And I mean the parking lot is VERY visible from the gym, the risk of someone walking out or being at the front of the store and seeing their car driving off is higher than any somewhat intelligent car thief would take.

this is more what I am thinking. Also a chance it could be illegals who wont be seeing any benefit from the government or aid.

You do realize there is a VERY high number of illegal immigrants in this country who are now fired from their hourly cash jobs who pay weekly rent and are drug/aclohol addicts with children to feed

That is a dangerous mixture during this time

Why's that when they can buy food at their local grocery store? They're probably banking on police being to preoccupied to catch them before the cars are parted out. Probably a solid bet.

If violent crimes increase drastically (home invasion, etc... where you're likely to be killed or tracked down) you'd have a point. This seems like a prudent move if you're in the business of car theft.

Apparently a chithole where it's perfectly normal for receptionists to hand out clients' car keys to random illegal immigrant tradies and drug addicts walking in off the street without so much as a gym bag.

I'd hate to see the clientele at that gym.

I go to two private gyms, both of which are really good gyms which have some top level power lifters and bodybuilders at them in the world. Both had a front desk that has key hooks on the customer side for them to hang their keys. I have never heard of a vehicle theft at either of them because like i said, there are cameras there and its VERY visible to see the parking lot.

And the apartments I live in as I said are on the nicer side in a nice neighborhood where its mostly higher price residences and an expensive golf course/club across the street.

also mind you its a golds gym sized gym, not lifetime level and the front facade is windows with the front desk right at the windows and the key rings along the front desk, so its not the most Thief friendly situation.

This seems much more like an act done out of desperation and not calculated planning.
Who the fk would leave their car keys with the gym receptionist? Sounds like a retarded idea unless you live in a really nice area or at a gym like equinox.

my gym does the same thing, always thought it was ****ing stupid to just leave all your keys in a bucket at the front. Always keep mine with me if I can't use a locked locker.

Don't get it either. My gym is full of $100k+ cars in the parking lot and everyone just leaves their keys on the wall. Seen many Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls Royce, and Maserati keys hanging there.

"Car key hooks on the customer side"? Damn didn't know that there still were urban middle-class neighbourhoods in America with such a strong sense of social trust.

i have a fairly nice car. im somewhat wary about where i park it but never have been like that at the gym

as people have alluded to in here, it actually seems like a real good spot to scope out and you know theyre likely gone for 45 minutes to an hour.

ive never had my car broken into but a while back i had a laptop in my bros car and his car was broken into and all the stuff inside plus the cd player and stuff was taken
