If my understanding of this thread is correct, miscers are upset because they think having a gay couple in a cartoon will make kids gay.

The way I see it, it just normalizes something that's been normalized (for the most part) already, gays in society. Not putting them any show kids see would make it seem like gays should be "hidden" away from kids until a certain age. You can't have it both ways. Either gays are shunned and kept from the spotlight, or they are accepted and show up on tv from time to time.

We live in a time where kids WILL know a classmate with same sex parents. Should the other kids do the things kids normally do and completely trash the kid with same sex parents and say they live with *******s, or would it be better for all involved if the other kids didn't' even think about it cuz they know some families are different and it's ok?

Gays in shows isn't saying "You should be gay", it's just showing people that exist already in society. It's kinda like when people complain about black people being over-represented in TV. We exist and will therefore be on TV. Too bad if we show up more than you want to see.

And let's be real, at the most, a gay couple in a cartoon isn't going to make kids turn gay. We grew up with some of the most raw cartoons in the 80's and 90's and gays still were there the whole time. When we noticed little timmy had a lisp that didn't go anywhere his whole life ended up being gay, it caught no one by surprise. People will be straight, gay, and anything in between no matter what is on TV. The only difference will be how we treat those people. Are they equal to us and able to be shown on TV like any other family, or are they a "bad thing" that must be shunned and hidden?

You either think gays are equal or you don't. I could see if someone was upset because characters are being sexual in a kids show, sure, but that would apply to a straight couple as well.

Actually, the mediocre storytelling of current cartoons can't make people neither gay nor furry. It could be either the whole digital nature of the work or the pixie queer twitter writers, but modern cartoons lack that gutsy feeling present in older productions.
