Tires are incredibly important and a basic YouTube video on grip versus brand blows your claim out of the water.

I personally run Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+. Perfect blend of aesthetics, grip in wet dry and snow, low noise and decent longevity.
So how can I be a troll if I shill for Gillette, the most expensive razor, but then shill for the cheapest tires? You aint make no sense.

Stopping distance isn't that dramatic between expensive and cheap tires in good driving conditions. And you can prevent a lot of accidents by keeping distance and maintaining an ideal speed for the given conditions.

Im a top tier researcher.
If you are just replacing, NO, they are not complex. There are bolts to hold them on and hoses with clamps to tighten. Pretty fukcen easy.

I’m considering switching. I’ve been questing for the perfect balance of AT tire and winter tire and I’m tired of running them year round. This winter will be my first with actual winter tires on my truck.

Maybe next spring I’ll give the duratracs a shot

However, you get cracks on radiators because of over servicing. Even cheap china radiators will last longer than 3 years.

What you want in a tire is low cost, DOT approved, and will last you 5 years.

You will hit a nail. And when that happens, its 50/50 that it hits the sidewall, which cannot be repaired. When that happens, you cannot replace just one tire, unless you want to fudge up your AWD.

Tires degrade drastically every year from sunlight, heat, cold, hitting potholes, hitting nails, etc which is why you want to replace them at a 5 year interval.

So go with the cheapest tire you can find. Srs. You will save HUNDREDS.

The Honda dealership ripped my mom off by $600 because she doesn't know chit about tires - that's pretty much everyone.

As for stopping distances and grip, prevent rather than react on a short notice. So keep distance and don't drive in bad weather.

I don't know how DOT approval for tires work but I do know that for lighting it means very little. For lighting automakers and aftermarket parts makers self-certify that the product meets DOT requirements. For a lot of stuff coming from China (in terms of lighting) the reality is that the claim of being DOT "approved" is false. Hope approval for tires from China is not handled the same way.

What DOT does for car tires is very simple.

They will test for the following:

-thread wear
-traction
-heat resistance

Once the tire is tested, DOT will give it a grade, called UTQG Code.

On top of that, the manufacturer of the tire give their own tire warranty, this usually matches what DOT tested for thread wear.

The tires that I got have a DOT thread wear grade of 460. The manufacturer gives it a warranty of 40k miles.

There are tires out there with 50k-80k warranties. Which you don't want because your tires will go through a ton of abuse in the first 40k miles. Even the car manufacturer(owners manual) recommends to replace tires every 5 years.

The tire manufacturer may warranty the tire past 50k miles but they have no control over what your tires hit(potholes, nails, debris) over its life. All of those things degrades the tire dramatically. A tire screech is enough to cause a bald spot on the tire and now it will run unevenly.

It is much smarter to buy the cheapest tires you can find.

the best tire you can get right now is the michelin pilot super sport

pers, i run continental extreme contact sport, they are about $50 cheaper each, so $200 on a set, and i'm not on a track so


best snow tire, general arctic altimax, again, little cheaper than blizzaks and i think just as good
