I have no idea if the CdNIM folks actually set out to make a clone, or if they just made something that ended up smelling similar (to a lot of people). Alexandria, however, is a house that prides itself on making clones, and giving their products names that hint at what they are trying to copy. It's not a coincidence that the only full bottle of Alexandria I own is NOT a copy, but rather their own unique creation... and I like it. So I don't hate the player.
As far as decants go, I'd much rather have 10mls of the real thing than 100mls of a clone. Honestly, it takes me years to go through a bottle of the stuff that I wear on a regular basis, and having hundreds of different fragrances, it makes more sense for me to pay the same for a decant of BR540 (which I have) versus a full bottle of a clone. If it's a niche that I really love, like Noir Aphrodisiaque, I don't mind paying for a fb because it's something I will always want to own, and may get even harder to acquire than it already is.
I understand why folks buy the clones, and that's cool. And like Coleman says, there's times when you just want to wear the real thing, even if you have the clone.... and that redundancy is not for me. I'd much rather buy two different things with the money than have two different versions of the same thing.

I'd much rather buy two different things with the money than have two different versions of the same thing.
I have no idea if the CdNIM folks actually set out to make a clone, or if they just made something that ended up smelling similar (to a lot of people). Alexandria, however, is a house that prides itself on making clones, and giving their products names that hint at what they are trying to copy. It's not a coincidence that the only full bottle of Alexandria I own is NOT a copy, but rather their own unique creation... and I like it. So I don't hate the player.
As far as decants go, I'd much rather have 10mls of the real thing than 100mls of a clone. Honestly, it takes me years to go through a bottle of the stuff that I wear on a regular basis, and having hundreds of different fragrances, it makes more sense for me to pay the same for a decant of BR540 (which I have) versus a full bottle of a clone. If it's a niche that I really love, like Noir Aphrodisiaque, I don't mind paying for a fb because it's something I will always want to own, and may get even harder to acquire than it already is.
I understand why folks buy the clones, and that's cool. And like Coleman says, there's times when you just want to wear the real thing, even if you have the clone.... and that redundancy is not for me. I'd much rather buy two different things with the money than have two different versions of the same thing.
I think I can use my few clones for casual days but the last time I wore one on a night out I was kinda wishing I just wore the original instead. I don't even wear niche often anyways so the one time I wear it I want it to feel right.
