Good for you. Piece of advice, sounds funny but you have to check them for butt plugs. Their crap can harden and form a plug over their anus, they will die if you dont remove this. Hot water and a cloth to loosen it and gently peel it off. Doing this will reduce your chick death rate.

Nice brah I have chickens too and nothing beats a fresh egg from one of your chickens. Tastes way better than store bought eggs. Make sure you get a UV light to hang over the crate so they don't get cold.

This. I know it sounds gross but I grew up on a farm and every single day you need to check their feathers, their beak, and their anus. It happens semi-regularly so when you eventually do need to clean it out - do NOT use rubber/latex glothes.

Also if you are keeping the chicks inside and have kids and other animals in the house, then I hope you are prepared to clean up the house of feathers and feces every single day, because it can send children to the hospital if they put it in their mouth and could kill your cats.

Need a coop even if you do free range them. When my parents chickens got big enough, my dad would let them free range (10 acres) and they would come back to the coop on their own at night when the predators came out.
