Anyone know where I can pick up an N95 mask without paying a lot?

I really don't want to support the vultures who bought up all the masks and are now selling them on ebay. But, now that the CDC recommends everyone where a mask, I don't have one and I'd like to find out where I can pick one up.

If anyone knows, let me know [MOD REPS!]

Thanks,
pogue

I would be careful of buying them off ebay now. I imagine there are a lot of fakes going around. I did see some in the hardware shop in the paint section, but they are probably all long gone now. I believe they are also called P2 masks, but you should double check.

I tried Loews and Home Depot and they are completely sold out.

CDC is recommending non-medical cloth "masks". Nothing more than a bandana.

Basic law of supply and demand determines every n95 mask is either going to be expensive, or sold out at this point. You'll have better luck making your own. 3D printing a mask to house the filter is also viable.

They have a lot of masks on their website, some claim to be made by 3M. But I have no idea if any of these are legit or not.

N95 masks are for health workers. Go make a fabric one like the surgeon general recommends and save the real ones for those at risk.

Also, first you go full potato against masks, despite everyone shouting you down. Then you go full potato in trying to procure chinese bullschit n95s even tho the government specifically tells everyone to NOT wear those, but to save them for the health care workers.

Just lol.

YouTube has a boatload of videos how to make them at home with what you have on hand. My wife sews and made some today. Many you don't need to sew together. You can even make one out of paper towels and a couple rubber bands that work fine and disposable.
A democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. And that's why the USA is a constitutional republic and not a democracy.

Yeah, my wife went out and got a really nice sewing machine and has made about 30 of these masks this week for family and old coworkers.

Dude, just give it a rest. You don't have to come here and gloat over me. Things change rapidly. Nobody knew this was going to grow into a global pandemic and we are all required to wear masks and stay indoors.

He makes a valid point though. A bandana meets the coronavirus.gov recommendations.

This is copy and pasted right from the website.

-Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others
-You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
-Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
-Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without
assistance.
-The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
-Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.
-Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

Looks like a weird site. Says it ships from Hong Kong, and AFAIK, they have been having major mask shortages in Hong Kong.

Incorrect. You (we) are being asked to wear makeshift masks, and asked to save the n95s for healthcare workers.

I'm trying to buy some from Ali Express, but when I try and buy it or add it to cart it tells me "Please provide the missing information", but I have no idea what information it's talking about. I created an account and am signed in, so I'm a little bit baffled as to what to do.

I will send you some for free if you're that concerned. srs I work for a safety distributor.

The quicker you get it the quicker you’ll know if you’re strong enough to fend it off and you can stop worrying (even if you repeat get it)
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

You don't need an N95 mask pogue. You can wear an ordinary surgical mask. You should leave those masks for the professionals since there is a shortage.

Well, the ones I'm looking at are coming from China, so I think they're all just for sale for anyone.

To everyone telling me to make my own mask: Yes, I know you can do that and it works fine. But, I just would prefer to buy these N95 masks with the little vent holes in them to intake and exhale air.

Did you make an account? It says fill out missing info. That is probably what they mean. Also, if you're gonna use an N95 mask, my brother said a lot of people don't use them correctly. Make sure you shave your beard to ensure there is a seal. You should not be able to smell anything from outside if the mask is working correctly. You put the mask on and then clamp down on the nose metal bar things to get a good seal on your face.

In case you are unaware:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...ace-cover.html
The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.
It would be a good idea to this in your information thread in case there are other posters that are buying masks.
