Here are things I do and more importantly why

I download every spare magazine. Usually -1 for pistol and -2 for rifle. I have seen many people, and have myself, done the above mentioned closed-action insertion that seemed good but wasn't. I believe I'm more likely to fubar the reload and not seat the mag all the way...than I am to do a 'tac reload' and then need literally every last round from that mag. I'm perfectly fine "only" having 14 or 16 rounds in my pistol reload or "only" having 28 rounds in my 5.56 reload.

I load pistols completely (aka, +1). There's no legitimate downside at all to this that I have ever been made aware of, so...take the more ammo in the gun without need to bring or execute a reload.

I keep long guns 'cruiser ready', that is, loaded magazine inserted, action closed, safety on, empty chamber. Why? Because I don't keep long guns on me or within arms reach for right now use the way I do with pistols. Long gun is usually in a quick access safe, on the passenger floorboard, in the back seat, in the trunk, etc. If I have time to go grab it, I likely have time to rack it as I am picking it up. I also don't have immediate positive control over it when it's not on my person, as I do for a carried pistol, so I want that extra layer of safety in case any other person gets their hands on it. If and when I carry a long gun in a sling on me, I rack one into the chamber as I sling up. I know manual safeties on a rifle are akin to a holster for a pistol, but I just don't trust a rifle bouncing around in the car etc with a loaded chamber (and I don't have fancy locking mounts for them in my cars or anything). Safeties can get caught on all kinds of stuff, as can triggers, and I want long guns kept the same way at all times for consistency (slung on me or in my hands for use is fully loaded, anywhere else where I have to pick it up to use it, chamber is empty)

I use my support hand thumb to drop the slide release/bolt release on a locked-back reload. It's faster and it's the most consistent across my firearms. I've never had a problem missing the slide release, and this is one that even if you do miss it, at least you know immediately, you don't keep going and only find out when you go to shoot even if that's 30 seconds later or whatever.

If the pistol "auto-forwards" when I slam the magazine in, I manually rack the slide. It's possible to hit it off center and bump it such that the slide comes forward without chambering a round. I've seen people do this and I have done it on the clock during a qualification as well. And you may not know it right away either...

I generally do not choose to or train to retain partial magazines. My 'tactical' reload sequence is: 1) Decide to reload, 2) Retrieve new magazine with support hand and bring it up towards the firearm, 3) at that time drop the old mag free and look down briefly as I immediately insert the new mag to minimize time the firearm has no inserted mag 4) let old mag hit the deck. If I'm behind cover or otherwise not moving I might pick the mag up and shove it in a pocket but probably not. Why? I'm more concerned with getting a new mag in the gun than anything else, and fumbling around with two mags in my hand at the same time to retain the old one is more complicated and increases the chances I fubar it and drop the new mag or just plain take too long, it's more steps it does take longer. The ammo in the spare mag will have to be enough. I choose to be fine "only" having the 14 or 16 or 28 or whatever it is that's in the reload.

What matters is you choose what you do based on an understanding of the pros and cons of the available choices and train consistently

Well, I've mis-loaded fully loaded mags on a closed bolt enough times, that I also download spare mags. I probably can overcome it with training, but it's just easier to download. It's weird because just sitting around, I can easily load 30-rd mages on a closed bolt, but on timer when I train, it's difficult. *shrugs*

Spare pistol mags, always topped off. I've never misloaded a fully loaded pistol mag on a closed slide.

Closing the bolt on an AR, I use the thumb. It's just faster, and it's how I train. With the thumb, I can have the rifle shouldered, and cheek on the stock. Slamming the bolt-catch with my palm means I have to have the rifle away from my face. It just feels awkward.

I always use slide release on pistol reloads.

Tac-reloads I will do when I know I only have 2 mags left (1 in rifle, 1 in pouch), and I decide to reload. I will retain the partial. If I have more than 2, I will let it drop when on the clock.

Speaking of presscheck/pressburg, tried running a Nofail drill yesterday but the fukin wind was so shiity I had to rely on a 6 inch steel popper at 20 yds. Suffice to say I sucked **** out of a straw so bad, that I got reassigned to picking corn husks out of shiet duty for the rest of my rotation.

Also, ordered the wilson combat (WC320) from Wilsan Cambat. Fukers said it was instock then I clicked again and ordered but then said out of stock, didn't get a shipment invoice. they are OOS everyhwere. mother ****ing bitch ****.

100% made from WC, they did not use the same frame that sig uses. SO I wanna see if it'll be better than the XCARRY module or not. looks pretty shekcsy

Always 29 rounds. Pistol mags, I keep them full, even the reloads. I've not really had issues with failures to seat with those. Rifle mags though? Always 29 rounds.

If you eliminate initial outbreaks in most countries the cfr is probably around . 8-1.5% It's going to kill some people but not nearly as many as some people are saying. I just want to know why people are stocking up on bottled water. The water infrastructure under attack or something?

People are realizing they are not prepared for, well, anything at all, and potable water is extremely important, to the point that one single day without is bad, so they want to have some. Most people don't have a well and filters and water on hand, that's why people are buying water.

I'm not buying water right now either. But that doesn't change the reasons that other people are.

Well personally we buy bottled water because without a filter, water out the faucet tastes like chit.
Aside from that, I'm just thinking about a purely worst case scenario: what happens if the people who maintain the water plants get sick, etc and can't maintain the plant then there's an extended period where it isn't safe to drink? Might be far fetched but better safe than sorry.

I live near an ocean. Worst case scenario, I'll boil water using wood from homes of dead Corona virus victims... who I'll cook to an IT of !60 degrees to ensure they're virus free!

Not the case with SARS. CFR during outbreak was estimated to be 3.X%. After the dust settled it was closer to 10% IIRC.
