Im almost risking a ban bet that this country isnt opening on May 1, MAy 15th or May 30th
https://www.militarytimes.com/news/y...f-coronavirus/
There is just no way the country will open and the military be on shutdown still.
All of this talk of opening is just talk. People are restless, yes, but the govt both federal and state have other plans for the citizens of this country

so they did the "responsible" thing and went worst case scenario prep because NO ONE was prepared for this. but now you have a fraction of the population that is literally terrified of walking outside, and another fraction that have branched off into ****ing ****ring conspiracy theories. so now you have an absolute shetshow to deal with outside of the actual virus.

Can’t think of a way to keep movie theaters, night clubs, sporting events and concerts going until this is over though. Unless they seat everyone 6’ apart at theaters (some dine in theaters already do this), sporting events and concerts.
Employ people to mass test and contact trace. Set up a queue for elective surgeries to allow more capacity in case of a surge.

Today I went into a building (other than my house) for the first time in 5 weeks (plus 1 day, so for 5 complete weeks I entered 0 buildings). I was in the post office for about 30 seconds to drop off a package with a pre printed label. Only one other person was in the building. I think I got within 6 feet as I walked by even still. You gotta go to where you gotta go to, some things aren't six feet apart. That's it, I'm a gonner.
Oh well might as well continue the streak, planning to go into another building tomorrow. Wonder if I'll melt. Maybe I'll wear more mask? When else will I get to put it on? lol

I sorta live on Fairlife milk so the shelf life is crazy and I buy lots at a time (multiple refrigerators) so I already had like 15 jugs (1.5 litres each) when this started and get more with every order.

New Orleans stay at home order extended to May 16.
Got dayumn NOLA local economy going to be absolutely wrecked from this ****. So many places are never going to recover from being shut down that long.
What a ****ing shame man. This **** has gone on for too long. Let the poor people open their **** back up at at least 50% capacity FFS.
In hindsight these shut downs were extreme. Nothing we can do about that now. But whatcouldbe done now is easing up on it so people can at least attempt to get the businesses they killed themselves to start and build get back on track.

I was wrong to push so hard for these shutdowns myself. I expected the impact on health care to be far worse than it actually is, but I was placing my trust in those experts who have the professional expertise to model pandemics and publicize those models.
The impact of the virus on health care has been minimal relative to the impact of shutdowns on the working and business-owning American people which has been immense and growing more immense by the day.
The forecasts of the dangerous overburdening of healthcare, even with full social distancing, were grossly over-forecast and have been disproven and discredited.
Tens of millions of Americans have been put out of work and there are nearly 20 million new unemployment claims over the past three weeks, all because of badly wrong forecasts of overburdening of health care.
For most of the country, there is no rational justification to continue the shutdowns of businesses and employees past the end of April.
Putting people back to work during the first of May will cause more viral transmission than if we don't - that's a given - but at this point we have to accept that outcome and that cost. If there are outbreaks that get far too severe into May and June, then we'll just have to readjust at that point; but for now the people have to be allowed to get back to work sooner rather than later.
There is no easy and perfect answer, but that's the best answer there is right now.

the only way out of this is to go all in on testing. im not sure why we cant test more than 1% of the population. dont care about what other countries are doing. we need to test more than 1% to know wtf is actually happening.
the feds have shown that they can and will print at will. might as well print more of that magic money and ear mark it for an epic testing blitz. granted im thinking our problem isnt money. maybe it's just not possible.

I do know that cash would be preferred because of insta shenanigans they play with their drivers...except for the whole contactless aspect and the whole money is full of germs thing.
I really should withdraw some cash and like put envelopes of cash tip out

US government gave $3.7million to Wuhan lab accused of sparking coronavirus outbreak with experiments on bats
Covid-19 was originally thought to have come from a so-called “wet market” in the city but there has been mounting speculation linking the disease to the lab and another in the city.
Scientists at the institute experimented on bats as part of a project funded by the US National Institutes of Health, which licences it to receive American money, the Mail on Sunday reports.
It has also emerged Chinese scientist Shi Zhengli, a leading experts on coronaviruses and known as China's 'Bat Woman' was “muzzled” after revealing Covid-19’s genetic composition – crucial for developing tests and vaccines.

UK fixing to keep locked down until May 7th with an apparent loosening coming thereafter. Some clothes factories apparently reopening & thus online shopping for certain stores starting again albeit on a limited level due to apparent social distancing in the warehouses meaning less staff cranking chit out.

Your question was, what happens if someone gets infected on may 4th, nothing happens. The lockdown isn't reversed, its loosened. The UK will just follow what Germany are doing closely & follow them.

It will be loosened to continue to attempt to cap the number of new cases whilst boosting the economy. The economy has always been worth more than our lives so this should come as no surprise.
Your question was is, what happens if someone gets infected on may 4th, nothing happens. The lockdown isn't reversed, its loosened. The UK will just follow what Germany are doing closely & follow them.

I dont mean to be a d!ck , but everyone is just parroting ,mirrioring, mechanically repeating what they hear without fully understanding what they are saying.... thats why im asking for an elaboration from your side on the "loosen " and how will it help

For example, I hear all shops/businesses that employ less than 50 staff will be allowed to reopen. Schools will possibly reopen.
Most likely the trade off will be, continue to socially distance, trace new infections & outbreaks for reopening the economy and thus "loosening the lockdown.
One would also assume if you're from somewhere where law enforcement are questioning you whenever you leave the house, that will no longer happen either.

shops ,businesses with less than 50 staff will open . alright and what will happen when one of those 50 staff gets infected by getting in contact with an infected client? A client might be infected , touch his credit card ,give it to one of the staff to scan it on the pos machine , then what?
The entire opening business in chuncks to keep things controlled , wont work , because its not like youre fighting a visible ,tangible foe .
This virus has the same qualities as the air we breathe has. its everywhere, you cant stop it by being safe , atleast not our kind of safe.
as i said earlier in this thread like a month ago , when people were saying this will end in couple days or a couple weeks at most and this is all fear mongering . i say again, this will not end anytime soon.
We have two scenarios
1) There is no cure and theres no way to avoid it
2) A vaccine is found and this enDS
No other way out of this

Small outbreaks will be traced, contained & quarantined & so few people will die from it as time progresses it will no longer be reported.
Lockdowns aren't loosened when the virus is rampant. They're loosened when the first wave is on its way out, meaning theres a certain level of immunity, some of the most vulnerable are already dead or immune.
"Loosening the lockdown" doesn't mean if you're exhibiting symptoms you won't be quarantined & traced & thus can go ahead and infect swathes of people.
