Yeah, I've looked into the Hydroxycloroquine and that doctor in particular from Westchester NY but at this stage and with my current symptoms it may not be necessary. Today is an improvement and I would be optimistic if tomorrow is an equal step in the right direction. I'd definitely feel more confident then about being able to self-resolve this.

Possibly, but it seems like it just has a different effect on people (not sure why). For instance, OP mentioned he lives in NYC with his fiance, so presumably she has it by now due to exposure to OP, but the only symptoms OP has reported for her was a headache...

I've heard that high-dose vitamin C is being used to treat patients with COVID-19. Does it work? And should I take vitamin C to prevent infection with the COVID-19 virus?

Some critically ill patients with COVID-19 have been treated with high doses of intravenous (IV) vitamin C in the hope that it will hasten recovery. However, there is no clear or convincing scientific evidence that it works for COVID-19 infections, and it is not a standard part of treatment for this new infection. A study is underway in China to determine if this treatment is useful for patients with severe COVID-19; results are expected in the fall.

The idea that high-dose IV vitamin C might help in overwhelming infections is not new. A 2017 study found that high-dose IV vitamin C treatment (along with thiamine and corticosteroids) appeared to prevent deaths among people with sepsis, a form of overwhelming infection causing dangerously low blood pressure and organ failure. Another study published last year assessed the effect of high-dose vitamin C infusions among patients with severe infections who had sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), in which the lungs fill with fluid. While the study's main measures of improvement did not improve within the first four days of vitamin C therapy, there was a lower death rate at 28 days among treated patients. Though neither of these studies looked at vitamin C use in patients with COVID-19, the vitamin therapy was specifically given for sepsis and ARDS, and these are the most common conditions leading to intensive care unit admission, ventilator support, or death among those with severe COVID-19 infections.

Regarding prevention, there is no evidence that taking vitamin C will help prevent infection with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. While standard doses of vitamin C are generally harmless, high doses can cause a number of side effects, including nausea, cramps, and an increased risk of kidney stones.

You might be right in a general sense but im pretty sure its different in extreme measures.

The reports were nyc was treating it with vitamin c. And they started with 1500 mg of intravenous vitamic. Up to 3 or 4 doses a day. So, up to 6000 mg.

The people who were worse were getting vitamin c, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and a few other things

I'm not going to tell you what to take, but, do some research on baking soda, olive leaf extract, and mushroom extracts and see if you think those could maybe benefit you. I'm glad to see you are taking oregano oil.

will be good if you can get some lipo****l vitamin c, that healed my flu always no doctors, 2 3 packs of lip vit c and sleep a 39 degree fever drops to nothing, something about lipo****l making the vit c pass through blood barrier, normal vit c does not have such of a high bioavailability

2nd straight day of improvement. I'm optimistic that I've pushed through this, but still cautious because I did have a reprieve from the symptoms last week before things got worse again.

My lung capacity seems like it's going to take some time to get back to where it was before this.

Yes amazon is really backed up, it was impossible to get an oximeter from amazon in under 2 weeks.

I had a family member go to a local health food/vitamin place that had everything in stock still and deliver it to me.

Lab testing has been a huge advancement over the years for the medical field. However, like radiology imaging, it's not perfect. False positives/negatives can happen and doctors should still be allowed to exercise clinical judgement when making their final diagnoses.

Isn't anywhere from 80-100 average for you o2 levels? Im pretty sick, don't think its corona but definitely my chest and throat feels a bit depressed. Im taking 1,000mg vitamin C, 30mg zma, and 5,000iu of vitamin D. Think I should probably bump up my vitamin C intake? Really glad to hear you're feeling better op. Keep us updated!

You really don't want your spO2 to drop below 90 from what I understand.

I've been at 3000-4000mg vitamin C and 40-50mg of zinc daily for the past 5 days or so in addition to a ton of other immune support supplements and natural anti inflammitories.

Good to hear you are on the mend. I'm starting to believe that the immune system support is the most important aspect of recovery.
For lung recovery, you need lysine + Vit C according to this RN working in the research field.

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

I got sick a bunch of years ago, hit me like a ton of bricks. Acute bronchitis with some fluid buildup in the lungs. My blood O2 was 82%. I went to work that morning feeling it come on, but didn't think much of it. A couple hours later I barely made it to the car from my office building (my bro picked me up), they put me in a wheelchair in the ER but I had to stand for chest xrays. I almost passed out and the tech had to catch me.

Curious to know if OP is as in shape or not. Obviously he looks so in his avi but that could be old, he could’ve used illegal stuff to get in the shape. Did you do cardio, OP? Do you know what your resting heart rate was before you got sick?

I'm getting zinc from a few different sources. It's in the emergen-c packets I take which should be available at walmarts, gnc, ect...
There's zinc in a joint supplement I take.
And then I'm taking zinc lozenges which were from a local health food/vitamin store.

Got tested at an urgent care, City MD. It's a nasal swab that goes as far up your nose as possible for a few seconds in each nostril. Minor discomfort, not painful.

Yes in shape. Avi is representative of my physique, maybe a bit leaner now but I'm sure the last 3 weeks have cost me some muscle mass. I've never used anything illegal to get in shape and I do cardio on and off as my schedule/time/motivation allows. I don't recall what my resting heart rate was prior to getting sick but it's always been low and in the same range most athletes generally see. I also have always had low blood pressure.

No. if you're checking your oxygen on your finger and are not a smoker or have COPD, etc then your o2 should be above 94% with a RR between 12-16 if you're not exercising or if you're just sitting around miscing. And more like 98% in reality. If you're breathing 20 times a minute because you're walking up some stairs or something your oxygen shouldn't drop because your increased breathing rate has compensated for what you need.

You may be hearing/reading about your oxygen levels on blood draws like an ABG/VBG, where oxygen consumption can be determined.

lol OP you have me convinced that my negative test result was a false negative or because I didn't swab deep enough. your experiences, patient experiences and mine all mirror so closely it's crazy.

Yah if you are past the worst of it I'd just wait it out. You wont provide any real data for them to study the effects if you are already getting better. Also sorta better to leave those drugs for people that might actually need them.

Could be, I've heard of people getting tested negative at first and then later getting a positive test. There's a lot of faulty tests from what I understand.

She's entirely asymptomatic, no idea how but that's great for her obviously.

There's no chance in hell she wasn't exposed, but supposedly 25% of people are completely asymptomatic, so hopefully she's one of the lucky ones. Another thing that's coming out of research is that this is hitting men much harder than women.
