For everyday driving, ignore the best brands. Its not important.

The best tire is the cheapest tire.

Ill explain.

What you want in a tire is low cost, DOT approved, and will last you 3-5 years or 40k miles.

You will hit a nail. And when that happens, its 50/50 that it hits the sidewall, which cannot be repaired. When that happens, you cannot replace just one tire, unless you want to fudge up your AWD or make your car unbalanced.

Tires degrade drastically every year from sunlight, heat, cold, hitting potholes, hitting nails, etc which is why you want to replace them at a 5 year interval.

So go with the cheapest tire you can find. Srs. You will save HUNDREDS.

A lot of people get up sold on tires. They Spend around $600 more on tires than they should.

As for stopping distances and grip, prevent rather than react on a short notice. So keep distance and don't drive in bad weather.

Why are tires made of rubber and the streets are made of concrete/asphalt? Why not concrete tires and rubber streets? Never have a blowout, would be safer.

-air up properly
-replace every 3-5 years
-rotate tires every 5k miles

the best tire you can get right now is the michelin pilot super sport

pers, i run continental extreme contact sport, they are about $50 cheaper each, so $200 on a set, and i'm not on a track so


best snow tire, general arctic altimax, again, little cheaper than blizzaks and i think just as good


go ahead and fly thru standing water on cheap tires , you'll fkn sail into the woods, trust me

they are cheap for a reason, no testing

i routinely push my tires to the break point , most people don't even know how to do that , they drive scared , you can watch them from behind

And driving in the rain fast because you have more confidence in your tires makes you more prone to getting in an accident. Even your brakes can slip because its wet.

And yes there is testing. They are all DOT tested.

Aren't you that guy that has to get a radiator replaced @ every 3 years because you don't even know what you are doing.

I can agree with Michelin pilot super sport, but they are $$$$. I just go with Hankook. That's @$240 per rears (265/40/19) and $200 per front (235/35/19). Michelin would cost a lot more.

I got a slowly leaky tire but can't find the problem. No holes in the tire. Metal valve stems and I replaced the pin.

Just ordered a set of Michelin Agelis + for my T5 transporter.
Good tyre or not? First set I've ever bought for a van and not sure what go with.
I kind of want to mod if for performance but I also need to do a bit of gravel driving since I ride a lot of dirt bikes.

If you're running a tyre deisgned for heavier loads and the van/ute is unloaded would you suggest having a higher pressure to increase live and grip?
I get that most van tyres are designed to have heavy load but I'm planning to run pretgty light since its gonna be a camper.

The bead area can be quite leaky. Your rims are probably all fkd up on the inside which can also cause a leak right through the metal. Moisture and dirt probably got inside the tire and corroded some part of your rim. Its what happened to my rims.

Take the tire off, check the inside of the rims. If its rusty, clean it was soap, water, and 180 sandpaper. Then put a thin layer of silicone gasket over what you cleaned to seal up the metal from leaking air. Replace your tires if they too old man.

Tires are incredibly important and a basic YouTube video on grip versus brand blows your claim out of the water.

I personally run Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+. Perfect blend of aesthetics, grip in wet dry and snow, low noise and decent longevity.
