of the stocks are held by institutional investors...

If you are looking at data, you are already late. The recession started in 2016 and pressure down was ramping up about a year ago... we are now at this point with more downwards pressure to come. Don't sell if you don't need cash. Otherwise it will cost you more to jump back on the bandwagon later. If you invested post 2016, you will be in a world of hurt though.

This is by far the biggest blood bath I have ever seen pre market open. And that includes the killings the market took in 2008 and after 9.11.

Haha yup.

I stayed 99% cash going into the close Fri. I didn't want to take a chance.

Thing is normally after the huge red open tomorrow I would say it is a good chance to buy. But in this case, I have a feeling that the virus is going to go pandemic here soon. And I am a person who thinks the MSM has been overblowing this.

But something about this has me concerned since yesterday.

Doesn't feel right.

So if that is the case? How low can the market go?

Looks like major support around the 21 K area.

Where am I promoting panic sell? I said its crazy people are in panic because of the stupid virus.

Having said that, can you guarantee that spx currently at 2818 wont test the dec 2018 low of 2350?

If you are younger than 60, you have very little to be scared off, yes you might die from it but you have almost the same chance from regular flu, so yes the media are blowing it out of proportion.

In 2008 stock market had similar moves like 6% down days. But i agree with you regarding bonds and oil.

E-mini futures on the S&P 500 Index sank 5% to 2,819 as of 8:05 p.m. in New York. After briefly rallying, they slipped back to the limit-down level and held there about two hours later. The curb means the contract can’t trade at a lower price for the remainder of the overnight session, although transactions at or above the threshold are allowed.

It can't go any other way right now. COVID-19 isn't just panic, it's shutting down a lot of economic activity around the world. And whoever is overlevereged will get their legs swept...

The whole world is overleveraged.

The latest worldwide debt figures are not reassuring. In September, global debt of all varieties (government, business and consumer borrowing) totaled $253 trillion, up $9 trillion from the start of 2019. Government debt accounted for slightly more than a third of that ($3.5 trillion) and non-financial business debt represented slightly less of the gain ($3 trillion), with consumer debt contributing the remainder.

It is about cycles, where we are in it and timing.

If you bought in 2016 or more recently, you will be hurting for a while.

The stock market is a legal mechanism to steal wealth from idiots/10

Just look at what the Governments around the world are publishing about Covid-19 cases. They are speaking out their arses and have no idea.

And do you know how big the black market/ cash economy is? LOL if you think growth figures are accuate. You can feel the recession in the streets and by looking at companies pulling out of markets and quietly shrinking their workforce/ 10.

Get woke, man.

"Age 50"? What is this an inside joke? Troll job? Ignorance? If ignorance, anyone with join date after '19 can't change the age.

You said since 2016. COVID-19 has nothing to do with 4 years of supposed contraction.

What hard facts do you have to support your point? I'm asking in honesty, I've heard grumbling about gov't spending out pacing actual economy and am highly skeptical of numbers, but hell I prefer making up my mind on facts than "it's all bullchit anyway" like some old codger who is skeptical of anything for the sake of it.

My condolences to you for missing however many solid years of gains to hit this dip.

Unless you magically got out of the market at the right time to have the cash. I can actually believe it if you did. I almost pulled the trigger to bail at exactly the right moment but rode on.... Fuk me.

That's very true. But sadly no, never had any interest in being in the market in a major way besides government bonds in the past. But everyone acting like the sun won't rise tomorrow is making my nuts tighten in a good way.
