Get well and I hope that test comes back negative. Don’t be surprised if the results take longer than they’re saying.

See if you can find out what lab ran your test and see if they have a patient portal of their own where you can check the results. That’s how I knew my results were in.

For real tho.. everyone stay safe!
"In a series of experiments in 2016 and 2017, a team led by Perlman infected male and female mice with the coronaviruses that caused severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). At every age, male mice were more susceptible to infection than females.

At the same time, the death rates of infected female mice shot up when their ovaries were removed, or when they got drugs that suppressed the activity of the hormone estrogen.

To Perlman, those dual findings strongly suggest that there’s something about estrogen that protects against the ravages of deadly coronaviruses — and he suspects it’s true for the new SARS-CoV-19 virus as well.

“Why does estrogen protect the woman, and how?” Perlman said. “We’d like to know.” Estrogen has so many important roles in the female body, “it’s hard to prove anything” about its specific protective powers, he said.

Not a doc but second rabbit on this, ive had really bad episodes of manual breathing (sometimes lasting till 8am) cause of anxiety, could be exacerbated by you worrying about it.

Once you're worried about not being able to breathe automatically and having to be put on a ventilator it's really hard to stop.

Do you find that symptoms tend to worsen around the evening and night and then get a bit better when the day begins? I noticed that earlier last year when I experienced a few days of flu. I was reading that your cortisol spikes during the day so you don't experience your symptoms as heavily as you do during the night, when your cortisol dips. If you're just lying there thinking about how bad you feel, that added focus would also amplify your symptoms.

I'd say you're 100% right with the humidifier. If you're experiencing a dry cough, you want there to be as much moisture in the air you're breathing as possible. You probably know this, but you would probably want to avoid caffeine altogether as well.

As for your mental health, it's true that feelings of anxiety and stress can result in physiological sensations like difficulty breathing. Anxiety will spike your heart rate and blood pressure. If you're already having trouble breathing, it only worsens it. I'd recommend doing deep breathing, a bit of meditation. Just focus on long in and out breathes.

It's probably most frightening when you wake up at like 4am, still groggy from whatever sleep cycle you just got ripped out of, experiencing symptoms full on now that you're newly awake. No wonder you had thoughts of going to the hospital.

Keep us updated, hope you feel better soon, and also best of luck to your fiance!

Thank you. I typically feel the best immediately after waking up but decline quickly afterwards. There isn’t too much change afterwards, it mostly depends on the amount of sleep I get.

Glad to hear it brah. It lasts about 2 weeks in almost everyone so you're not alone in that.

Keep in mind just cause the symptoms aren't getting better doesn't mean your body isn't winning the fight, I read that the immune response to this virus is pretty drastic, you might be fatigued even weeks after you're cured

I’ve been symptomatic for 2 weeks now, I’m expecting this will drag on for another week but would not be surprised if it took a month in total to resolve the symptoms at this rate.

Back when I had a bad case of mono in high school, it laid me out for 3 weeks and then I slept 10-12 hours a day for a month afterwards. Some viruses just deplete your energy and your body hits it with all it's got.

I would rest as much as I can if I were you, it's what your body needs right now

No way to isolate from fiancee? It's pretty contagious...she'll almost certainly get it if you're still sleeping together man.

I coincidentally also had a short bout of the flu myself earlier this winter. It seems like cold, flus, and pneumonia were rampant in the fall/winter this year. My wife's flu symptoms were atrocious. She was out for the count for at least 2 weeks. Actually made me really nervous. I got it with a mild fever for around 3 days.

Out of any medicine I've ever taken, I find robitussin worked decently.

I deadlifted with you in mind this morning, OP. You'll be back in the game soon enough!

Thanks man. Unfortunately today was a bit of a step backwards. A lot more respiratory symptoms, my lungs have been burning for the last few hours. Breathing is okay for now but I keep getting spells of lightheadedness so something is going on.

If you’re getting light headed, now is the time to go to the hospital.

Hope we hear back from you tomorrow.

I’m hoping I don’t have to, the hospitals in NY are slammed. It’s hard to gauge at what point I can no longer handle the symptoms myself.
