I've hiked Rocky Top/Thunderhead and Mount LeConte via Trillium Gap and can confirm that someone could easy disappear to never be found again. I doubt there is much in the way of a conspiracy or rogue group of inbred, hairy people snatching kids up.

So there's nothing strange about an 84 year old guy just disappearing with all of his belongings 50 yards away from his friend when he could hardly walk?

There's clearly foul play here but it was treated as if he got lost in the woods hiking.

Just writing things off as conspiracy theories is silly and you can't deny that the way the authorities act in these cases is very strange.

The case above was probably a kidnapping and murder which isn't some strange spooky conspiracy but why didn't the police treat it that way?

Have you read any of these cases? Some of them when the body is found defy logic.

As in they can't cover that distance in that amount of time.

I agree that the vast majority of disappearances can be explained by animals/general difficulty of finding people in such an expanse.

However its these few cases where the fact pattern is not easily explained by those answers that freak me out. And some of the little facts that make no sense, like the guy who didn't have his boots, or the inability for dogs to trace their scent

Oh, I know. And yes, I've read a lot of these (as of today lul). Some of this definitely defies logic. And it's most likely a case of delirium or something caused by the elements as to why they take off their clothes. The Martin disappearance doesn't seem all that strange to me. The 39 year old doctor, now that one is definitely strange. 4.5 miles as a crow flies is a decent hike, but with an ascending, then descending a thousand feet each time over that terrain, yeah, that's wild. A thousand feet in distance doesn't seem too bad, but in mountains like that, it's tough. My guess is he got lost and got taken over by the elements. That caused him to behave as someone who had a lack of oxygen to the brain or overcome with cold-induced delirium (is that even a thing?). And that's what caused him to behave that way. I'm no doctor, expert, or rescue team member so my opinion is not worth much weight. Now, I haven't read about people just legit disappearing before people's eyes. Are there accounts like that?

Road crew working in night. Walking back to the truck one guy is missing. They go back and either they found one boot on ground or and his change on the ground.

They climb the fence and a long way into the field/woods find his other boot.

Dogs don't always pick up trails for a variety of reasons. Searching of areas is often poorly coordinated, especially in the vast areas most of these people go missing in.

In DP's opinion-but he thinks all children & elderly are helpless invalids. Obviously the guy has never seen a child climb or run ahead of their parents, or somebody with dementia walking. They often have a days head start on the search parties/cops.

Haven't seen the second one, but the first documentary he did is a 10/10 for cinematography & as a murder mystery for the main case, as a case of anything paranormal happening as was the aim of the film it fails miserably.

Morgan was an English major at the University of Wyoming and had a summer job as a tour guide for white water trips on the Colorado River. He was an outstanding swimmer and competent guide. Morgan’s group of boats pulled the group to the side of the river at a regular stop where they take guests up a side creek. Guests take a short walk to a pool where they jump off boulders into the water. The group was walking back to the boats along the small creek, Morgan was wearing his life preserver and was last in line when he disappeared. There was an extensive search by the National Park Service, nothing was found of Morgan or his equipment.

An employee that worked at the same guide company that Morgan worked contacted me. He explained that the other guides on this trip are completely baffled. The area he disappeared had a small creek with cliff walls on both sides. He stated that it didn’t seem possible that Morgan could disappear as he did.

All kinds of stories of mountain lions dragging kids off with their parents very close by. They can stalk from tree branches and they get you from behind. No kid or elderly has a chance against that.

I remember this case being posted on here with two backpackers disappearing somewhere in Costa Rica or Nicaragua or something and they later retrieved their camera and it had a bunch of strange photos on it
