As far as covid-19, unlike the '08 crash dealing with financial & real estate markets, this one deals with supply lines, manufacturing, travel, etc. I believe this will blow over, and the powers that be will try to take steps to soften the fall. I don;t think actual business and factories will shutter their doors forever.
What people may want to stock up in their meds, especially if they need these meds to stay alive (diabetes, heart, bp, etc.) If supply gets really disruptive, this is the stuff you want to stock up on. Talk to your pharmacy and doctor to get early prescriptions if they can.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.

I have been nibbling into XOM on the way down. Not a ton and it looks ugly right now . . . but I'm holding this one loooong term and XOM/Oil is not going to stay this low forever. Eventually that's all gonna bounce way back.

Been putting money to work myself. Today is probably a good day to avoid all together.
What needs to happen is a few super famous people get it, it gets reported, everyone freaks out, then nothing happens because they got over it.

Today at Costco the only thing they didn't have was hand sanitizer, although TP and facial tissue were very low. One woman had like 20 kleenex boxes at checkout (a few package of 6 maybe) and another woman was like...where did you find those!?as she complained to the employee that she couldn't find any kleenex anywhere she was told it would be. People finding the one pallet of TP allll the way in the back corner of the store tucked away behind all the paper towels and water were like...oh yeah.

I have to go to Sam's for my usual Monday lunch run today. Will be curious to see how it looks. TP and Kleenex were basically totally gone on Sat.
I vastly overpaid for some hand sanitizer online last night (around $70 for a gallon when you include shipping and the pump), but at least I should have a backup supply in a week or so. We have some just from the normal stock and some that I bought a few weeks ago, but not enough to make me comfortable and I want to have a cushion. Using soap way more than hand sanitizer, because it's supposed to be better. But I like being able to have some in the car, at the gym, on the counter, etc.

What’s happening with Sons of Liberty? I heard people are going hard on them but for what?
And what’s this AR mag loading drama going on? Heard there’s two people fighting about 29 vs 30 rounds?

I will admit, under stress and timer, I've mis-loaded a 30rd mag before on a closed bolt, and it falls out. It's weird because I can easily lock a fully loaded mag, but when doing it quickly, I forget to really push in and do a pull check. Comes down to training I guess, but it happens.

We like to argue about trivial things because we don't know how to disagree and if the other person thinks they're right then it makes me wrong. Don't even get me started if it's a subjective matter, if I like vanilla but you hate it and I just let you get away with that then it will change my reality and vanilla will taste less good.

Here are things I do and more importantlywhy
I download every spare magazine. Usually -1 for pistol and -2 for rifle. I have seen many people, and have myself, done the above mentioned closed-action insertion that seemed good but wasn't. I believe I'm more likely to fubar the reload and not seat the mag all the way...than I am to do a 'tac reload' and then need literally every last round from that mag. I'm perfectly fine "only" having 14 or 16 rounds in my pistol reload or "only" having 28 rounds in my 5.56 reload.
I load pistols completely (aka, +1). There's no legitimate downside at all to this that I have ever been made aware of, so...take the more ammo in the gun without need to bring or execute a reload.
I keep long guns 'cruiser ready', that is, loaded magazine inserted, action closed, safety on, empty chamber. Why? Because I don't keep long guns on me or within arms reach forright nowuse the way I do with pistols. Long gun is usually in a quick access safe, on the passenger floorboard, in the back seat, in the trunk, etc. If I have time to go grab it, I likely have time to rack it as I am picking it up. I also don't have immediate positive control over it when it's not on my person, as I do for a carried pistol, so I want that extra layer of safety in case any other person gets their hands on it. If and when I carry a long gun in a sling on me, I rack one into the chamber as I sling up. I know manual safeties on a rifle are akin to a holster for a pistol, but I just don't trust a rifle bouncing around in the car etc with a loaded chamber (and I don't have fancy locking mounts for them in my cars or anything). Safeties can get caught on all kinds of stuff, as can triggers, and I want long guns kept the same way at all times for consistency (slung on me or in my hands for use is fully loaded, anywhere else where I have to pick it up to use it, chamber is empty)
I use my support hand thumb to drop the slide release/bolt release on a locked-back reload. It's faster and it's the most consistent across my firearms. I've never had a problem missing the slide release, and this is one that even if you do miss it, at least you know immediately, you don't keep going and only find out when you go to shoot even if that's 30 seconds later or whatever.
If the pistol "auto-forwards" when I slam the magazine in,I manually rack the slide. It's possible to hit it off center and bump it such that the slide comes forward without chambering a round. I've seen people do this and I have done it on the clock during a qualification as well. And you may not know it right away either...
I generally do not choose to or train to retain partial magazines. My 'tactical' reload sequence is: 1) Decide to reload, 2) Retrieve new magazine with support hand and bring it up towards the firearm, 3) at that time drop the old mag free and look down briefly as I immediately insert the new mag to minimize time the firearm has no inserted mag 4) let old mag hit the deck. If I'm behind cover or otherwise not moving I might pick the mag up and shove it in a pocket but probably not. Why? I'm more concerned with getting a new mag in the gun than anything else, and fumbling around with two mags in my hand at the same time to retain the old one is more complicated and increases the chances I fubar it and drop the new mag or just plain take too long, it's more steps it does take longer. The ammo in the spare mag will have to be enough. I choose to be fine "only" having the 14 or 16 or 28 or whatever it is that's in the reload.
What matters is you choose what you do based on an understanding of the pros and cons of the available choices and train consistently

Italy literally locking down the entire country. They're freaking the fuk out there. ~5% death rate is scary AF.
I guess they don't know what else to do. Locking the whole damn area down in China was basically the only reason why they were able to slow their infection rate over the last couple weeks.

Still train with full mags and have never had an issue before/after but I'd rather have one less round than risk a failed reload that you're unaware of until it's potentially too late.It has to do with Youtube's newest gun community celery, John Lovell (War Poet Society) claiming that he downloads to 29rds, and pressheck saying that it isn't necessary unless you are running some aftermarket floorplate that changes spring tension under load. John saying that on a closed bolt, he sees people all the time not locking the mag in the catch on a 30rd fully loaded mag.

Also do the exact same things as Farley for pretty much the exact same reasons, with the exception of tac reloads I retain the magazine just because range staff will chew me out if I don't. Ideally I'd drop that fuker though. I normally have plenty of magazines, the less fine motor skills I have to worry about in a high stress/combat situation the better. I also think drilling into people to ALWAYS retain magazines during combat reloads is stupid - at the range you see guys who don't shoot a lot who are drilled like this retain their completely empty magazines because they confuse a standard reload with a tac reload.

But here are things I do and more importantlywhyso you can understand where I'm coming from. I don't expect anybody else to do anything the same unless they individually decide to for their own reason(s).
I download every spare magazine. Usually -1 for spare pistol mags and -2 for spare rifle mags. Why? I have seen too many people, and have myself, done the above mentioned closed-action insertion that seemed good but wasn't. My analysis says it basically will never matter to me either way, let's be honest, but,if it does,I believe I'm more likely to fubar the reload and not seat the mag all the way...than I am to do a 'tac reload' and then need literally every last round from that mag. I'm perfectly fine "only" having 14 or 16 rounds in my pistol reload or "only" having 28 rounds in my 5.56 reload.
I load pistols completely, round in the chamber and completely loaded/topped off magazines (so, +1). Why? There's no reason not to. They get loaded ahead of time and then kept in a holster. There's no legitimate downside at all to this that I have ever been made aware of, so...take the more ammo especially since it's in the gun without need to bring or execute a reload. In the event I were to have an unholstered pistol kept available, with an inserted mag and empty chamber, the mag would be fully loaded, again, because why not, never had an issue racking the slide on a full mag vs partial, and ammoin the gunis a something I do like to have maxed out much more so than worrying about how much is in a reload. Private citizen shootings are almost always ended one way or the other with only what is in the gun that is in reach at the start, and nothing more.
I keep long guns 'cruiser ready', that is, loaded magazine inserted, action closed, safety on, empty chamber. Why? Because I don't keep long guns on me or within arms reach forright nowuse the way I do with pistols. Long gun is usually in a quick access safe, on the passenger floorboard, in the back seat, in the trunk, whatever. If I have time to go grab it, I likely have time to rack it as I am picking it up. I also don't have immediate positive control over it when it's not on my person, as I do for a carried pistol, so I want that extra layer of safety in case any other person gets their hands on it. If and when I carry a long gun in a sling on me, I rack one into the chamber as I slung up. Basically I treat the long gun in my hands or in a sling (safety engaged of course) as a pistol in a holster. Also also I know manual safeties on a rifle are akin to a holster for a pistol, but I just don't trust a rifle bouncing around in the car not held by a person with a loaded chamber. Safeties can get caught on all kinds of stuff, as can triggers, and I want long guns kept the same way at all times for consistency (slung on me or in my hands for use, fully loaded, anywhere else where I have to pick it up to use it, chamber is empty it needs racked)
I use my support hand thumb to drop the slide release/bolt release on a locked-back reload. Why? It's faster, and it's the most consistent across all of my firearms. Any of my semi auto pistols, or an AR, it's basically an identical motion. I've never had a problem missing the slide release, and this is one that even if you do miss it, at least you know immediately, you don't keep going and only find out when you go to shoot even if that's 30 seconds later or whatever.

I've seen people do this and I have done it on the clock during a qualification as well. And you may not know it right away either...you could just be standing around behind cover with your thumb up your ass for 20 seconds and then when you need to shoot *CLICK*. Now, I will admit there is an argument for racking the slide by hand every time no matter what, it's consistent, you do the same thing for any type of reload, and you don't have to worry about doing something different if it auto forwards or not. But that's not what I choose.
