Gotcha. I didnt say that and you might not be schizo yet, but you're definitely near the bottom of society. Maybe one or two rungs up from a homeless schizo, so its not a stretch why you would get lumped in with that crowd. It might have been normal in your little world 10 years ago to say the moon landing was faked, but in reality, it was never normal.

Good news is if you're not schizo yet you can still turn your life around. You have an opportunity being born in north america to be a part of something much bigger than yourself. Join the people that sent rockets into space, decoded the human genome, developed artificially intelligent software, built skyscrapers, and made millions in the stock market. Or you can continue to be a bottom feeder holed up in your little world, living pay check to pay check, barely surviving. It's really up to you.

Bigfoot is actually blurry.

My friends aunt is a Sasquatch believer and set up a YouTube channel and a group of other believers. Sasquatch is a thing to her and she makes videos of dog **** and says it's Bigfoot scat, or a branch falling next to a tree trunk and that was a lean to for Bigfoot to spend the night in, or a scattering of rocks are a sign that Bigfoot is sending messages.

They look for reasoning in every single thing to justify their beliefs no matter how out of touch they are

Point is people don't have a problem with asking questions...conspiracy theorists obviously take it far beyond that questioning when they refuse to accept anything they don't want to hear (which is any official/widely believed/reasonable answer.)

Type I) Cannot accept the truth because it would hurt them a lot because of personal values.

or is a naturally smart underachiever with a lack of critical thinking skills and too much time on his hands. He is naturally great at recognizing patterns and loses himself in them.
"Look a pyramid those guys have to illuminati satanist ****phile jews."

Type II) Gives a factual reason, why he believes something.
"Assad had nothing to gain by using Chemical weapons against IS, when is already winning that war and has to rely international support."

Arguments:
Type I) Gathers tons of info to strengthen his premise, never really questions his own premise, is convinced his conspiracy is true, stays in the same bubble, lacks the ability to discern good sources from bad ones, repeatedly ignores evidence, that disproves him
Type II) Looks at arguments for both sides, recognizes his own limits, actually stays sceptical knowing he has no true insider info

Conclusion:
Type I) normally fails to consider the consequences his theories would have if true (nearly all popular conspiracy theories fail, if this is considered properly)
Type II) waits for more info to confirm his idea

I don't hate CTers, but a lot of their theories aren't really all that well thought out

For me to take any interest in a conspiracy theory the why has to make sense. "They" want to destroy our economy makes no sense. A crippled economy benefits no one.

But, using the virus to give corporations bailouts with taxpayer money makes a lot of sense.

When you throw out science you kind of have free reign to declare anything you want to be true/false.

The flat earth conspiracy in particular is pretty astounding as if that were actually true there could be no elements with more protons that helium. In a flat earth universe there is no flat earth because there is no solid mater at all.

Some people believed it, because it was on TV and those TV shows were pretty good at presenting that stuff as actual science. Most people still laughed at that stuff though. Especially ancient Aliens.

The problem is showing the critical thinking skills to properly question things, weighting the consequences and thinking them through properly.

For your moonlanding example: Can we 100% know they went to the moon? No. Is it insanely unlikely they managed to fool the KGB into thinking they did, while some random youtubers find that out? Yes.
That should be more than enough to drop the case.

A conspiracyguy will ignore basic logic and instead go back to the drawing board and keep analyzing the footage over and over again until he finds another thing that's wrong.

You mad I didn't even go to college? I'm just curious and question everything. I don't take opinions given to me at face value. I think them through, attack them from all angles in my head. If they hold up after they've been cross referenced with what I know to be true, they're accepted, If they crumble under the pressure of truth, they fall away. you should try it sometime.

I don't hate conspiracy theorists, but I am certainly annoyed by people that believe things without evidence, or those that make massive leaps to try and form connections where there are none. If something is true, it should be easily demonstrated, and it can't be considered true until it is. It's really that simple.

I enjoy good conspiracies because they make you look deeper into things and the possibility of things not being what you originally believe, however I hate most conspiracy theorists because before this stuff was popular it was people researching things on their own, looking into multiple sources, and doing other stuff to get information and back their points. Now its just people taking a social media post or one youtube video that took information from social media post and then they just run with it.

This Q anon trump conspiracy was the first one in years that i've been able to get into that was annoying and believable, but then when I realized how long its been going on, when dates and numbers started getting thrown around and nothing happened, and then when they started adding military stuff into it that I know only appeals/believable to someone who has never served atleast in combat arms(like talking about there is some secret underground bunker war with rescue mission of thousands of kids that no one is seeing) I then knew it was bs too because that type of mission and support would require a lot of help unless this was an expendables you get hurt or die you stay underground lol.

Most theorists now are just peoples opinions based off coincidences and other peoples opinions with no factual data behind it or its fear mongering.

The only way I could have made that prediction is by taking all the data I know to be true and constructing an educated guess on what I believe will happen in the future based on factual information/truth. There is a difference between people who live honestly and don't delude themselves of what is true and those who live off lies to cope with existence. One group will be able to make accurate predictions but will likely be somewhat depressed because of the truths he knows, the other will be blissfully ignorant and won't be able to make accurate predictions. If you properly read his post, you would have seen, he already investigated that stuff and came up with some universal criteria why he is discarding them.

It's pretty easy to see the difference and if someone articulates his arguments properly noone will call him conspiracy theorist. Chomsky wasn't called conspiracy theorist for example, when he blamed a lot of foreign stuff on the CIA. Some turned out right, some wrong, but his arguments were still plausible.


Motivation:
Type I) Cannot accept the truth because it would hurt them a lot because of personal values.
"My genes cannot have given my son autism, it was big pharma."
or is a naturally smart underachiever with a lack of critical thinking skills and too much time on his hands. He is naturally great at recognizing patterns and loses himself in them.
"Look a pyramid those guys have to illuminati satanist ****phile jews."

Type II) Gives a factual reason, why he believes something.
"Assad had nothing to gain by using Chemical weapons against IS, when is already winning that war and has to rely international support."

Arguments:
Type I) Gathers tons of info to strengthen his premise, never really questions his own premise, is convinced his conspiracy is true, stays in the same bubble, lacks the ability to discern good sources from bad ones, repeatedly ignores evidence, that disproves him
Type II) Looks at arguments for both sides, recognizes his own limits, actually stays sceptical knowing he has no true insider info

Conclusion:
Type I) normally fails to consider the consequences his theories would have if true (nearly all popular conspiracy theories fail, if this is considered properly)
Type II) waits for more info to confirm his idea
Chomsky has a great mind.

Well, hey. If the government makes people stay home for as long as it takes the vaccine to come out, I'll be sure to do that. However, if in a month or two they admit to overstating the severity, I might have to wait another 5-10 years.
