The 80's were truly the GOAT! So many things already talked about in this thread, but here are some of my favorite parts of them:

Concert tickets for any band were $17-$19 tops (and that's with fees) and if you slept out you could get in the first couple rows for that price. I went to tons of concerts. Saw Bon Jovi at a free concert at a club in NJ when Runaway just came out. I think it was 100 people max. Saw Metallica open up for Ozzy. We practically lived at the Spectrum.

Hair bands, big hair, spandex oh yeah!

Being outside playing with friends all day. We only had to be home for dinner and when it got dark. Riding bikes, walking a block to the neighborhood pool (we lived there in the summers), roller skating, ice skating, etc. etc.

Records! Waiting for new release records and coming home immediately with friends to listen for the first time.

I remember the day MTV aired. We were hanging out waiting for that first video. The Friday night video fights and Headbangers Ball.

People were social, you went out and did things. You talked to people. Everyone didn't have their face in a phone.

So many great things. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I agree that the people born in the 80's can't really speak to them much. I was blessed to be a teen all throughout the 80's. GOAT decade to be a teen. God I miss it.

It was 1989 again and i was on holiday with my mom, dad, sister, Uncle Frank and auntie Susan.

Uncle Frank was my hero, he had been in the special forces, had a moustache and a good tan, chain smoked cigars and played golf all day and drank a chitload of beer.

Uncle Frank was a real life Hannibal from the A-Team to me, he was alpha as fuc and i always loved it when he visited us.

This summer we had all gone on holiday together, it was fucin great.

It was the 80's and i had gotten a hold of toy caps... 80's brahs will know. You hit them with something and they go bang. Well i would carefully unwrap one of Uncle Frank's cigars and using a pin push several cps into it, and sometime later that day you would hear a BANG and uncle Frank shouting "doughnutking you little ******* you're dead!!!" as he sat with the end blown off his cigar.

We were all staying in a resort and one day in the afternoon there was a kerfuffle and my mother and susan were going apechit because dad and Frank had found some brewery who had sold them a chitload of drink for fuc all and they were completely wasted and drinking it outside.

My mother and auntie susan took myself and my sister shopping and i went into a shop and got an instant boner when i came across a poster of....

I was in love with the poster....in love with Tiffany.

when we got back to the hotel i couldn't wait to show Uncle Frank and proudly show him this 10/10 HBB....he took one look at it and said...

and my 8 year old self started to laugh and say "FANNY" Uncle Frank said "Fanny?!"

I didn't care it was Tiffany... and she was mine now... i had the poster.

Now i wasnt the only one who thought Uncle Frank was alpha as fuc, my father did as well..

My father had sported a beard since the 1970's and i'd never seen him without it.

The following morning i was sitting in the kitchen when suddenly this Mexican peasant walked in and i screamed only to realise it was my father who had shaved off his beard whilst drunk only to leave a moustache like Uncle Frank and with it a white stripe on his face where his beard used to be. He didn't factor in his tan when he shaved it off.

later that day we went on the strip and i played arcade games all day whilst my father and Frank got drunk as usual, Billie jean came on and the doughnutking let out a "SHAMONE" and moonwalked across the arcade trying to impress some Elizabeth Shue lookalikes.

I didn't give a chit about what anyone thought or the other kids, i death stared all of them knowing if chit got real i'd karate kid crane kick them all or "sweep the leg" because i was basically Cobra Kai, and if that failed i'd bail and Uncle Frank would kill them all with his bare hands.

was born 79 so my experience from the 80s was limited to being a kid.

my dad was gone most of the day because of work and my mother was a stay at home. very rare to find that these days
i rode my bike with my friends late morning and didnt come home til before it was dark. remember the kids from stranger things? basically thats what we did. ride bikes, go to the arcades, play transformers, etc
we didnt have cartoon channels playing kid stuff 24/7; the only ones playing were afterschool (for about an hour) and saturday morning. channels would shut off and show static or the red/green
i used to watch WWF all the time. watching hulk hogan body slamming andre the giant was one of those moments that i will always remember.
seeing the challenger space shuttle burn through the sky was another moment i would never forget..... i looked up to astronauts as a kid; to me, their job was heroic. the crash left a lasting impression and made me all the more appreciate what they did
also remembered when the berlin wall was torn down. schooling taught us how bad communism was and seeing it torn down gave me a sense that america won and beat russia.
i saw my first pair of tits from a stash of playboy magazines my uncle was hiding. i was probably 8 years old and the magazines gave me the weirdest
80s action movies were awesome. i used to get hyped from watching rambo, rocky (IV was the best), Schwarzenegger, Van Damme from blood sport.... i'd spend almost an hour doing push ups, jumping jacks, sit ups, etc

good times.

Dunno man, I was born in 80, first tape my parents bought me was Appetite for Destruction (srs)...I had an appreciation early on, whether I knew it or not. I remember my cousin trying to keep up with Slippery When Wet (looooool) and just wasn't the same.

Seen April Wine in concert in the 80’s. I have to say they sounded just like they do on their album , excellent imo .
We also had Reveen lol. He was a well known hypnotist at the time . Not too many people are aware of him nowadays
