That. Take it seriously now . . . do all the smart things and err on the side of caution and be aggressive with social distancing. Odds are, this will be looked back at and you'll see a far-less-than-worst-case result in terms of deaths. But you don't have that then if you're not smart about it now.
South Korea did it right, shut down, test everyone... was .06% death rate last I heard, Italy is something like 6-7%.

BTW, you guys know how a certain group of the population talks about how owning let alone carrying a gun is paranoia because the chances of needing it when you aren't in a high risk group is so low? You know how they sound and how you respond with better safe than sorry and it's worth the money and time and inconvenience and discomfort even though chances are you'll go your whole life without needing a gun?

Some of you and your arguments for dismissing this pandemic sound exactly like they do when they tell you that carrying a gun is beyond paranoid.

Don't deal drugs, don't be in a gang, don't be in the mafia, you don't need a gun don't worry about it it's super rare. Don't go to wuhan, don't go to northern italy, wash your hands, don't be over age 65-70, don't worry about it do everything as you normally would it's probably not going to hurt you

It's uncanny the similarities.

Yeah it's inconvenient and may even cost you money to cancel this that and the other and sit in your house for awhile. But, that's where we are.

South Korea shut the whole MF thing down at the point we're at right now. And only now are they getting their infection rate to level off (roughly 3 weeks later, and with WAY, WAY more testing than we're doing). We aren't doing that. Which means we have no chance of making out as well as they are.

Italy is particularly bad because they have the oldest population in Europe. When you have a virus that is especially lethal to older adults and you have the highest concentration of older adults around . . . you're phukked.

Not necessarily. Massive testing only tells you where your hot spots are . . . eventually, a large percentage of the population is going to get this regardless. Shutting down the large gatherings and really pushing the social distancing and hygiene (and people actually doing it because it's the smart thing to do) should considerably level off the infection rate.

Time will tell, but I would be surprised if the US doesn't come out of this with one of the lower death rates based on a number of factors.

Point is, their infection rate finally leveling is much more accurate due to the amount of testing. Ours isn't going up at the rate that we know it truly is becasue, still, we're not testing nearly enough people. We won't have anything close to accurate numbers for at least 2 weeks...which is scary AF knowing it has been here infecting since likely at least January...

March 12 (Reuters) - Carnival Corp's Princess Cruises, the operator of two coronavirus-stricken ships, said on Thursday it would suspend global operations of its 18 cruise ships for two months due to the outbreak.

The cruise line said the suspension was out of abundance of caution.

Damn, the media got to them too. I wonder how much the people who own the media and the world's governments are paying them to zero out their revenue stream for two months? Think it's more than they are paying the NBA?

This is what's scaring me. Nobody gives up billions of dollars for no reason. The NBA season suspension is what hit me hard. My wife's school is on Spring Break this week it'll be interesting to see if they open back up on Monday

You sacrifice a couple billion now . . . to try to get back to normal faster in the end and not cost yourself multiple billions more over a longer period of time.

RIP.

I need to go today to both Costco and Sam's. Was at Sam's on Fri and they had a bit of TP and paper towels in stock. They had been totally out for several days though.

Just got back from our annual Florida turkey hunting trip. Had the best year yet. Smoked birds and got in on a gator hunt. 10/10 would recommend.

Also, after catching up on the thread I realized that staying at a casino for 4 days and driving half way across the eastern US is probably a bad choice right now. YOLO.

Solo bird is me and mine, double pic is Dad and me with his 1 shot, 2 kill double. Gator was right at 10'.

No, I realize there is a threat and take precautions, not get hysterical. Not going to live in fear of superflu. OG flu kills tens of thousands per year in the US and no one even washed their hands until a few weeks ago, but let's freak out now.

Right. Don't live in fear. That's why you shouldn't own let alone carry a gun, except a double barrel shotgun for hunting...carrying a ? That's living in fear man

Thanks for the advice brahs
I think I’m going to start carrying my LCP2 or maybe my SW Shield 9mm, looking at getting a defender belly band holster for it, and just keep a double stack 9mm (probably G26 with an extra 17 round mag) locked in my desk while I’m at work.

Maybe start keeping a beater Beretta 92s or SW model 10 in my car too

Does anybody use a belly band? In particular with a Shield?
