Ask me anything about what happens in hotels, SRS

I've worked the front lines for years, seen and heard almost everything. Internal strife amongst staff and unruly guests.

After falling in disgrace to a manmore, a ravaged manlet would not hesitate to come from behind and land a sucker punch/ swing with a rock to the back of a manmore's head. absolutely

they dress the part when they check-in and wander about the common areas

then they expose themselves by calling the front desk every hour for new bed sheets and towels, LOL

they also have the audacity to meet their johns in the lobby for everyone to see

one time an under-cover cop posing as a john , went in the room, arrested the prostitute, and I had to pack all her stuff in the room and her "friend" probably her pimp picked it up

heroin addicts in their 20s and 30s rented at least 3 rooms one night

2 of those rooms got absolutely wrecked m8, at least 15 -20 people were inhabiting each room, people coming in and out all night, they were having a shoot up/smoking party and orgy

broken/stolen furniture and amenities, a voodoo doll with weird drawings on it, hekka coloring books , needles, food and its wrappers, used condoms, and random crap all over the room, ashes, used cigs and rolling papers, traces of weed, clothes, stolen mail, stolen credit cards and checks

the room smell was a combo of weed/cigs/and rotten food

one dude was so passed out, we had to yell and bang on the wood headboard and poke at him to get him wake up and gtfo , it was way past check out time.

another guy kept complaining to me one if his "friends" in the room stole his leather jacket

caught a guy and girl shooting/smoking inside the little gated off dumpster area

mgmt basically told them to gtfo NAO before we called popo on them , they finally vacated the rooms but then they were setting up camp in the parking lot grass area, we called the police to tell them to gtfo

separate story

yes, someone passed away in a room, the ambulance/police/coroner showed up and it was a scene in the lobby in the middle of the day, can't give too many details

1. Biggest tip you ever got?

20 bucks just for brining a cart to a room and some hangers

2. Are all hotel employees treated like chit by management?

And a lot of it really has to do with how the on-site managers are as people. There's a lot of corporate HQ BS out of anyone's control but your on-site leaders, your: General Manager, AGM, head of Food and Bev., head of Housekeeping and chief engineer are the people that can make or break the employee experience.

It's a very high turnover industry , there's a alot of crappy managers who didn't really pay dues to get their rank and they can't keep good employees, but to be fair, there's alot of bad employees who don't take things seriously. It's a complex problem. Management wants good employees but fail them more often than not. There's alot of good people out there to hire but alot of companies pay crap and can't attract that many good people. So they are forced to settle for low tier workers. High quality workers will start off with low wage positions but it's just a stepping stone that doesn't last long. They will leave as soon as they get the experience for something better. I've worked from low end entry level to high end manager wages. Speaking from both sides.

3. Do hbb maids put out to their male coworkers or are they off limits?
Yea some housekeepers hook up with maintenance or F and B guys. But like 95% of them don't .

can't say real names but...

1 former NBA player from the 70s and 80s, a HOFer , he actually greeted me 1st, low key, didn't ask for anything.

a current NFL player, was a league MVP, was low key , low maintenance and polite. was a regular guest.

some ratchet hood reality TV star, had no idea who it was until someone told me, didn't care...

I heard Drake came through one night I wasn't there, he was wearing shades, a scarf, and hat trying not to be seen.

and a southern rap legend from Texas, was wandering around looking for someone, he stood right next to me and walked away.

We changed the sheets after every check out, after every 3 to 5 nights if they stay a while, or by request.

join the rewards club online, it should be free, book online directly with the hotel (no 3rd party like expedia.etc), ask for free upgrade for being a member over the phone before you check-in in person.

if you book on one their slow nights, you should get upgraded pretty easily, because mgmt want to earn your loyalty and get good survey scores and online reviews.

if its a busy night, you better already be a high ranking member , if not, you most likely will not get a free upgrade

Planning and seeing through the hard work and collaboration it takes for employees to clean and maintain guest rooms and public areas, I get the feels of old fashioned American hard work. Also, all the stories you collect from dealing with the general public. will tell kids and grandkids.

yea, pro tip to always follow...do not use the duvet/comforter on the beds, they are not changed out after each guest. They are only changed when they're noticeably stained or damaged. Reason being, they take up alot of space in the washer and not cost/time efficient to wash all the time. If you insist on using the comforter/duvet, call the front desk and ask for a new one.

managers frequently will hire people they worked with at other hotels or from school, sometimes their own kinfolk, but it's not too often

also, managers will ask their employees if they know anyone good from other hotels and tell their friend/former coworker to leave to come work with them, most companies have a referral bonus

When I worked at a hotel, the main lesson that was drilled into us was to keep the guests happy. I assume most hotels operate similarly, and if you’re aware of this mentality, it can be quite easily used to your advantage as a guest.

The best “unofficial” way to get a room upgrade would be to check into whatever room they give you first, then return to the front desk almost immediately and complain about the room. Obviously this requires finding an issue (or issues) with the room, but that’s honestly not hard if you get creative (or, in some cases, the room will have quite obvious and overt issues). Then a little acting is involved in that you have to sell your issues to the front desk, but ultimately it’s incredibly difficult for the hotel staff to disagree with you.

Odds are incredibly good that whatever room you get moved to will be better than the previous room, because from a hotel staff perspective you will be deemed ‘fussy’ or ‘difficult’, and we just we want to be done with such annoying ass hotel guests ASAP.

forgotten items get logged and locked away in lost and found , after 30 days of the guest not claiming the item(s) the hotel is free to do whatever with the items. Most hotels will keep items for 60 to 90 days though.

when I was legally cleared to do so, I did get to keep a couple nice shirts

TBH , high ticket stuff gets claimed by the guest right away

abandoned high price stuff is usually broken.

LOL, I hate when guests lie to get upgraded, pisses me off so much, but it works more often than not. He's right.

But please don't be a dick and do that. Housekeeping has to go back and fix up the room or if housekeeping is gone, the front desk can't sell the room that night.

really depends on the neighborhood of the hotel and how much the management is willing to tolerate. Ive worked at hotels where it ranged from the norm, sometimes, and never.

but on AVG. in the US
motels- everyday
midscale- few times a week
upscale-few times a week ( high class escorts)
