Why do people hate conspiracy theorists so much?

If you question something people legit get mad and insult you. If you question the government people call you crazy. Forums like reddit just censor you. For example you can't even have a thought on the moon landing being faked or 5g towers being linked to anything because people will just ridicule you.

The major problem is that CT's do not tend to abide by sound epistemic scruples. Good theories are usually robustly falsifiable, CT's usually aren't. Any contradictory evidence is integrated into the narrative: It's fake news, the dissenters are "in on it", "that's what they want you to think!" etc. There is also a good deal of post hoc, ergo propter hocin there too.

It's basically a tired and eternally redundant cycle where all it's propositions are internally coherent but not corroborative, which allows itself to persist in the face of repeated disconfirmation. They tend to be structurally identical to a paranoid delusion.

It's when they ignore overwhelming amounts of evidence that they're wrong. Like flat earthers.

The thing is sometimes crazy chit actually does happen, so it's important to question the established order. Just gotta make sure you're doing it for the right reasons and not just to be contrarian because at that point you'll believe anything to convince yourself the conspiracy is real.

i m no flat earther, but how do you know they're wrong? you been on the moon and seen the earth yourself? most of the nasa pics of earth are photoshopped 3D models. srs. look it up. sizes of countries change for every earth pic, its a joke.

Because they spend all their time worrying about/researching things that will never have an effect on their life. There's a reason most of them are broke living in their mom's basement.


Basically, it's another form of escapism, like video games. They think they gain value by knowing things that the general public doesn't. The reality is nobody gives a chit, but other losers. Nobody actually cares who shot JFK. Nobody actually cares who landed on the moon. Anybody with something going for themselves will take people's word that we landed on the moon, because it's feasible enough. Then you can focus your resources on productive things.

The government is using the corona as a smoke screen to cover up that the 5g network is what is killing everyone. The corona attacks mainly the lungs, but in Wuhan where it first started people were dropping dead without a notice. This all started happening when they installed the 5g network over there. When someone catches the corona virus it take days, weeks, or months to kill someone. It's the radiation from the 5g network that is killing people not the corona. The government is trying to get everyone vaccinated because they put a chip in the vaccine which would show where you are and where you've been. They won't let you go anywhere and would even segregate the people who refuse to take the vaccine and wont let them go anywhere, some even say that they would take you on a bus and take you somewhere until you take it. This is absolutely crazy and the worst part is, there's an actual antidote if you get sick. I don't know if the government wanted certain areas to have less of a population but its not full the corona virus that killed all of those people. The government was blaming almost every death on the Corona to scare people, and if you didn't know when you get scared your immune system gets weak and you are at a higher risk of getting sick and with the radiation from the 5g network it would make you die faster. Ya'll don't have to believe me do your own research, there a lot more to it but this is main part of the confusion pandemic. Stay woke everybody.

I haven't seen any overwhelming evidence we landed on the moon. I don't attack moon believers but they sure do get pissed at people who question it.

For one they shouldn't be considered theories. Another thing is they derail the conversation. I had a conversation with a couple of co-workers and one guy stared talking about hikers going missing. Out our nowhere the other guy came out and said it was related to pizza gate. We both just kind of nodded our heads.

You have only smelled it. Have you actually tasted your chit after poop? How do you know it has no nutritional value? Anyone into conspiracy theories should read this srs. It’s the most common sense argument why some conspiracy theories just can’t be true. At some point if it’s thousands of people “in” on it there will be a leak. how do season work? how do timezones why can a middelschool kid calculate the incidence angle of light pretty exact using a round earth model?
Have you ever tried to project a round object onto a sphere? The only way to get the sizes right would be an Euler spiral and that would cut the map into stripes.

This. Keeping an open mind and employing some natural skepticism is good, but some take it to the extreme. Believing everything you hear isnt good, you need to have common sense. Thinking that everything you're told is a means to cover up some greater truth is also not good. Of course the government is capable of being dishonest at times, but to question every thing they say to the point of delusion is not healthy or normal. These people think they somehow know have knowledge that the rest of us don't. From moms basement they think they've cracked the code, found the truth the rest of us are to naive to see. This makes them smarter and more insightful then the average joe. Facts that challenge their views are dismissed as propaganda or fake news. Take the 9-11 crazies. The fact that the accused said yes we did this means nothing. They suffer from delusions of grandeur.

Idk dude it happened 50 years ago. What would it even matter if some old person said something at this point?

My point is people are calling conspiracy theorists crazy or mentally ill or just straight up getting pissed at them for questioning certain things or the government.

My argument against them is that they reinforce and employ bad errors in critical thinking. Namely, that they are usually an endless recursion of self-reinforcing propositions designed in such a way to resist any and all countevidence. Which is what you seem to be doing now. And the question I've been asking all throughout this: Just who are this mysterious "they"?
