brb American manufacturing still in full swing, anyone could get a dope job with pension and bennies
brb real estate for the price of a betamax VCR
brb big cities were diverse and full of grit, not just rich people, their slaves, and endless traffic
brb planet still doing well for the most part
brb not everything was overcrowded, could still enjoy hobbies without a million other people crowding you out
brb no fat people, everyone looking dope in short shorts and cutoff mesh shirts
brb not even a hint of internet or social media, sloots still had to put on pants and leave the house to get banged by Chads
brb still unaware that everything causes cancer and erryone getting heart disease
brb cold war gave us a common enemy, relatively united as a people
brb last great era of pop music and entertainment before corporate takeovers
brb everything (everything *sniff sniff*) was about excess, everyone indulging
brb masculinity still embraced, arnold, stallone, van damme, dolph, cruise, all leading men

Was it really that good? I know it wasn't all gravy (inflation, Iran, interest rates, etc.), but seems like a pretty GOAT era.

For the most part agreed, although I'd take the late 90's early 2000's over again instead. The internet really wasn't cancer during that time like it is now.

Well, I was a kid in the 80s but one thing I remember is that everyone was unapologetically American and proud of it. I also miss the Cold War world...sure, there was a lot of problems around the world but there was a balance and comfort knowing who the adversary was.

I was a kid but I remember going to the mall was always fun. People were usually outside doing something and actually talked to their neighbors. Saturday morning cartoons were still a major thing as was TGIF. I remember a kid in my class had a piece of the Berlin wall after it came down. Most of my childhood days were spent playing basketball, football, kickball, shooting bb guns at each other, and riding bikes.

I’m going to say it was the best decade for me . Not very much stress in those days . Work was fairly easy to find , but in 1980 there was the oil crash .
Had an 81 Z28 back then for picking up the girls . Not many sloots back then ,we actually had woman . Not srs, their all sloots lol .

This. Was just discussing growing up when and where I did with an old friend I’ve known since I was 13. We didn’t have much, but we didn’t know it either. So much fun during those times.

Geez I think it was like 160 hp lol . Still was a lot of fun and seemed to go well

Googled it , apparently it was 175hp. My TransAm was 180hp,and seemed faster , so I assumed a SBC was quite a bit less.
I think the TA has way more TQ though

It was fun. People went out and did things together to have fun. Only techies had computers at home and they weren't networked. It was normal to walk up to girl and introduce yourself if you wanted to meet her. Most people weren't angry all the time like many seem to be now. We were optimistic about the future. There seemed to be a lot less depression, suicide, social anxiety, and mental illness. There were noticeably fewer people, so less traffic and less ******t noise. I miss those years. Sometimes I get nostalgic and wish I had more photographs to remember the people and places by, but only dorks walked around with cameras back then. I have very few pictures and most of the faces and names of people I knew are a bit blurry in my mind now.

Pretty sure your pics #3 and #7 are from the 70's. The soft drink cans in #3 look like 70's cans. The cars and paint schemes and clothing in #7 scream 70's to me.

3 might be late 70's. 7 was 1980, supposedly.
