I’m not advocating for legally mandating this vaccine across the board. I have yet to see anyone propose that in the US. One of my biggest concerns is children in school. Despite what many parents think, no, you don’t know what’s better for your child’s health than the medical community does.

Doesn’t work that way. Unvaccinated populations still endanger vaccinated populations.

I hope you know how a vaccine is supposed to work? It protects the person who took it by creating antibodies. If it doesn't then it's not effective. Endangering others who have taken it is a cop out and a ridiculously stupid one if you think it works as designed. Get a vaccine and feel safe, I'm okay without one.

I mean I admire your consistency in stance but obviously over 180 years a lot can change. Cars have since gotten faster as well as more drivers on the road all increasing the chance of a car crash. As far as I know they implemented the mandatory seatbelt law because too many people were dying from road traffic accidents.

Every currently recommended vaccine in the US has an abundance of scientific literature supporting its safety and effectiveness. You’ve likely never taken a biology class after high school. I’ll trust the literature over you.

Again, it doesn’t work that way. Many vaccines, including that of influenza, can reduce symptoms and transmission without completely stopping disease or viral replication.

Not to mention a larger unvaccinated susceptible population = larger pathogen population = more room for selection to generate vaccine evading variants.

lol I have a chem.degree and a minor in biology, all of my electives were 400 and 500 level biology. Let's look at it like this.

Me: how does this make me stay healthy.
Doctor: putting an inactive version of the virus makes you develop antibodies to protect against it.
Me: awesome, so I wont have to worry about getting sick.
D: well not exactly, if someone around you isnt vaccinated then you can get it.
M: but wouldn't I have antibodies and immunities?

For example with influenza, Heterosubtypic immunity generated by the vaccines can, in many occasions, reduce symptoms, viral loads and thus disease severity and transmission potential. It isn’t always black and white. If you get infected, it increases the odds I get infected and I might still have moderate disease symptoms even if vaccinated.

And like I said, natural selection works stronger and more quickly in larger populations. This means the larger the unvaccinated population, the more likely a variant will rise and increase in frequency for which we will need to make ANOTHER vaccine for.

on spread, it seems they're worried about everyone else when they should be worried about themselves. Just like a controlling partner or parent that wants to force their will on others, I'll never get that mindset or how one develops that.

Slight issue with this statement. Not saying I’m pro or anti vaccine the following is just maths and science without an opinion

Now almost all vaccines aren’t 100% effective, BUT if enough people get them then they don’t actually have to be, the smallpox vaccine wasnt 100% effective yet we still managed to vaccinate it out of the human population. Why?

So imagine you have a group of 100 people, now let’s say you have a disease, and you have a vaccine for this disease, and this vaccine is 90% effective

Now let’s say 90% of people get this vaccine, in this scenario 81 people are completely protected from the disease and 19 people still act as vectors to transmit it. So if one person becomes infected, 4 out of 5 people they interact with arent vectors for this virus, so it’s less likely to spread to people in the population and depending on its R0 value it’s likely to die out and eventually be eradicated.

Now let’s say only 50% of people get this vaccine, in this scenario 45 people are completely protected from the virus and 55 still act as vectors to spread the virsu. So in this case the majority of people still act as vectors to spread the disease and it won’t be eradicated from the population.

So in the first scenario, the 10% of people who were anti vaxxers were actually protected by everyone else who got vaccinated. If you’re anti vaccine yourself, it’s actually everyone else who’s getting vaccinated which protects you from disease and potentially saves your life
